Thanks I gave it a try but even though I followed all the steps it did not solve my problem. I decided to do a reset and go from there. Microsoft and their Auto Updates are worse than a computer virus.

I made a registry change to allow use of HIPM and DIPM, which led to the 'boot drive inaccessible' error on Windows 10.
Follow this guide to rename and copy the backup registry and it worked!!!
Just wanted to say thanks, a reinstall of Windows was my next step, so this was a welcome surprise.

The problem is NOT YOUR COMPUTER. The problem is MICROSOFT and their WINDOWS UPDATE, and not HAVING TESTED ALL THEIR UPDATE SOFTWARE - CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
I had a customer who had a NEW DELL LAPTOP. She let Windows 10 do an update and went to BED. When she woke up the next morning, and turned on the computer. It ended up saying "NO BOOT DEVICE FOUND". I called DELL, and he had me go into the BIOS, which the only thing there was the SEAGATE HARD DRIVE, and not WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER. So, the Dell tech had me type in WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER, then click the ADD DEVICE BUTTON, and go find the BOOT FILE, save it, and reboot.
THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. That is to say that MICROSOFT IS FLASHING THE BIOS!!!
TIME FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, to MAKE Microsoft FIX their FAULTY UPDATE SOFTWARE!!!

Thank goodness I made a USB Media portable drive. It saved me cash and my computer. Turning off Windows Update has helped me a lot. I can see what updates are available and I can download them when I want to. Plus when I want to restart the computer I do not have to wait until Windows Update to finish what it is doing.

Invaluable information mate.I'm sure a lot of people just get frustrated, and a) just reload Windows..or b) buy a new computer...or c) pay a bunch of $$$ to repair guy. lol.Been there, done that. I've had Windows 10 Home retail installed since September of 2016 on an SSD about the same age and my PC boots in seconds.Do you know why ? I think it's just simple maintenance. I actually use CCCleaner (free version) and it has NEVER let me down. I use msconfig regularly and I stop services I don't need.Windows 10 has a crap ton of services running in the bg as it is already.I delete my temp files regularly and use disk cleanup.I still have 100GB left of a 250GB drive and I put all non essential software on other drives, even games and 3D renders are on an SSHD,which gives me no problems.Plus,I'm the ONLY one that uses my PC.I'm no genius or anything and I've become pretty adept and confident over the years to troubleshoot errors (codes) and whatnot, but PC's need maintenance just like anything else.More actually.IMHO.But I like this video for the change directory information, specifically how to copy to another directory. The admin CMD can save your life.Well, your PC anyway. Thanks a lot! Subbed and liked from me.

first try to locate where the windows is. is in drive F/C/D/the drive name you gave initially when you are installing windows or you can check that by typing in the command prompt From Boot Options start Command Prompt.
Enter the following and press Enter:
      1.bcdedit
2.Find device partition and osdevice partition values and make sure that they are set to correct partition. On our device, the default and correct value are C: but this can change for some reason to D: (or some other letter) and create problems.
      3.bcdedit /set {default} device partition=c:
      4.bcdedit /set {default} osdevice partition=c:
      5. By default it should be C: but if your Windows 10 is installed on a different partition, make sure that you use that partition’s letter instead of C. on mine is F. So you i start with the letter
      X:\sources>C:
      C:\>dir
C:\>F: // change it to F or some other letter you get where the windows is stored
or you get the error cd \windows\system32\config it says system could not find the path specified.
then follow the steps in this video

Here is a PHRASE that you, the viewing public, might want to ADAPT...
"I want to USE THE COMPUTER. I don't want to FIX THE COMPUTER..."!!!
TEXAS has a LEMON LAW that says that CAR COMPANIES "CAN NOT" sell a car to the public that is known to have problems. IT IS ILLEGAL. So, why is what is going on with WINDOWS 10 UPDATES and the WINDOWS 10 OS any different?
If you buy a computer, you expect it to work, WITHOUT having to FIX IT every time you turn around, and to make matter even worse, MICROSOFT has removed the ability to STOP ANY WINDOWS UPDATES, like previous versions of Windows had...
    ARE YOU KIDDING.
This is like going to buy a new appliance, like a stove. You get it home and start using it. ONE WEEK LATER...
You have to get out your tools, and work on the wiring inside the stove.
I don't know about you, but I, for one, would be taking this stove back to the DEALER, and tell them they can KEEP THIS PIECE OF CRAP STOVE, if not SUE THE DEALER and the MANUFACTURER OF THE STOVE!!!
    ============
MICROSOFT tells me, when I call them, that they receive 500 calls a day about WINDOWS 10 PROBLEMS!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING??? REALLY. Does that not speak volumes? It's no wonder that Microsoft outsources their tech support business to INDIA. That is to say that MICROSOFT does not want to mess with this STUFF. They only want to rake in their
BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, if not TRILLIONS, and screw the public... Look at all the video's on YOU TUBE. This WINDOWS 10 is worse that WINDOWS VISTA ever was!!!

I don’t really know what happened exactly because I wasn’t able to open the Bios setting but I went to safe mode and then shut it down. Open it again and then it came back.
But this is a great help. Thanks!

@Britec09 you're a genius !! :) all the menu stuff didn't work (particularly since booting on a windows disk doesn't enable my mouse & keyboard for some reasons) but the last set of MS DOS commands (where you copy regback files) totally did the trick ! Thanks a ton !

Now you say computer, if that means hardware then i allways install only the minimal, then drink lots of tea and LOL :-D
Memory is a shit for causing odd problems.
If its the o.s your talking about, and its windows, there is a hell of a lot going on that you dont see, drivers are a good cause of all sorts of problems, and the registry is full of seemingly cryptical crap, so if thats screwed i shotgun it with an earlier copy.
      Fixes most silly problems.
As i said, im no tech, but people shove there computer under my nose expecting me to fix it, and i do, but in a crude way in comparison to the way you would do it brian.

Joey A guess i could try that. I just figured out it was my hard drive cuz this is like the 5th time it did this for literally like no reason. a simple shutdown and turn on and it say inaccessible. I might just have to recover the files and maybe get a new hard drive but I should probably the your method first. I honestly couldn't figure out how to fix this thing and all my friend has done was reset it and reset and it's still doing this.

Omg! Thanks! After a lot of prompt commands, restoring point, i found that it was my BIOS setup, because i was changing IDE of the storage to AHCI, (because i heard about AHCI give better performance) so it wasn't able to find the boot, so i came back to IDE and everything works, so if you're reading this comment my disparate guy just change it again or if you have more troubles remove the battery of the bios, so anything was settled wrong would disappear and the bios would starts with default values, but remember to correct the clock and date.

In acer devices you may not be able to change sata mode setting in the bios
Then simply go to bios main menu and there simply press Ctrl+S then sata option will appear then change accordingly 👍

THANKS VERY MUCH Britec09, you are the MAIN MAN!!! I first encountered the problem by swapping my old 128GB M2 System drive with a new cloned 1TB M2 drive. Then started getting the "INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE". What fixed it for me was the Safe Mode, and I only had to run was option 8: Open Command Prompt ......... and run SFC /SCANNOW. And I am back in business. Salutations Sir Britec09 :-)
