😍Marcia (Hines)😍...the girl from Boston, Mass. who came to Australia & stayed. Much loved for superb on-stage performances. She's cousins with Grace Jones & General Colin Powell.
Jimmy seems to have a knack for blending well with other artists of all kinds and genres. He's just got that connection. And yes damn Marcia looks mighty fine here!!!
Marcia's one of my top favorite female singers. I first saw her in "Hair" back in 1969 when she was only 16. Even then you could see what a talent she was. She can belt too, but when she sings softly like this she is divine. Really nice to see a softer side of Jimmy too. He's got a great range.
Tears flow easily listening to this. Two of the best voices in the whole world. I grew up seeing both of them on TV all the time. I have worked a couple of Barnesy's shows in the 90's and seen him live on numerous occasions over the years, what a Legend! I have always loved Marcia, her tone is impeccable on every song, with a depth of emotion that drags you along with it. Thanks for reacting to this.
Wow bro, it’s fantastic to see somebody from the other side of the planet we live on, and enjoy and recognise real gifted talent when they see it. I’m a big fan of giving credit where credit is due.I would consider you being a real genuine friend. Brothers and sisters, a shout out to ya all that give us happiness with your gifted talent and share that with the world. Brother we love you man here in Australia. We appreciate the recognition of the talent that’s out there. Not just in Australia but world wide.
Wow! This is one that I had not seen before. Beautiful! One of the things that makes this song even more beautiful is knowing Jimmy’s history. This was at the height of his drug and alcoholism. A year later he tried to kill himself. A year after that he was sober, and in the 10 years since has become one of Australia’s most outspoken mental health advocates probably saving hundreds of lives in the process! Definitely read his two autobiographies ‘Working Class Boy’ and ‘Working Class Man’ - they really show what an amazing man he is!
Delicate, beautiful & clean 🙏 Marcia - add Jimmy Barnes….. the people go “whaaaaat” - oh Nick, that Singer!! You get it…. never doubt that your ‘expression’ through your “reactions” are just like this as you said…. this is not scripted! Raw, real, cathartic xxx
This version is much later than when Marcia first sang it. This video is from the show "My First Gig" on Max (Australia), 2009. Marcia born 20th July, 1953, would have been 56 and Jimmy born 28th April, 1956, would have been 3 years younger (53). She is now 70 and Jimmy is 67, as at September, 2033.
Wow, I've never seen this before so thank you. What a treat, two voices that you'd think wouldn't work together and they just blended like magic. Probably the same magic Marcia uses to avoid aging.
Found you totally by accident. I never thought listening to these songs of my youth and watching and listening to them by you in appreciation could be so entertaining and interesting. Am going to send you some more contemporary Australian music. 🎼🎶 Yours in respect ✨
I love her song Without You. I was in high school and I think I snuck into the workers club to see her when I was 16.I even had a big flower behind my ear.
Hey mate, she was my first fan crush! You should have seen her live at Festival Hall with petals painted around her eyes. Such a tiny thing, on the stage alone. The music started, there was a pause, then she took a breath in and it seemed the Hall didn't have enough air and the sound that came out just stopped everything else. She would have been 18 and I would have been 16 and she has been the older woman in my life ever since. That was 51 years ago and the image is now as it was then. Thank you, Marcia. You earned that "fishing" boat.😜
Thanks Nick, I just love this amazing collaboration between these two top drawer singers. I think they play off each other beautifully - I’d love to see more - maybe they could get Marcia to do some guest spots when Jimmy gets his tour back on track next year. (Covid shut down the 30th anniversary ‘Soul Deep’ album tour that was scheduled for this year) I hope John Farnham is on the bill too - he can’t have actually ‘retired’.
What a beautiful moment - as you said, Nick.. both .. have power vocally, yet they allowed us to witness such an intimate moment, vocally. Pure class, mate 👍
Marcia is a true hero of mine...a shining light that uplifts my heart and soul, when I hear her sing and smile...this duet with Jimmy is soulful and beautiful... thank you for watching and sharing this one with us...truly thankful that I got to listen to this tonight🤩🥰
That was gorgeous. What a great mix of such different voices. At first glance you wouldn't necessarily think those two timbres would 'gel' - but these very seasoned performers apply such skill & nuance that it evolves from the very first notes into pure magic. Love this.
Two of the best here. Jimmy's recorded a couple of soul albums do yourself a favour & try to find one. I love his voice like this. He & Marcia are almost camellion like they can blend their voices to almost anything. Great video 📹 thanks for showing it I've never seen it before
Glad someone got you to watch this. I can't get to your patreon so I have to keep mentioning things in chat and hope someone is able to put it on for me lol. This particular version shows off both of their superb low down gentle voices and range. It isn't about power but pure control, knowing when and how to hold back to bring feeling to a song.
Those people who have thumbs down really need to take a good hard look at themselves. James Taylor was quite the wordsmith and these three, the guitarist should get his accolades too, honored his craft.
I am just lying back on the couch on a friday night in Brisbane watching the rain come down listening to two absolute aussie legends singing together. Boy we have some talent in this country.
I got to see Marsha when I was 14 she was in Jesus Christ super star and I still get goose bumps now and I’m 51 . My brothers and sisters were older so I only got to listen to their music . I am so lucky I got from credence to James brown and so much more. I was very into classical music as a kid and they are both wonderful vocalist and both undervalued and under rated . Thank you xoxox
Jimmy has never been a selfish performer. He was the lead in Cold Chisel but he didn’t always have to be the front man and it made them an amazing band
I really love your videos bro ..your enthusiasm and excitement about small details in the voice and arrangement is contagious. Big love from australia. Also - have you tried vegemite yet? An Australian delicacy
The watermark of 'MAX' is the Foxtel cable channel this was on. That channel is awesome for broadcasting live concerts you had never seen before, as well as original programming and documentaries.
I suggested this on here a while back... glad you got around to it.
Marcia's voice is the melted butter before Jimmy spreads the Vegemite. 😜
Love it, do you mind if I steal it?
😍Marcia (Hines)😍...the girl from Boston, Mass. who came to Australia & stayed. Much loved for superb on-stage performances. She's cousins with Grace Jones & General Colin Powell.
Believe me Marcia can belt it out too!!!!
She was voted Australia's Queen of Pop, we love her, she is a beautiful soul, they are fabulous together. ❤
"Ladies and Gentleman, Miss Marcia Hines" Great album
Jimmy seems to have a knack for blending well with other artists of all kinds and genres. He's just got that connection. And yes damn Marcia looks mighty fine here!!!

No egos in this performance 👏
Just blending together ❤

She Played Mary Magadelen in Jesus Christ Super star.
Such a great duet and Marcia is an honorary Aussie - such a beautiful person along with her great vocals
No she is stunningly beautiful and the beauty goes all the way through to her soul - Marcia is one of the best singers i have ever heard.
THIS WAS A HIT FOR MARCIA IN THE 70'S
These performances are what makes this channel great, never heard these two sing together before. Thank you.

It always makes me cry, especially when Marcia sang it after the QLD floods and Victorian bushfires 😢
Marcia has a Daughter "Demi" who also can sing with the best of them.

It’s Deni😊
I Love Jimmy Barnes & Marcia Hines!! What a couple of Legends! Great Reaction.. 🔥🌨

That was just sublime!! And yes, you are correct - she is beautiful, absolutely gorgeous.
What a beautiful song from two very talented people. Wow, just beautiful.
So glad that you found this treasure.... It's fascinating to hear the pure voice when the music is stripped back

That performance of those two always gives me chills. It’s beautiful.
Goosebumps, and teary eyes. Best version of this song I've heard.
Came to Australia as one of the original cast members of HAIR the musical.
She fell in love with Australia... and we fell in love with her.
I love her song Without You. I was in high school and I think I snuck into the workers club to see her when I was 16.I even had a big flower behind my ear.

My all time favourite Marcia song. Loved it since I was a kid

You would not recognise it but Jimmy sings backing vocals on Ed Sheerans song “Visiting Hours” off his new album =

It’s hard to believe she’s now 69! She’s still as stunning and youthful as ever
Thank you man for doing this one.
Jimmy has never been a selfish performer. He was the lead in Cold Chisel but he didn’t always have to be the front man and it made them an amazing band
That’s Jimmy’s son in law playing the guitar. Also she had a huge hit with this in the seventies
