- Mulemena was one of Zambia's most popular musicians in the 1970s, due in part to the fact that he sang in three languages - Kaonde, Bemba and Nyanja. He was also one of the very first African musicians to use a drum machine, and he is renowned for modernising the Kaonde "machancha" beat.
Twenty two months after his death, the flame of his music was rekindled by his band who renamed themselves Mulemena Boys. In this album entitled ‘A Tribute to the late Emmanuel Mulemena' is collection of the boys best tunes. When one of the Mulemena Boys members died, a different group of musicians grouped up in tribute and performed under the name the 'Junior Mulemena Boys'.
