Honestly it might be time to just restructure All Star Weekend in general, it hasn't had any permanent big changes in a long time. Perhaps the League has to adjust to what's going on today instead of holding the tradition, I'm just saying it's a possibility. The best parts of the weekend was the Steph v Sabrina challenge and the 3 point contest. If they wanna keep it competitive than team USA vs. The World would definitely bring that. A 1v1 or 3v3 tournament could be cool too. Maybe prizepool and incentives are the issue. The dunk contest is tricky cause I feel it's a staple but most years honestly it's trash, especially this year, idk what they do with that. But they should definitely lean into the kind of things that were the most successful this year, the Steph v Sabrina challenge was definitely a success.
I'm all in for 1v1, 2v2 or 3v3 matches. Doesn't even have to be a tourney. Maybe the players themselves could decide who plays 3v3, who 1v1 etc.

Instead of giving a bonus for just being an allstar, give them a bonus if they win the game, win the 3pt contest, win the 1v1 tourney, win the dunk contest

Mix up the teams again (no more east vs west cuz that didn't help). Players on the winning team get a *2-win advantage* for playoff seeding in all rounds.
So a 41-win team that had an all-star that won the all-star game would get higher seeding than a 42-win team that didn't. And also a higher seeding than a 43-win team if they fulfill a tiebreaker rule.
And if one team has 2 or more all-stars, they must be placed on the same all-star team.

I think they need to add a 1v1 tournament with prize money to motivate players as well as prize money for the main event all star game to motivate players to play defense
The 3pt challenge was pretty good, the actual challenge that is. Well so was the Steph vs Sabrina one but the actual 3pt challenge was just more entertaining to me.

- bring back H.O.R.S.E. competition
- make another wnba vs nba thing like boogie vs griner
- make the dunk contest participants fan voting
- replace the skills contest or make it harder
- make an actual halfcourt shot event (not during the practice)

Move it to just before the finals when most players no longer care if they get injured? And maybe not have the top two league mvp candidates be captains and the all star have stakes like xx number of points to add to the mvp score thus somewhat affects the league mvp. People will tune in more if in the end of the game the league mvp gets awarded.

I think some players should not even play or participate if they don’t want to be there. Luka, Jokic and Edwards hate playing in it they should just accept the selection and let 3 other players in the west that would like to participate. The NBA game has to make a major change because this sport is nearly unwatchable not only during the all star game but in the regular season also

The way to fix it is to have the commissioner come out and say, "With the lack of meaning, we will cancel the all star weekend", then maybe.....just maybe.... some nba stars would want to fix it. I doubt it. And I know NBA wont ever do it anyway. NBA is now just a business, its not even about passion or love for the game. The players grew up in a nice place, and basketball is just a hobby or something they r good at. Most players back in the days, basketball was an escape, it was like all they have. thats why it means alot of them more than money.

Each quarter has a set goal. Which ever team hits the gold first gets a 50k bonus. Whomever wins gets 100k... so all these players could get up 300k each.

Besides money prize everyone suggesting - 1) do all-star break shorter remove Friday while actual games still happening on Friday and make them return on Tuesday. It used to be shorter break now players think that it is break and they are missing out on that so they do not perform well. So 2 day all-star weekend and only Monday off this way also main schedule will relax more and less back to back so win-win 2) remove skills challenge play a shorter rookie game on saturday - make only all star slam dunk contest on saturday and keep 3 pt shootout as the main event 3) on sunday make a slam dunk contest for non allstars (basically what happens in last 20 years or so) then play the allstar game afterwards with prizes for defensive goals included - having slam dunk contest before the game will make players to show them off more after such spectacle remember they were in the contest day before so they would like to take back spotlights
Don't worry man, this isn't a rant. You're right about the players no longer competing and trying in the All-Star game. It's actually becoming a problem and everyone is talking about it. But it's on them because no one will watch it anymore and they'll have low ratings.

This All-Star game had 4.6 million viewers, which isn't an all time low, but insane for what is supposed to be the main event.
Idk why they got rid of the All Star draft or the idea CP3 gave with the quarter and scoring with the beneficiaries of each charity in the crowd. The 2020 ASG was a success.

I feel in general, I've lost love watching NBA. Yes the players got better, but on the other hand, both defense and plays got worse... The only team which made me feel some kind of love was the Duncan, Manu and Parker's Spurs

I enjoyed watching the game. It made me laugh when Luka missed his dunk and then I was in shock when dame scored from half court for the first time. I had a good time watching

In my opinion I really like the non intense no defense all star games,some people hate them because they have absolutely no defense but that’s just makes them fun.
1. Give starter vote back to fans.
The viewers are voting for who they want to watch play in the game. If they don't get who they want, they won't watch. Curry as a starter brings more viewers.
2. The defense was the worst I've ever seen. This has to be addressed. Make defense mean something. Give a defensive mvp award. Have the outcome or lack of defense somehow affect their $ or their team.

I dont think anything about ASG will change. Players will always treat it as exhibition, no money or donations will change it. Next time NBA will just put somehing like Steph vs Sabrina in half time of ASG to boost ratings. Maybe they will move all Saturday events in between quaters on Sunday if they are desparate.
Nobody cares about “east vs west.” Nobody identifies with either side. There’s no personal stake in it. It should be a one on one tournament. Fans can cheer for or against players they actually have a personal opinion about. And the players would definitely take that more seriously because none of these guys want to get cooked on national TV

Everybody needs to get over this shit and accept it for what it is. It has NEVER meant to be an actual competition (in the modern NBA). All Star weekend is a chance for the players to take a load off, and have fun with nothing at stake. I love to watch the players have fun and not take things so seriously for a night. It's cool to see them all be friends and chill with each other for a night. Get the fuck over it and enjoy it for what it is, because it isn't going to change. You think the players want to risk injury in this day and age, when we're all talking about load management all the time, when the game means literally nothing? I doubt the NBAPA is going to agree to making All Star weekend a slog for the players... Going to the Kobe rule for the 4th quarter did do great for making it competitive to be fair.
