- Still tender and limited in overall functioning. Walking a few kilometres and increasing that by 200 metres every other day.
How to dispose of bad carbohydrates? I ended up eating them slowly - probably the wrong way. I will return to extreme fasting and low carb diet shortly.

I'm still careful about lifting. Not driving. I feel somewhat emasculated!
My belly button appears to have moved at 3:23. It hasn't, just a poor camera angle.
Cuts are healing well.
Breathing and lung capacity almost fully back to normal.
Exercising, but very limited to slow and careful simple squats or 3kg weights.
Internal twinges feel like the 'stitch'.
Not achieving the 2 litres of water per day. Forced drinking is not working for me.
Using my mind is very tiring, however, getting outside is very good for my mind.
If you are medically and emotionally capable of donating a Kidney, my suggestion is to go for it.
I said 'getting my license back', but I meant 'permission to drive'. Currently, my medical professionals recommend no driving, this means my insurance won't cover me if I do drive. Once they confirm I am healthy enough to drive, then I will resume.
Maybe this will help someone in the future to make the best decision they can. I just had a robot- assisted radical nephrectomy on January 12; 2024. I was discharged from hospital less than 24 hours later. Pathology report was placed on chart on 1/19/24. My pathological diagnosis was a benign tumor called an “oncocytoma”. Therefore, as the patient I tried to make the best decision I could based on the information I had. Despite everyone doing the best they could, I had a radical nephrectomy for a benign tumor. The literature states that 90% of kidney tumors are cancerous. The 4.2cm mass was centrally located in my kidney. I am doing well today, but only the future knows what is in store for my residual kidney function. I am 10 days post-surgery. No pain. Taking short frequent walks. However, I get tired very easily. Trying to follow all guidelines to the best of my ability. So far it is good progress. Blessings.
Hey DP, wow that is amazing. Robot-assisted must have looked very science-fictiony. I am glad it was benign. Tiredness is a thing. It gets better with time.
I'm 5 wks post op I walked to the store and back. I rested thoroughly. I still find it hard to put my sock on and tie my shoe. I can do light chores but don't like bending.
I'm going in on the 19th for a right kidney nephrectomy. Thanks for your video. It's going to be hard to sit still when I get more mobile.

You are 19 years old? Because I am 19 years old and two days ago I had nephrectomy done on my right kidney. Oh boy, the nurses are really mean and yesterday all I was thinking was killing myself, but I survived and now I am determined to leave the hospital
Thank you for posting these vidoes, there is not enough of this personalized information available. I am currently 1 week after hand assisted laproscopic radical nephrectomy. My advice to anyone in this situation is to get up and walk, as often as you can and as early as you can. You will not want to do this, there will be pain, it will take determination, but it really is the best way to relieve the painful abdominal gas pressure if you had laproscopy, and to getting the rest of your bodily functions working again. Don't dispair, you WILL get better with time.

I am fine. I am not as good as the recipient, but I am doing okay. Too much bad food, not enough exercise, insufficient self-care. But I am working on it. I did an update video about 2 years ago, but I have not posted it because I'm uncomfortable with it. I fell into a depressive mood, and it took a while to come out.
My message to donors is to actively look after yourself for the years after. It is a major surgery, and you must treat it like that.

Thanks for info. They call it major surgery and while it is, keyhole surgery ensures you are recovering to a point of good mobility without pain relief within a week(My experience). The pain around incision is only when you try to move around lol (my experience) Laying down you could lay there pain free without need for pain killers 😂. The hardest thing for me was wiping 😬 within that first week and resisting coughs and sneezes 😅.
Overall if you are a healthy individual then you really won’t be restricted for too long with or without pain. My wife was my slave during the recovery period and squeezed every ounce of time using this excuse to be pampered 😜. I sort of didn’t want it to end but she caught on within a week and a half I was getting her to do jobs I could do myself already 😊.
I spent the year in the lead-up to becoming as healthy as possible. I'm battling weight and exercise at the moment, but I will get there. My wife was outstanding.
The coughs and sneezes seem world ending when that tickle comes on.

Was everyone who replied satisfied with their pain control in the days afterwards? I am pathologically afraid of surgery especially in the post “ opioid/ opiate “ crisis. I know they are training docs now to try to treat moderate to even severe pain with ibuprofen and or acetaminophen now. That isn’t going to be acceptable in my case. Stay well all b
I had some type of opiod on day one, maybe day two. After that just paracetamol which was surprisingly effective. I continued paracetamol for at least a week as a pain preventative (even if I didn't have pain, I took it). Then lots of meditation and relation.
Hi, I’ll be having a partial nephrectomy, so I’ll still be having more than 1 kidney, do you think it will be okay to have 3 glasses of wine and a cocktail during a restaurant dinner experience?
Good luck. I am no doctor, you need to ask your doctor. I stopped all alcohol intake, never looked back. My doctor suggested zero alcohol and its been fine for me.
Can u give diet plan for nephrectomy...and wht should be done aftr nephrectomy wht things shld be avoided???
You need a professional to provide dietary advice. I can only tell you what I did. I ate fresh fruit and vegatables, exercised at least 30 minutes per day (usually brisk walking or slow jogging). I need to be doing that now.
Did you had open nephrectomy? that's the one I'll have and I am very scared. You look pretty well, I hope you are getting better. I am afraid of the post-op pain management for an open nephrectomy, really concerned. Wish me strenght.
Not sure about terminology here, but yes they opened me up to remove the kidney, otherwise all activity was 'keyhole' surgery.
You will get through this fine. I did not know about the potential pain until the day before the op, which kept my anxiety under control.
If I had my time over again, absolutely would do this again.

@@RodrigoMera Thanks for the kudos, but I don't think it is brave. I understand your position now. If you haven't checked out the Reddit forum for people who have had an organ removed I recommend it. I can't remember if it is in this video or the others I made. There are lots of people going through what you and I have/will do. That subreddit was very helpful to me because you can ask questions and get decent answers.
Being reasonably fit and healthy (right foods and moderate exercise) makes recovery easier, or at least so I was told. It does make sense.
