      I just wish he'd admitted to being under the influence sometimes when he was wrestling. It's a really bad thing for an addict to keep lying about stuff like that, and we all know he was f'd up many, many times in the ring.
      I just hope now that AEW is a complete clown show that Jake doesn't fall back to his habits. Also I hope Jake has himself a woman :)

      @jules8876 The period Joe and Jake were discussing was before Jake started showing up to indie gigs fat, bald, and fucked up out of his mind.
      He wasn't being dishonest, they were just discussing an earlier period in his life.

It won't even come knocking on your door, because it knows you're locked in, you're gonna do this. But its over there doing push ups in the corner waiting on your ass" .. this is the best description of addiction I ever heard!

      That's a pretty damn good description of whats going on. Ice been to three rehab centers. getting clean is easy (more or less). Staying clean inside the center is easy. Now I wouldn't go back to my habit right away like he describes calling his dealer but it always seemed to find me again.
      The booze especially. You have no self awareness, and the damage you can cause from that blindness is horrible.

    Sexual and physical abuse happens to boys and men more than people know. It's time we start taking care of the men and boys in society. We need more programs to help men and boys. They constantly suffer in silence because if they speak out, they are mocked, shamed, or people don't believe. They are constantly told to "man up" The truth is society would collapse without them.

It can still be fun, but the addiction to those hard drugs comes with a lot of addiction, depression, and anxiety when you dont have them that nothing really touches it except the hard drugs, this is especially true of opiates because of the physical withdrawal, but crack, coke or any difficult drug is going to be a tough spot.

    The film Jake is talking about that made him look real bad was "beyond the mat" from 1997. Wrestling doc. I'm sure he's embarrassed about it now but he really was a mess then. It's amazing how good he is now.

    I'm a double bilateral lower limb amputee. I lost my legs at the age of 9 months old in a car train accident with my father. I'm 45 now in my arms are so worn out that they put me in an electric wheelchair because I can't wheel myself because of the pain. I have yearly surgeries on my elbows just to keep them going. I was around a hundred sixty pounds and that was perfect for me I'm a very big bone guy as you can imagine from having to use my arms my whole life as arms and legs. I weigh about 235 pounds now and nothing I try is helping. I reached out DDP yoga. Explain my situation to him and I heard nothing back from them. I think they're just scared of me not having legs or something. I'm so glad that you got help from him Jake but I sure wish he would reach out to me.things are getting really bad and I don't know what to do anymore my health is bad. Joe if you have any ideas please let me know ..Jake if you have any ideas please let me know. I'd love to get back into my judo and martial arts and I have a second degree black belt in judo have a black belt in shotokan karate. But sadly I've had to give up all my training. I fought semi pro MMA here locally in Illinois and Iowa with 9 wins and 1 loss. I used to be so active but now things are so bad and I need help. Its like everybody I reach out to, to try to get a little help ,or ideas that will help will blow me off.... Really hoping you guys won't....

      @bartonlee2600 Před 3 lety +1

      @Austin Batton Let me tell if you were an addict and in recovery...you would know..The behavior you had before you stopped is usually indicative of addiction. The fine line between heavy use and addiction is not known. Most people who've gotten to that point, either died, kept on using, quit later on...most people quit by choice. That's not the case when sliding into addiction from heavy use. The "wiring" people talk about is true..why is it other people could and not me...I often wondered why me?? as most people ask themselves..A few months back my mom told me i was on Ritalin before I was 10 yrs old. Around 5- years old i was on it and stopped before I was 8 yrs old.I was having a conversation with my younger brother and he told me that adolescences before the age of 10 who was on Ritalin, went and became addicted to cocaine/crack. beginning of use or using around early-to middle 20's when the try it..most become full blown addiction less than 5 years. It explained a few things that happened to me and how the Ritalin changed my brain...

    "Shame is something that you put on yourself."
    This! Exactly this! Don't you ever forget it!
    No matter what kind of addiction, they are all self-defeating by nature. They start as a form of escapism. But they trap you! Which is exactly how any and every addiction maintains itself. Addiction puts you onto a never-ending guilt trip and chips away at your resilience, until it is in bits and pieces. Consumption remains the only "tried and true" coping mechanism left, all the while it becomes a major stressor itself.
    It's like a hellhound sustaining itself through it's own shit. That is why these cycles need thorough re-wiring to be broken through. And most addicts, at some point, will be too far out there to turn that franchise around on their own. Their internalized aggression and the biochemistry, that overwhelmingly governs behaviour, is completely out of whack. That is what you are dealing with as an addict and/or as a relative of an addict.
    Massive respect for Jake the Snake, DDP and Ramon! Listen carefuly to this man. There is much to learn. Because addiction, in my opinion, is the most commonly misunderstood disease on the planet. Unfortunately it is also one of the most volatile ones.
