      Except we legitimately won. The USA was handed the 2012 game in embarrassingly ridiculous fashion. Indirect free kick in the box for a made up nothing and then a weak handball penalty on said kick. Disgusting fix. I'm still angry about it!!

    Pretty sure this Norwegian ref never reffed again. Still remains the most atrocious call I’ve ever seen. Fantastic game ruined by a ref decision. One of the best sports games I’ve ever seen

    That indirect free kick was the biggest bullshit call I've seen in a long time. Never my time since I've ever seen a goalkeeper get called for that and I've seen them hold it for 10 to 15 seconds

      Sorry, but Canada had their chances to win the race to the fourth goal, but didn't where the USWNT beat them to the punch to win 4-3 en route to beating Japan in the London 2012 Gold Medal Game.
      After that the USWNT went on to win back-to-back FIFA Women's World Cup titles including one on Canadian soil in 2015 while Canada had two bronze Olympic medals in 2012 and 2016.

    Although a bitter ending for Canada, this is the game that really demonstrated Christine Sinclair's dominance and leadership in the Women's game. Sinclair always brought her best game when playing against the USA. The final score could have read: USA 4 - Sinclair 3.

By the way there is nothing classless about criticizing the atrocious reffing in London that gifted the US a tying goal. Classless is how players on that woman's team badgered the ref and reacted to winning. Class was how Sinclair played and reacted in both London's loss and Tokyo's win. By the way most comments from US fans being glad Canada won are because of the personal views of some of the women players who they call "woke" or publically criticized #45 the Dufious Donnie. Yea those are very classy fans you got there in the US. Classless is those US fans who cannot accept the fact that the London win was clearly a result of bad calls. If video replay was in London, it is highly unlikely the US would have won that game. It would be very fitting that the reffing in that game was one of the reasons for going to video replay.

    The USWNT and Canada WNT met again in another chapter in their rivalry last night in the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship Grand Final.
    However, it was Alex Morgan's penalty that helped the USWNT edged Canada 1-0 and automatically booked a spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
    Canada will take on Jamaica in September 2023 in a play-off for CONCACAF's second and final ticket to Paris 2024.

      That being said, Canada learned their lesson when the Canada WNT beat the USWNT for a chance at gold against Sweden in Tokyo.
      The USWNT had a 4-2 edge in shots on goal, but Jessie Fleming scored the only goal of the match with a penalty in the 75th minute.
      I'm not going to cry nor lose sleep about it.
      Good game Canada, good luck in adding an international title with Olympic Gold to your two CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup titles in 1998 and 2010 against Sweden.

    The referees for some reason give games to the USA. They did it in the 1999 World Cup final against China, and again in the 2015 final against Japan, which was unbelievable. Even the announcers were speechless. And again against Japan in yet another final after 2015. It really is a scandal.

    I've seen the USWNT lose to Norway in the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup SF, Norway in a golden goal after extra time in the 2000 Olympic Gold Medal Game, Germany in the 2003 FIFA World Cup SF, Brazil in the 2007 FIFA World Cup SF, Japan in the 2011 FIFA World Cup Final in penalties, Sweden in the 2016 Olympic QF in penalties, and now this.
    I'll take it on the chin and move on like a true trooper.

    The most incompetent refereeing I've ever seen in a match. And that includes the Argentinian's goal, Lampards non goal, Sol Campbell's non goals and all of South Koreas matches in 2002. I've watched football for over 50 years and this is the only time i saw a free kick given for steps and then a penalty for ball to arm. An utter disgrace.

      Yet, those teams had chances to overcome bad officiating to win and they didn't do it.
      BTW, Italy and Spain won the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups and Argentina broke their 28-year title drought by winning the 2021 Copa America.

      You are sounding a lot like Maxine61 who tucked tail and ran. Do you dispute the handball call being incorrect? Do you dispute the absolute pathetic call on the goalie near end of regulation time? So to title this the greatest game ever played when reffing was so poor (remember it is part of the game) and a deciding factor in why the US a team made it to extra time is completely idiotic. As in taking any pride in the victory, I stand by my original post that yes the US a got the win, but it was nothing to be proud of.

Also there is a difference between getting the odd benefit of a bad call , and consistently being able to count on at least one or more gifts in every game. So again demonstrate your ignorance and enjoy the knowing full well it was bogus. Same in the final game against China at Olympics in the shootout. US goaltender blatantly left the line on every single penalty kick. Every single kick by China should have been allowed to be retaken if needed. Again check the tape and rules.
