One thing I find remarkable about these is how they remember such complex dialogs to be able to film them without cuts. A classic example is their Ponting Punting sketch.

I was raised on The Two Ronnies - In 1971 it was family viewing for me. Although I would sometimes not 'get the joke' as I was only 11 or 12 - I'd just laugh at my Mum and Dad laughing. They were both excellent comedians and masters of innuendo. Both sadly missed.

Same for me. Although I too struggled with jokes as a child, especially things like Yes Minister and Porridge, somehow I KNEW what I was watching was genius.

The brilliance and subtle genius of this sketch is that it's not the two characters/The Two Ronnies whose lines are crossed but the viewer's(s').

Many thanks for a blast from the past Vanessa.
Some of your audience will know but for others, Ronnie B used the pseudonym of Gerald Wiley when writing sketches for the BBC, he wanted the production team at the time to accept them on merit rather than because of who he was. When the team sat down to choose which sketches to use he would even criticised ‘his own writing’ - none of the team knew it was his work and chose it on merit alone - such a self-effacing man and such a genius. RIP Ronnie B (the Godfather of British comedy)

One of their cleverest sketches. There being more restrictions on what you could say led to people being more clever with innuendo to get around the censors.
