    Where did you find the 3 ohms rating, a quick search showd me that 5 and below should be fine ? Great video, i always enjoy them and learn something new from them

      Thank you for your support.
      3 Ohms resistance is optimal for robotics systems, and while 5 Ohms may be alright for certain end users systems in certain environments, 3 or below provides "bullet proof" signal transfer pending all the details are covered with the end users robot's double shielded cables.
      I've validated this resistance level from well over a decade of experience personally, working with over 1000 plasma CNC systems.
      While this specific number may not be disclosed online what is disclosed is as you wrote above 5 is par, then 3, or under assures end users success which is why I listed it as I realize with this being the internet/social media certain end users are willing to stay at the highest value acceptable.
      The bottom line is the lower the Ohms number the lower the resistance which means EMI dissipation is more effective.
      Thank you,
      Vince

    Do I need to ground my CNC chassis when spindle already grounded to inverter?

    • @corvetteguy50
      @corvetteguy50  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Thank you for your support. If the spindle is mounted in a non conductive fashion then yes. If the Z axis is conductive to your CNC chassis with the spindle mounted to it then you don't have to add additional ground points unless the chassis doesn't hit the targeted Ohm rating to be considered grounded.
      If you would like to cover the proper way to ground your chassis please reach out to me through the video's description for a consultation.
      Thank you,
      Vince

    i was just looking to contact you to see if you made fully shielded Shapeoko 3 CNC data cables, like a kit for replacement of the cables. im running into a lot of EMI related issues. I tried grounding my chassis and it made it worse.

    You say that you cannot use USB cables in CNC systems? What should you use then?

    • @corvetteguy50
      @corvetteguy50  Před 2 měsíci

      Thank you for your support. Please rewatch the video again to see USB has no place in a CNC system as universal serial bus is unstable due to grounding, EMI, and voltage spikes. You'll want your system to use ethernet for "bullet proof" signals. Thank you,
      Vince

      @@corvetteguy50 thank you! While using for example GX 16 connectors and sockets should the shield of a cable be connected to one of the pins of that connector and then to the chassis inside the enclosure or shield of the cable can be connected to the housing of the connector which is connected to the socket of that connector and the socket is connected to grounded chassis so that it's all grounded and shielded?

    • @corvetteguy50
      @corvetteguy50  Před 2 měsíci

      This is a good question.
      Either methods is fine pending the controllers enclosure is grounded through conduction from the unit's power supply as it should be.
      I prefer to solder the ground drain to a terminal on the GX-16 connector as its a bit faster for me to do. Then the ground lead once it has a ring connector installed is allocated to the ground bus installed within the electronics enclosure of your controller.
      Thank you,
      Vince

    sometimes is a lot of information overload ... and the influencers are not realy o reliable source of credible information

    • @corvetteguy50
      @corvetteguy50  Před měsícem

      I suggest if you're using influencers to learn from you do your homework carefully as the majority of them are only concerned with putting out content. My entire fail video series shows content creators failing to do any research, or if they did do any research fail to implement it. Thank you,
      Vince
