  • Rammstein's Zeit "new" song, from their new eponymous album. By now I have heard the whole album on Spotify. Great stuff.
OK, this is late, but it's not exactly my fault... I recorded and first uploaded this in early April. But it was immediately copyright blocked, no matter what I did. Some reactors seemed to have been able to appeal it, so I did it... but they (UMG) answered no. I decided to try uploading the same video again now in late July... and now it wasn't blocked. Go figure.

An absolute masterpiece by Rammstein. Visually and acoustically. Unfortunately, the translations don't do justice to Till's wonderful poetry, which is often understandably difficult to achieve.
Nevertheless, thank you very much for the nice and sympathetic reaction.

I want to thank you for being one of the very few male reactor that didn't look shocked or horrified when they show the scenes of the women giving birth. I was already expecting to see a look of disgust or some comment on how they shouldn't show that. So thank you very much for being a mature adult

The beings represent three of the main Norns: Urd, Verdandi and Skuld, whose names translate as past, present, and future. "Urd" also means "faith". They reside under Yggdrasil. You may remember the story of Odin and the Well of Urd.

I named one of the high(ish) performance servers in my lab Igdrasil (spelled it more Brazilian, to be easier), since I do lots of evolutionary trees. :-) I don't know much of the stories from Norse mythology though, bought a nice book about it a while ago but can't seem to find the time to finally read it...

I´ve seen alot of rammstein reactions, but you are the first one that appreciate not only their music, but the poems Till writes... thx for that. Till Lindemanns Texte sind wirklich tief und haben oft 3 oder manchmal 4 ebenen. Enjoy!

The three fearsome figures probably don't represent death or time per se. I think Rammstein've chosen an adaptation of old Germanic/Nordic myths for their song. In the old norse/ germanic Völuspá, three women of destiny are named as Norns (Nornir). The three sit at the source of the river Urd at the root of the world ash Yagdrasil and spin the threads of destiny for all gods and humans. They are called Urd (destiny), Verdandi (that which is to be) and Skuld (guilt or that which is meant to be). When the thread is cut, life ends. It also means that each individual's fate is predetermined and cannot be changed by either man or even gods.

    ⏳ TIME⌛
    Some things should
    Some things shan't(should not)
We see, yet we are blind
    We cast shadows without light
After us, there will be a 'before'
Out of youth, necessity is born already
We keep dying until we live
    (We) die living into(the)death
    We drift towards the end
    No rest, just striving forward
Endlessness is waving at the shore
Captured in the river of time
    Time
    Please stand still, stand still
    Time
This shall go on forever and always
Warm body will be cold soon
    One cannot conjure the future
    Allows for no stay
    Creating and destroying immediately
I lie here in your arms
Oh, could it just be like this forever
But the time knows of no mercy
    Already, the moment is gone
    Time
It is so beautiful, so beautiful
    Everyone knows
    The perfect Moment
    When our time has come
Then it is time to go
Stopping when things are at thier best
    The clocks stand still
    The moment is so perfect
    But the time keeps running(out)
    Moment, would you Please remain
    I'm not ready yet

  • @theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567

Nice reaction, made me laugh with the south park bit, also thank you because my brain just didn't figure out why the girl (Playing Ollie's daughter) seemed to be a woman then girl, it just for some reason didn't register before! Thanks!
I just saw them perform in Cardiff, I think they said it was 50k audience!! It was actually on the same day you uploaded this by what it says! Amazing concert, they were epic as always! This, Zeit, was wonderful live, and when Till was singing, wishing time to please stay still, that we all know the perfect moment and wish to remain in that time, I felt the same; like please let this concert just go on and be, stay here in this moment now. But already it is gone.
Beautiful song, I don't know German, only the things I have picked up from music, such as Rammstein's lyrics, but hearing and seeing this the first time I still felt so emotional.

    My interpretation:
This clip is divided into two settings: Real-world (color) and a kind of "other dimension" (greyish). those are connected by those three gate/timekeepers (past/present/future). Those receive and deliver "souls"/spark of life ...
The symbolism of the sand of the hourglass and the flow of time/drowning in time (water scenes at the beginning) are +/- obvious.
The mystic sand monument might be something like the memories of a person that you remember and are left in time and get decayed/destroyed over time

My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.

    The three black dressed
women are the three Nornes. In the old german
fore-christian mythology they represent the past,
the present and the future. The Norne of the past is
named Urd (the destiny). The Norne of the present
is Verdandi (that what is now and what will be in the
next moment). The Norne of the future is Skuld
(that what will grow out of the past and the always
changing moments). The Nornes spin the rope of
life. They decide where the rope begins and where it
ends. In Germany we still say „life hangs at a thin
rope" when things are getting dangerous or
somebody is really hurt or sick. The Nornes are no
gods. They just represent the time of a life. People
can't influence time and a lot of things that
happens. The life of everyone is created by the
Nornes what means by the time. And we all sitting in
the same boat mightless in the sands of time. This
is the credo of this song.
