FACTS! I watched Descendant and was able to relate your discussion about Barracoon to it. The dedication of the descendants to preserving their culture and history in Africatown should be the template for all of us. Hopefully, the pending tourism will not detract from sacredness of this event in history.

Prof. As a fellow, proud Knubian (and virgo LOL), I want to thank you for the conversation last week on your show talking about not forcing the knowledge down people’s throat. I caught myself doing that because the way I saw it was that I couldn’t understand how people I know didn’t want to be informed. They’re okay going to work, going home, watching television (talking about celebrity media) and that’s it. I assumed that people (that I know and talk with) wanted to be a part of changing their mindset and unlearning things that was not empowering themselves. Just because I believe in service and answering the question “How does it free us?”, not everyone shares that and I guess it's okay. Thank you for the conversations and for Knarrative (my family). Meanwhile,....... I'm ready for the next exclusive shirt. I've worn the others and styled them to death. LOL LOL

These classes always bring a smile to my soul. Serving my military time in Arkansas was a great culture shock, being born in DC, raised primarily in DC, with summers in Johnston County, NC and a brief stay in Pittsburgh, PA. I found myself spending all my free time at Philander Smith to decompress and have a comfort level I couldn't easily find on base. I should have audited some classes because looking back I was there that much. I was blessed to have a rainbow of Black "influencers" in my neighborhood, male and female, professionals thru grade and middle school dropouts who arrived in DC as part of the great migration from the south. One of my neighbors drove a truck for National Geographic and I could spend hours in his basement reading those magazines, it seemed he had every issue published during his employment, and looking at the pictures that told me the world was full of people of color who we never saw on the three major television channels or those new UHF channels. Those photos that made one look back and wonder how the Black Arabs/Moslem's were displaced from the ruling positions in those nations once oil was discovered there. Representations and re-interpretations reflected in many nations, literature, art and religions.

I’ve seen so many renditions of this play that going in I didn’t have high expectations, but it was absolutely wonderful. It was a refreshing take on the classic. I attended a showing for those that identify as black and that was a wonderful experience, as some of the nuances that may have been lost on a mixed audience were appreciated by all.

Caught up finally...memories of my brother in the priesthood no longer on this side; he referred to the plight of finding a place free from white nationalism(we did not have that term at the time of conversing though) "The Plague of the Frogs"...instead of dealing with the underlying issue the people hop from one place to another which only brings their problems along with them

Col. Muammar Gaddafi had an all female private security vanguard composed of African and Afro-Arab women. Minister Farrakhan displayed for the first time an all female vanguard security unit at Madison Square Garden in 1985 to an audience of 50,000 plus for his “Power” lecture. Photos of both are on line. Power lecture available on CZcams now.
Also, Ethiopia, had a Jewish Queen named Judith or Yodit and a Muslim Queen named Badit…. Not to mention the great line of Kentakes or Candace from even earlier times. 💯📖👸🏿✌🏾
