People, I am the only Slovakian Hockey fan in Canada. When I play beer pong tournaments in Calgary, I even play as team Slovakia. My favorite NHL players are all Slovakian. Miro Satan is a god. I don't speak Slovakian, I've never been there and I have no Slovakian background. But I AM SLOVAKIAN! Also, RIP Pavol Demitra, too bad he's not playing in this year's tournament. Almost a guaranteed Gold Medal with him on the roster.
Man I found your comment after 5 years so I doubt you will type back, but anyway :D slovak hockey sucks really hard these times and its heartbreaking to watch. Im glad that you were or you still are our fan...its nice:)

Yes! I am Finnish and while Finland is of course my favourite team, my second favourite is Slovakia. Favourite players are mostly from Slovakia and Finland. Gaborik & Chara are propably my top 2 favourite players all time. Me and my friend have been playing NHL videogame series since NHL15 and to this day we still always play as Slovakia (me) vs. Czechs (him).
And yes Slovakian hockey has gone down from what it was in the early 2000's, but also true that it is getting better now. Just need some small things like winning some games against big countries to kickstart the rise of Slovakia's hockey once again.
And now in 2022 Olympics, it's gonna be Finland-Slovakia in semi-finals! Good luck Slovensko! If we don't get the gold finally, I hope you guys do it!
@@denisrichter4921man, I found your comment after another 5 years so I doubt any of you will type back… but as a czech I wanted to say that your hockey is the best and I love it❤ it is now 2024 world championship here in prague so I hope we can make you slovaks wonderful atmosphere and possibly meet in the final 😂

We have a new coach his first tournament with this team (Czech coach we had canadian coach before Glen Hanlon he was there 2 years and didnt produced enough except the olympic games) There are lot of young guys on all lanes, they want to score, they want to play and win. Slovakia is currently like a little time bomb filled with a lot off firepower that cant wait to be unleashed, its simply a moral of young team thats all.

Sadly this tournament is largely meaningless in Canada unless it is hosted here. So many of the round robin games looked like they were being played in empty arenas during this tournament and the games were on TV at 9am here so nobody in North America was watching. Good for Slovakia though, I'm glad that the Czechs and Slovaks are doing well. See you in Sochi.

It is disappointing but IIHF is largely a European tournament. The NHL playoffs are still in full swing. The tournament begins right as playoffs are getting going. If we get dumped in the first round of the Olympics you will see some very pissed off Canadians, this tournament just seems a bit bush league. Oh well, hopefully the Russians don't win, would be happy enough to see the Fins, Czechs or Slovaks take it.
