I'm coming from a 6 Pro and have had my 9 Pro XL for 3 days. The biggest difference I notice is the improved modem they put in this phone. 5g works MUCH better and as a result the overall battery life is improved. A downside I find Google has yet to fix for many years is the extra processing time after taking a photo. It's gotten shorter but still lags in comparison to the iPhone that has no processing time after taking a photo.
Just found your channel, nice content, new sub. I'm bummed that the Pixel 9 Pro is being released at a later date as that's the one I may upgrade to. Currently rocking the Pixel 7 Pro.
Now this is what you call a “real” review! Thanks for mentioning the subscription cost thing. I was looking at the a pixel 9 and was disappointed with this. Like sure we’ll give you a budget version that does 90% of everything on paper. But it doesn’t, does it? So they’re forcing you into the pro versions anyway 🤷♂️ Subscribed! Keep up the good work!
The thing about running benchmarks is that at the end of the day we're all mostly scrolling, and streaming. Whats the point of having a sports car if your using it to pickup groceries. You don't see Nintendo giving two turtle shells bout it.
Great video, I've subscribed off the back of it. Your experience of the Pro 9 XL phone is in line with my own, especially with Gemini Live which I think is great already but it'll be amazing down the line..! The only thing I disagree with you about is the speakers, I think they're OK, but I will admit as a CZcams tech content creator you've probably demoed way more phones than me so you'll probably know phones that have better speakers, but for me ignorance is bliss..!
I have the 9 Pro XL but i already disabled Gemini because although its smart, it cant complete basic tasks like opening maps with directions ...so i switched back to Assistant
2:30 nice you play Clash Royale also hehe! (Also very cool that you picked up the Rosequartz Google Pixel 9 Pro 😁! I was also bold in 2023 to pick up the Lavender S23 Ultra...)
While I completely agree that benchmarks don't show a smartphones real day to day in terms of performance I will say benchmarks do show or hint at a device's performance reliability over time. Pixels G-chip has the worst track record in any smartphone to stay consistent and dramatically degrades after the first year with bugs, battery, game performance, over heating, etc. So to me if pixel G4 chip still isn't hitting the same or better compared Apple and Snapdragon in scores it's kinda telling. I do hope it's better for Google this year and theres word they will be designing the G5 similar to how snapdragon is done. But I do hope that the G4 chip combined with the vapor chamber and 16 GB ram will keep the pixel 9s pushing past a year for the 7 years of support. Benchmarks aren't everything but they do show a lil something
I agree with you, saying benchmarks don't matter in daily usage is just false. If you pick up a mid-range device, with a mid-range chip that scores low benchmarks, you will absolutely notice how the device bottlenecks when under stress. Video recording for example. Most if not all mid-range devices with low benchmark scores have less than good video capabilities. Mid-range devices with high-end chips and high benchmark scores, have pretty good video capabilities. This video almost seems like a fluff piece.
you totally forgot one of the coolest features CZcams. you can ask Gemini summarize the CZcams video for you in three sentences or more. that's a really cool feature you forgot to talk about
Great video, glad I found your channel! Epic dad joke btw 😂Couldn’t agree more about the benchmarks and shit. Drives me crazy when people just look at the scores and say that the tensor is lacking. I’ve been using this new 9 pro xl after my 15 pro max and I can’t tell a difference. I just personally prefer the pictures from the pixel more than iPhone. I’ve always said you shouldn’t’ buy a 1100 phone for gaming. Get a switch or steam deck lol
People use the phones for gaming, web surfing, editing videos, making financial charts or expense charts on excel, opening flash programs, etc. Just because you have mo use doesn't mean the other does. I use to make power points and enter zoom meeting on my phone using Dex while I was in school.
I like this design the best out of all the Pixel phones over the years. What matters is in real life usage. That is all what I care about. One more thing you are the other guy that got the pink phone. I do watch the video 😆
A common scenario where procesing power does matter : Editing a video on your phone (for social media for instance). Google should not charge that price for an underpowered phone
Pixel has made it difficult for me. I use the S24 Plus, but I love Google's operating system and the great camera. However, I also love Samsung's customization options. I'm stuck in a difficult position, deciding whether to move back to Pixel or stay with Samsung.
I know what you mean. I’ve felt that dilemma as well coming from S24 Ultra, but it’s been a good experience overall with the switch. Curious to see how much of the AI capabilities Samsung incorporates though
@ShoAndTech yeah plus I feel sometimes the samsung s24plus is to small then other times I'm fine with the size. Do you see yourself going back to s24 ultra?
Great video but, I feel like you didn't cover the negatives at all, you barely mentioned them. Yes, gemini is cool but if I'm honest, I have not used it since trying it on set up. I can't be alone in this but the pixel 9 is buggy! Whenever I'm scrolling any app the feed will automatically want to scroll all the way up on its own. I know it's not my device alone because my wife has the same issue. I'm well within the return window and both my Wife and I are considering returning the phone. It still gets hot when recording video, and the video is choppy and full of stutters and stops. If you're a pixel user, then you have a pretty good idea on the video quality, it's not great and pixel 9 isn't better. The phone still gets hot when charging. Yes, the fingerprint reader is probably one of the only 2 things that are better over the previous pixels. The other improvement is battery life. I feel like an average user, I don't do gaming, I go on social media, browse the web, watch videos and listen to music and let me tell you, it is not a smooth experience for the price tag on this phone. edit: Benchmarks absolutely matter. A low score tells you the phone will perform poorly in the future, as apps and tasks become more complex and more demanding, a higher score results in a better performing device in the long run.
The problem with the pixel 8 pro was horrible performance in applications and gaming. The video editing or rendering takes a very long to process vs the iPhone. It gets hot. I had to switch out the 8 pro 7 times thru warranty. Hopefully 9 pro xl fixes all the issues. I own Samsung 24 ultra and iPhone 15 pro Max and pixel 8 pro thru my own purchases
I need a reviewer to determine whether Google finally copied the battery health feature to finally manually cap the maximum charge to 80% like on the Samsung Galaxy and iPhone 15 & 16, or whether Google added the ability to take photos at a higher resolution than 12.5 megapixels by default, like on the iPhones 15 and 16 series now, like 24/25 megapixels or 50 megapixels.
Everybody says that 128 isn't enough when they are reviewing phones but I've never even got close to my storage limit. Maybe I don't record very many videos and most people do. I also don't have a ton of apps but I do download a decent amount of content and still haven't had any issues😊
So reviewers are still talk about gen 4 tensor chip vs A18/17 or snapdragon gen 3 who cares buyers don't need the best chip plus their other factors to look at before buying a smartphone this is to 😂 my mind made up this is an amazing smartphone snapdragon scores are for the big 🤓 s want to start up a silly conversation over well nothing 😅
Honestly this phone looks so good to me, damn.
I’ve always viewed the Pixel phones as the iPhones of the Android space. If I ever migrate back over, it’s the Pixel ecosystem for me. Great video!!
I’m telling you! Google did something great with this one. Samsung punching air rn
@@ShoAndTech Gemini convo was crazy. Respect for one being one of the few in the tech community not pushing benchmarks.
You having the conversation with Gemini is crazzzyy lol.. It blew my mind away lol
When they announced it I thought it would be a gimmick for sure. It is actually wild

Been using it for just half a day but I'm seriously impressed with the camera and screen.
Well done calling out this non sense benchmark trend
It’s just so misleading lol
I don't know who the hell this dude is, but he just got a sub. Pixel squad stand up!
Let’s gooooooooooooo
I initially wanted to purchase the 8 pro, but man this design caught my interest!

I mean I get that all companies do this in some way but with Gemini being so new and intuitive, you’d think they’d make it more accessible early on
Great video! Subscribed and on the lookout 👀 for upcoming content 😊
I really appreciate you! Thank you!🙏🏾
The thing about running benchmarks is that at the end of the day we're all mostly scrolling, and streaming. Whats the point of having a sports car if your using it to pickup groceries. You don't see Nintendo giving two turtle shells bout it.
Your way of talking and explaining is interesting and easy to understand.
That's great feedback I really appreciate that!
Personally The new design and the this AI feature makes this phone so fun!. It is super good to see something new and refreshing.
A larger screened phone should only mean larger screen and larger battery. Im glad pixel 9 pro and pro XL have same specs that matter.
Very educational

Sorry if i missed it, but how was the battery life and screen on time for you?
you totally forgot one of the coolest features CZcams. you can ask Gemini summarize the CZcams video for you in three sentences or more. that's a really cool feature you forgot to talk about
Then nobody will watch my videos 😂
I agree with the regular pixel buyer should get Gemini for at least six months free or more.
Is there a fast charger in the box? Whats the charging speed for that big battery?
Haha increased price but still no charger. Uses up to a 45W charger and gives you 70% in 30 mins
I did that with the Mic hole lol... Don't think I screwed anything up!
😂😂 I knew there would be someone! Lmao glad your phone is still good to go!
@@ShoAndTech wish I watched this before I set it up lol
I GOT THIS PHONE FOR 3 DAYS THIS PHONE IS BEAUTIFUL AND DEF ITS A FLAGSHIP PHONE 💯

Do you get any off the AI features for free or would you have to pay for all of them
The majority of them appear to be behind the pay wall unfortunately.

What was the screen protector you applied here?
It was from Spigen

Never trust anyone on #Teampixel ladies and gents. Google literally has a clause in their contract to not criticize their pixel phones
People should never trust you, apparently. You obviously either didn't read the actual clause or don't have reading comprehension skills.
Mid processor. Samsung is still better
