    • @GourmetGateaux
      @GourmetGateaux  Před 3 lety

      Hi Philip,
      This particular one isn't the one I made but is Squires Kitchen. With the gumpaste I make in the video, the petals can be rolled even thinner than this paste to get a more natural looking flower.😊

  • @debrasmall4311
    @debrasmall4311 Před 5 lety +1

    Hi, I really like your videos. I want to make your gumpaste as I normally make the one with egg whites. Do you have a video in which you are using your own gumpaste recipe rather than squires. I would love to see it in action and the results. I live in a hot country and find the egg white recipe dries out too quickly when your working with it. Any help would be appreciated x

    • @GourmetGateaux
      @GourmetGateaux  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Debra,
      Thank you so much. I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the tutorials.😊
      I did make a flower with my homemade gumpaste and found it's very different to a shop bought one. I was at some point thinking of doing a video comparing the two gumpastes and will have it up as soon as I can. The drying time however is not one of those differences, it's roughly more or less the same.
      If you add a lot of shortening to the paste or mix it with bit of fondant, it will give you a bit more time to work with it. 😊. X

      @GourmetGateaux  Před 5 lety +1

      No, I don't. I usually just put some Royal Icing or edible glue at the back of the flower & poke it in the cake as much as I can to secure it as the flowers are all wired and that definately helps. It can also be done using piping gel.😊

      Hi Mary,
      I usullay get mine just from the local supermarkets - there are dozens! Oh nooo, try Amazon then. Might be a bit dearer as you can literally pick 'em up for free. Or make some out of foil. Use the palm of your hand to cup it up, should do the trick for you. Spoons even. 😊
