hi mr. Murray, thanks for the very poignant playing. Your arrangement is very warm and touching. I happened to know Teresa Teng for two years in 1980-82 . This song always stays in my heart.

indeed! while the intro is structurally & (except for bar 2) harmonically faithful to the original, the ending is slightly less faithful. for me, it made sense to base the intro & the ending on the break -- the part (in the original) where Teresa stops singing for a while. in the break, i changed only the melody; the structure & harmony remain intact.. thanks so much for your kind words! i agree, this love song -- like a second anthem -- will forever unite all Chinese people! .. all the best!!

I didn't come up with that poetic description myself - haha, it's by a 家喻户晓的 ("every home aware, every house know") poet whose name is 白居易, of Tang Dynasty. If you go to Baidu & search 《琵琶行》you'll see the original long poem. 尽人皆知 means everyone knows. 大珠小珠 means big drops small drops，落玉盘 means (the drops) hitting a jade plate - the crisp & clear sound.
