What an amazing woman. So much depth, understanding, being real, lovely, and a beautiful thinker.
Beautiful elegantly humble voice for all of us Mexicans!
Oaxaca, land of the hand molded black clay and black mole, made of soil spice blossoms, reaped and seasoned by the hands of pure hearted Mexican women. Crib for Monte Alban, the most amazing pyramid in this world. Gracias Lila!
Lila Downs is a living legend ...an artist of great intellectual depth and emphaty.
I loved this interview. Thank you Amy and Lila!
Go Lila Downs!! Great message, excellent music!!
Fantastic interview! Lila shows such depth of character. I have three Mexican grandchildren of whom I am so proud ; their father is also American with some Scottish heritage from his father. I sent the link of this video to them all to watch.
Bravo 👏
Love Lila! Soulful & truthful artist.
Wonderful singing by Lila! and the band is all together!
I heard of lila downs when i lived in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca . She is amazing ♡
Awesome!
Gracias Democracy now!!
ooooo! I found my favorite line of ur song! HE CANT BUY OUR SOUL!!! JESUS OWNS IT AND WOULD NEVER MAKE DEALS W THE EVIL ONE! I LIKE UR SONG. peace and love from San Antonio Texas
Totally understand Lila Downs searching for herself. Being brought up in Bicultural Bilingual settings offers a diversity that encourages us to research, learn, and find oneself. I never felt my culture inferior. I just struggled double. Had to prove oneself and work harder, study harder. My mother was from Jalisco. I felt her energy in her teaching us to never be ashamed. My father also from Jalisco worked hard and struggled. He read, wrote, and spoke both Spanish & English. Growing up the discrimination always made us learn more, suffer more, and endure more. We learned Spanish & English. We learned diversity having all kinds of different friends. But prejudice & discrimination do hurt and trigger emotions.
To those who voted this down: you're hopeless hearts of stone
Lila Downs is the Best!! La Mejor!!
This Taino-Tolteca loves you, my sister Lila. I have an aunt that is call Titi Lila.
Lila Downs is The Best!!
Paisana, Mexico's independence was declared in 1810, Benito Juarez was 4 years old at the time. Otherwise lovely interview, thank you so much.
The Mexico’s independence was declared in 1821, in 1810 was the beginning of the Mexican War of independence
i loveee lilaaaa
maybe this "strong woman" can HELP find all of the Mexican children that were separated from their mothers here in TEXAS! peace and love
LILA!!!
like the THIEF I meant
Tlaxiaco; Yalitza Aparicio's town
All very god, realy. But what about the masters aconpanied to Lila? Lila most presentes theirs.
Todo muy bien, de verdad. Pero, ¿qué pasa con los maestros que acompañan a Lila. Fató presentarlos.
omg
Lila ask what happened to the beautiful little Mexican children went... I THINK it may be too late. stay clear of the monster. our brown CHILDREN should b more important. SING A SONG ABOUT THEM IF U WANT TO B A BRAVE MEXICAN REPRESENTATIVE!
but look... Jesus loves everyone. Trump is a person. he can still REPENT. and as true lovers of Christ we MUST pray for his conversion from HATE to LOVE
Gloria Terry covet
to that person that told me my prayers are a waste. it's not u to judge. u r not my Jesus. I rather pray and b wrong than think like u... condemning people bc they r rich whatever. Trump still has a soul and can repent at the last minute like the their next to Christ on the Cross. he begged Jesus forgiveness as he was dying and the Lord told him c u in PARADISE! there is hope for us all. Satan doesn't not own one SOUL bc Jesus is the SOUL PROPIETOR!!!
Representing, huh, Amy? Her favorite Asians. A little pin prick to African Americans she couldn't pass up.
fear not sayeth THE LORD! DID U C THE movie Coco? it was disgusting. no representation of the Mexican Faith that most Mexicans embrace w our hearts. I was appauled!
u r wasting ur voice on the obvious! sing for the lost Mexican children that were separated from their mothers at the border HERE IN TEXAS!
I really don't see her "greatness". I think is a way to say they listen to mexican music, but no. She is a mexican-american. Most mexicans are not. They don't want to be american.
