As a proud Sheffielder, and someone who has had an interest in the history of the Sheffield castle, this video has filled in a few gaps of information that I struggled to find. thank you!
Very interesting and informative. Thanks for taking the time to do this. For anyone interested, during the civil war, Sheffield made musket balls from locally sourced lead, cannon balls, bandoliers for musketeers, knives and swords. Source: primary source letters in Joseph Hunter's "Hallamshire".
I spent some time in Sheffield and did lots of touring. This is a wonderful doco and thank you for your effort.
This is great, thanks for taking the time to make it.
Ten years on, the castle is being made a feature in the centre of Sheffield. The ruins are being excavated and a park will surround them. Up until recently a 1960s market had been built over the top of it.
lovely vid, ta.
