    All the problems were fixed. Instructions have pictures of each little jack'n'connector. Rails problem is solved with pre screwing and removing before actual installation. Thanks to your video and refined instructions, I was able to build the case in 5 hours.

    That VESA feature actually seems to be really neat! I could imagine pulling it to the center of my small desk whenever I'd use my rack and then shoving it off to the side if not in use, freeing up desk space in the process. If Befaco made an 84hp 7U version, that would make me seriously consider it... But I would need to find a strong monitor arm first 😀

    Having a cable plugged in while soldering 16-pin header really helps. This is whole lot of soldering. One man sweatshop 😂

    Didn't know it had a cover, this is now the perfect case for me. Thank you Befaco for keeping on making cool shit!

    The vesa mount is kinda brilliant and so simple to implement. Love seeing this different way at it. As someone who hasn't yet gone up to 7u but am very interested, having the flexibility is an interesting proposition. I do wish it had legs or something though but maybe Befaco will come out with a great solution for that too. There's something nice about having a tidy case. I like how my 4u doesn't have any additional things hanging off of it. Nice and clean. Thanks for this video! Lovely as always.

    That VESA mount is gonna be so good for you being able to video with! Thanks for going through the pain of the first build for us. Seems odd they put the HP ruler on the back of that board though.
    Just got my first couple of 1u modules, so looking forward to seeing what yours are like. 😀

    Just gotta say that while the VESA mount is nifty and seems neat, in practice, and regardless of tightness of the monitor arm, it is less practically useful in action. It's bouncy and shifty when trying to makesmall adjustments or plug cables in and out.

    • @MoltenMusicTech
      @MoltenMusicTech  Před 9 měsíci

      Yes, that's true although you very quickly get into the habit of steadying it with your other hand. For me at the moment the convenience of having it so movable outweighs the downside.

    Why not superglue the "black boxes" into position along the edges of the PCB to hold them in place while you solder them? I don't like the way they are moving around as you solder them, seems like a recipe for dry joints.

    I have everything mounted on VESA mounts in my studio, everything can be swung around and repositioned. My main music comp and tracking area area is a mobile hydraulic standing desk with VESA arms and mounted studio monitors and tethered to a long snake, so it sounds famous no matter where I drag it off to. Same deal with my stationary worktable, everything on VESA to allow for the largest workspace.

    Tape and RTV are typically used to assist with assembling components that like to move (or worse might actually break off.) That along with 1-2 helping hands would have gone a long way to making some of this easier.

    • @MoltenMusicTech
      @MoltenMusicTech  Před rokem

      I like to use a minimal amount of equipment so that I can show that anyone can do this with just a soldering iron and your wits. And I loathe helping hands, grrrr, silly things.

    Those 2 hardware pieces that came unattached are supposed to be pressed permanently into the sheetmetal. The way you have them installed will not prevent the PCB from moving around and might eventually work the others loose. Depends on why those 2 failed. The factory might have just forgotten to press them. If they popped out after being pressed then the other ones might be susceptible as well. They are known as PEM fasteners if you are curious... In any case, you should have a non-conductive spacer between the PCB and the case to prevent them from touching. You might be alright because the edge connectors can act as spacers, but you should be careful and let Befaco know about it too...

    • @MoltenMusicTech
      @MoltenMusicTech  Před rokem

      Befaco are aware and it all seems to work well enough.

    Looks lovely, I'd buy one, as im looking to update my 4 ageing, but still fully operational, Doepfer G6 baseframes, but the price seems a little high.
    I'm sure it's of premium quality, but €650 still seems a little steep, or is that the price for a fully built case, rather than the kit?
    - love to ALL, feel no hate

    • @MoltenMusicTech

    Thank you for the awesome video! I’m getting one. Question: they say ‘balanced or unbalanced’ on the 1/4 jacks. Does that mean they can take TRS for stereo audio?

    • @MoltenMusicTech

      No, each output is mono but can be TRS for a balanced connection

    What is your suggestion for a beginner? Which modules do I need to start for ambient?

    • @MoltenMusicTech
      @MoltenMusicTech  Před rokem +1

      Thanks! That's a huge question. I did a whole series of videos on how I started with modular - maybe give them a whirl - and then ask yourself what are you interested in doing? Are you building a synth? and effects box? a drum machine? And see where that takes you.

    • @kellymerrill5294

      It's $550, psst the built make noise case is better, $100 more but already built and comes with a 1u mult already installed. Doesn't have the 1/4" outputs though.
