It's all heating up now! With Time magazine features, video advertisement clips, interviews and basically daily articles with new exclusives the upcoming 2 week launch looks like they're pulling out all the stops for marketing. I'll do my best to keep up wiht the important stuff but I thought these showrunner & producer comments were the most important especially after they just doubled down on Morfydd Clarks Instagram posts the day before. And during all of this, she-hulk is going to arrive, oh boy. But what did you think of the showrunner comments thinking Tolkien fans were all trolls who lacked language? Do you think Morfydd Clarks comments had any merit or was it just more Hollywood self indulgence? Let me know your thoughts below and as always, thanks for watching :)
I joined a random FB Tolkien group today (had like 65K people in it) and a post went up with one loser saying they get a good giggle at fans "losing their s**t over rings of power". So I responded with 'well you are clearly only a very casual fan if you find it funny what Amazon are doing' and an hour later I was banned from the group ... lol.
I hate their comments! DX
Those comments have no merit! DX
There is one simple answer to Amazon's woke revisionism; CULTURAL APPROPRIATION
That's all there is to it.
7:07 She..... she just said POG-ression ..... not "PRO-gression"......."POG-ression"
She can't even pronounce the word! lololol
Disparu, I think the arrogant and insolent way the so-called "show-runners" were treating the serious question of an informed fan about the star ornament on Galadriel's armour was simply disgusting. They are a bunch of bl*** talent-free self- over-estimating morons.
"False hopes are more dangerous than fears.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien
Great words from a legend
Annoyingly, modern medical science too, condemns false hopes as extremely dangerous…
now that's what I'm Tolkien about...
Hope is not a strategy
Nothing is more cruel then false hope
Galadriel was an EXTREMELY powerful sorceress who saw the light of the 2 trees, learned from a Maia herself and handles the ring of power Nenya (not in the time this is set but nevertheless). She is among the most powerful beings in middle earth, so why would she need armor and a sword? She was graceful, beautiful, pleasant, feminine, and her power was in her diplomacy and her magic.
Galadriel was NOT a "sorceress". She's was not an Istari. Her powers were not 'offensive'. If anything she was a 'Seer', blessed with gifts of understanding the minds of others, foresight and preservation learned under Melian. Let's face it, she didn't spend 20yrs crossing the hellish Helcaraxë in a gown. Plenty to be critical of but Galadriel spending some periods of her long life wearing armour is not one of them.
As much as the writers scream "female empowerment", they themselves see power as bein a man. That is the reason why every single "strong" female character theses days looks and acts like a man (or what they think a man acts and looks like).
It is deeply ironic at its core....and pathetic....
And she had the inner strength to reject the temptation of the one ring and remain Galadriel.
@@cubablue602 "offensive" ? You mean her powers were warrior-like ?
That's not entirely false though.
We see her "offensive" power in two instances:
1) She along with the White council drove out Sauron from Dol Guldor
2) After Sauron was defeated finally, she went to Dol Guldor and "laid bare it's pits...." - so the book says.
Nenya?
Nenya Bidness?
The scene where Gandalf the Grey says "Gandalf the White? Yes... that was my problematic name" ... that made me cry. But the high point of the series is when Aragorn charges the orcs screaming "for George Floyd!".
He's drug free for 2 years now
@2912s what?
@2912s lmao
When the orcs heard that Aragorn was fighting for George Floyd and they all kneeled and did the black power sign, that was great.
I’ve been seeing an argument that Tolkien was a sexist because he didn’t write many female characters…well Melian the Maia was one of the most powerful beings in middle earth in the first age, Luthien literally put the darkest of dark lords Morgoth to sleep with her power, Galadriel is one of the most powerful beings in the third age during the LOTR, Eowyn kills the witch king, there’s also others like Haleth, and a lot of the wives of the Noldor who he wrote to be smart enough to STAY IN PARADISE! These people don’t know shite. Hold the line Tolkien fans! GATEKEEP THE F$&K OUT OF IT!
Seriously, Tolkien - was a innovator with his characters. Yet you have to understand the time he lived in. That was the role of women. There was nothing wrong with manning the Hearth at home be it politically or morally. By this decades standards - Yes, he was sexist. He lived and breathed in a mans world of his time. Scholars have delved into this already (PHD levels) and just like HP Lovecraft- scholars have discovered that he did - in fact - live in his time and embraced it. People were fuming back in the day of the films that the depiction of Arwen was a bit more forceful than the author had depicted.
not a lotr fan (its my favorite movie tho) but people calling its author sexist for not making "strong" women clearly dont know who galadriel or eowyn is
'It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out to make a Tolkien series. You step into the writers room, and if you don't keep your wits, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.'
biggest mistake was the first claim
"making the novel tolkien never wrote"
this sets the bar high with the reading public, who actually know how to read and communicate ... unlike amazon employees
Tolkien never wrote THIS novel because it's shite and he never wrote shite simple
hey dont hate on the employees, hate on the people who run amazon.
they flex talent that they can never have about material which they can't dream of creating. Tolkien spent his *life* working on this after he developed what became his canon and these people think they can just type " Tolkien " and have their graffiti become anything near what Tolkien developed?? GTFO
That line alone makes me never want to watch it. Not even as a watch to see how bad it is. I refuse to even give them my time. The level hubris and arrogance is astounding coming from these showrunners.
They hate the fans and are premiering this on the Anniversary of Tolkien's death I'll cut them slack as soon as they show some respect, oh that's right they don't know what it is
"We're not up for racism." So let me get this straight. When a white person paints their face black, when a white person wears cultural clothes of other countries like native indian clothes, or clothes from india or asian,it's racism but when you swop the full white character into a black character, they think this is not racism. It's RACISM! If they so believed in diversity which to me, as a black man, you'd produce movies about African mythology, African history. Or indian history and folklore and legends with indian actors. Diversity, that word is all a scam. These corporations use it but they don't give a damn about it. Any business that tells their customers to "shut the fk up," is going to find them in deep waters they can't get out of.
Entirely true, and there are boundless stories or even real history with poc (even a Black King in India ! Or a black general in Tsarist Russia)
Honestly, considering the fact that Galadriel is one of the most powerfull characters in the Lord of the Rings setting, I find the idea of Amazon here, that a character needs to be in "Armour killing Orcs with a sword" kinda more insulting. Galadriel had very feminine traits and was strong, not despite but because of those traits. She could give Gandalf a run for his money, go toe-to-toe with Sauron and pretty much scold on any male that would just dare to look wrong at her.
And yet. Here we are. In a place where Amazon thinks making Galadriel a mix between Aragorn, John Snow or what ever the fuck they thing is "stronk", is a good thing. No. No it is not. You just put females in a generic male role and call it diversity. But it's not. It's boring.
Totally agree. I think if they really wanted to be feminists, they portay her as she is meant to be. Show that women can be powerful not only when looking or acting more manly, but they are feminine as well. This is a step back, not forward.
All of this was on purpose. I believe the current "feminist" agenda is actually to destroy femininity. And if you don't agree, you are labeled a misogynist.
Too few people recognize that Galadriel was, at least in the TA, probably the most powerful non-ainur in all of middle-earth, not counting Tom Bombadil. Her only peers would be Elrond, Cirdan and Glorfindel, and of them only Glorfindel could arguably match her in power, bearing the grace of the Valar. It’s also a bit ignorant to try showing Galadriel as young and rash in the 2nd age. She was born in the years of the trees, a period that lasted for about 26,000 years. That means that she could potentially be older than all the ages of middle earth combined, and tens of thousands of years during the SA. She was also in the years of the trees seen as the wisest of all Noldor, and second in power only to Feanor.
How she would stand up to Gandalf is debatable. Personally, I think she is above Gandalf the Grey, but beneath Gandalf the White. However as I always find how Gandalfs power worked confusing, it’s very hard to gauge. She was definitely beneath Sauron though. His form in Dol Guldur was a weakened one, and while it was way above almost all mortals, there were likely several other forces in Middle earth that could also have driven him out.
I think a more interesting way the series could have portrayed her struggling in her decisions, would be to focus on her ban from the Valar. Her ban was lifted at the end of the TA, and having her struggling to redeem herself in the eyes of the Valar could have been grounds of her being restless and adventurous. It was even stated in Tolkien’s works that she was adventurous in the SA, and traveled quite a bit around in the western and central parts of ME, before settling in Eregion and later in Lorien. I will reserve further judgement on how she is portrayed to when I see the series, but having her be rash or vengeful is just straight up breaking with her most important trait, which is her wisdom.
@@Paal2005 She's older than the damn Moon of middle earth!
But isnt that what you still do? Sauran entered battle in full armor. Gandalf kills Orcs with his Sword.
It must be so frustrating to take a beloved IP with a built-in fanbase, write it as your own story, and then get upset when that fanbase cries that it's not what they love and don't want to pay for.
"Why can't we just rewrite history and make money?!"
"Why can't I write Hitler to be as harmless as a misunderstood kitten?"
Sings "Flying Lizards - I want money" in Jeff Bezos' voice
Amazon already took the money and ran. This is Bezos' vanity project. He can afford to lose 10 billion just to make his fantasy a reality because he is rich and we are poor. He rather throw 10 billion away making a proganda piece than spend it making a difference to the lives of the poor. He rather make a few people very rich than help millions be less uncomfortable/sad.
@@backalleycqc4790 God, I would love to watch some story about how hitler actually didn't want anything that happened and just said the wrong things at the wrong times and people misinterpreted him. It would be funny.
"Why can't we just rewrite history and make money?!" That's extremely anti-semitic.
Tolkien, created mythology for a group of people.
Rings of Power writers, recasts a propaganda into a feeble imitation messageology that demands agreement with. Art vs trash, creativity vs blended social dogma.
Galadriel's strength was not being a warrior. Her strength came from her wisdom, her ability to resist temptation, her morality, her ability to see and know, and yes her beauty. She overpowered Gimli, not by strength of arms but by her femininity. What's wrong with that kind of strength?
Nothing screams J.R.R. Tolkien like modernity, industrialization, and corporate capitalism.…. all things he despised with a passion.

The problem with claiming "racist backlash" is that they're never required to show the comments they're referring to, because it's protected under a shield of "we can't share what they said without spreading the hate contained within" - so you end up with a Kafka-esque situation where you're _told_ people are guilty of terrible things but you just have to take their word for it and can't make any informed judgement on the content of the comments or get perspective on what percentage of the overall comments they represent.
thats because those hateful comments dont exist

I love the fact that Amazon used the agenda of "strong whamen" to actively bring down Galadriel from one of the most respected/feared sorceresses in the world, to being a mere swordsman.. or swordswoman? I'm not quite sure which one they find least offensive lol.

They would have killed to movies/ TV adaptations before they even started.
why do people hate the patriarchy, and which patriarchy is it, the British Patriarchy?
It’s just getting ridiculous now. I’m a woman. And it’s it’s eye roll after eye roll watching these shows and movies. If they expected the Tolkien world to accept their ‘interpretation’ of the books, they’re obviously deluded. And may that be the rock that they perish on.
Remember when the Sonic filmmakers received heavy criticism over their uncanny valley Sonic? Instead of berating fans with hateful slurs and tired rhetoric, they changed the character to a more classic inspired look and BAM a huge hit with fans.
The behavior we are seeing only proves how little they actually care for the source material. They just want to use Tolkiens brand to tell whatever story they want because they are neither creative enough or ambitious enough to make their own IP.
I started rewatching the LotR trilogy yesterday. And while there are a few moments which I wasn't a fan of and would prefer to see an even more faithful adaptation, they were still by far the best movies I've seen in a long, long time.
Don't watch this show when it comes out, it doesn't deserve it, plus you know that amazon will use every minute of watchtime it gets to try and justify this show. Your time will be better spent watching the movies, or better yet, reading Tolkien's books.
I, too, have plenty of misgivings about Jackson's LotR. I am a Tolkien purist first and foremost. However, there is no denying that his adaptation has a lot of heart and soul. RoP will have none of that.
But do watch the reviews of it by people such as Disparu and the Critical Drinker. Make their reviews have more people watch than who watched the shows.
I'm sure most of the false-positive reviews will only praise purely superficial elements of the series (effects, costumes, sets, etc.) Some even grasping at air.
Much like how a professional critic said that the costumes and the soundtrack for the film, "Cruella," were "the only reasons you need to go see this movie!" Because she knew the rest was garbage.
-No offense if you enjoyed Cruella. I did not. Just an example of bad reviews to justify a high rating.
@@guyvizard549 Good points.
No offense, seeing as how I never watched Cruella. First of all, I do not support live versions of classic animation. Second of all, I especially do not support them being done by modern Disney, since all they want to do is take classic female villains (some of the best villains by the way), and make them into sympathetic women, who were just misunderstood. Or take classic strong male characters and tear them down. Thirdly, I do not support obvious cash grabs. Forth and finally, I haven't paid attention to "professional" critics in years... maybe even decades.
I agree, there are a few points in the movies that make me cringe like Frodo and Sam in Osgiliath. But never the less: Jackson is closer to the books than the Rings of Power will ever be.
“And thou, Melkor, shalt see that no theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in me, nor can any alter the music in my despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not imagined.”

"Seriously you can't even work out how to say you're main character's name, no wonder you can't keep track of the lore." That is gold right there!
When it comes down to it, there is a massive divide between the people who read and love source material and the people whose only connection to a thing are the films and/or television depictions... Whether it's Sandman, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings. The term "toxic fandom" is only one of many new slurs invented
to attack fans for simply doing what fans have always done - give their passionate opinions about the things that brought them joy and that they still treasure being sullied by pandering and politics.
Online, I have been called a Russian bot, a sexist, a misogynist, and a racist. The people who know me find that incredibly laughable considering who I actually am. But bullying is okay when they do it.
the people who love and read the source material are being manipulated to hate-watch the show, they poured millions into this psy-op marketing tactic, which is why they have doubled down. amazon depends on you to hate-watch the show and then go online and say how much you hated it.
And who are you actually, love?
@@katarinadreams6955 is this a genuine question or are you trying to start conflict with the OP?
It's cute they use toxic fandom for people that held them up for years if not decades, for the casuals crowd. It reminds me of the same BS in gaming. Casuals always move on they overall don't care about the IP they just don't want to be left out of convos. Most fans give a shit and honestly support these people a bit too much. So they become so arrogant that thinking "we don't need them anymore" is gonna work.
Yeah if they want to get statistics about this show, they should install vacuum gauges around it, to see how hard it SUCKS
Tolkien’s son Christopher was the guardian, the protector, the sentinel of his fathers works. The fact that they couldn’t or wouldn’t do this while he was alive tells you everything you need to know. Which is, that they Always intended to shit on it.

Well, Christopher Tolkien didn’t like the movies either and the movies were a great success and many fans loved them.
@@Matthi2008 yes, but the movies didn’t go out of their way to disrespect the source material. He felt the movies gutted the books, made them into just action, and left out much of the serious nature of the story. To paraphrase him. This just shows how scrutinizing and vigilant he was.
@@yohef4537 Depends on who you ask. I love the movies but they changed and left out more than people will admit. I will still watch and probably enjoy the TV series, even as a life-long Tolkien reader. The simple truth is that all movies and TV series reflect the present that we live in to a certain extent. This was true 20 or 30 years ago and it is true now. Getting this agitated before people have even seen the final product is way over the top in my opinion. We simply don’t know what Tolkien would have thought were he still alive in our present times. He might have disliked every adaptation, including the movies, or he might have given the producers of the TV series his blessing because he might have acknowledged that the world has changed and that more diverse representation was necessary.
@@yohef4537 Jackson fucked up when he forgot Tom Bombadil.
The success of classic literature is not dependent on the creative license of somebody who’s aim is to make something commercially viable. They are missing the mark it is popular because it is what it is unchanging in a world that constantly changes. It transcends the times and remains relevant.
It never going to get old, is it? Take an already established IP with millions of fans, try to 'modernize it, and when those fans, you know, the very ones who are THE VERY REASON as to why said IP is popular to begin with, start voicing their concerns and criticisms about lore not being respected, blame them for being 'trolls' or 'bigots' and or everything else while also coming out and saying that the new 'modern' show/movie/etc isn't for them.
...Then why in the high holy hell are you using the name to begin with?! That is what I don't understand because they very clearly want to tap into the already existing market by using the name of the IP to begin with (Halo, Resident Evil, Lord of the Rings), but then they don't respect the lore established, get mad at the 'fans' that have made their IP as popular as it is, and then are all shocked pikachu when the terrible fan fiction bombs.

I read the books a century ago and the fact that Tolkien's women aren't usually warriors, but powerful sorcerers and wise rulers and occasional defenders of their homeland actually spoke to me more than a lady with a sword would. I guess I'm not the adventurer type. If anything, with these new fantasy shows, I'm losing my role models. :D
In the original books it was women who were the most fears on many levels. Freaking Morgoth was scared to death of Melian and Varda. Sauron was intimidated by Galadriel.
They should try this with a different characters look I'm not saying womens need to have sword and armor to be respectful but instead writing that why don't they write about some girl who like wearing armor and sword who don't want to be sorcerers or rulers she just wants to fight or go on a adventurers with main cast or something this is another criticism I have about the TV show it try so hard to be GOT lol it should be a adventure show
Galadriel is one of the strongest beings in Lotr. She is literally the pinnacle of feminine power in this world and in ours. None of them were POC. That's the ONLY reason they need to characterize others as 'racist' or 'exclusionary'.
If you are a Tolkien fan, and you don't watch this latest absurd excursion into wokism, you are obviously an ...ist. (Fill in the blank)
No FPOC though
"I don't know why they think there isn't"
Because white people are all the same, we're all bad, and we all need to be replaced.
That's seriously the way these people think.
Evil can not create anything new. It can only destroy or corrupt what the good forces have created.

God I wish I could give this video 1 million likes. and it still wouldn't be enough. Every single letter, in every single word, in every single sentence you spoke here was absolutely spot on accurate! could never have made the point better myself. they are absolutely destroying every single breathtaking thing about Tolkien's work, and about the man himself. I didn't think that people were even capable of being this worthless.
The one who was never intended for war ends up killing the witch king
The most powerful of the fellowship has to sacrifice their own life for the sake of the others
The least powerful being has to fulfill the greatest task and is able to carry the heaviest burden
The one who didn't want power ends up taking the responsibility of Kingship to serve his fellow people
The gardener with no combat experience and a fear of the outside world becomes the most loyal guard and friend and walks through hell and back for those dear to him
The two small men with least influence and reknown, end up taking out the most powerful sorcerer and free his enslaved lands
The most powerful sorceress and overruling queen uses her powers mostly to disguise her people and keep them safe and rejects unlimited power as it stares her in the eyes free for the taking
The most easily corruptable man of power succumbs to his weak mind and is able to reflect on his misdeeds and ultimately redeem himself as his final act on middle-earth
could easily go on, but it just goes to show how truly inclusive the actual works of Tolkien are. It's not about what people look like or what their gender is, it's about who they ARE and what they DO.
I really do wonder where all the money went to, it's clearly not spend on their no name showrunners, cast or on those low quality costuming.
Just imagine the level of ego it takes to copy somebody else's creation that is widely revered by generations without the consent of the author or his son, while simultaneously slandering the shit out of the original material, and then insulting the people who loved it by labelling them as racists and sexists when they point out that all of the changes you've made have zero resemblance to what they loved. Sums up modern society, eh?
Yeah kind of like this channel. He complains about other people's work. Yet ironically never has put effort creating an original work himself.
My friend!!! You just said the TRUTH!!!
@@KSmithwick1989 Called commentating. I wouldn't call this complaining either, it more of a discussion about people taking something good and smacking it in the face
@@kristianawilson9038 No, I would still call it more complaining. Most of the content is complaints against media, that hasn't even released. In addition, there isn't any pros/cons break downs or real nuance. So it's really not even commentary, in that regard.
@@KSmithwick1989 By God, what a load of nonsense!
For starters, there is NOTHING remotely similar between Disparu's criticism of the attitudes of the creators & some of the actors of 'The Rings of Power' & how they appear to be $hitting all over the legacy of J.R.R. Tolkien, & their churlish response to those criticisms.
And no, it's NOT "ironic" that Disparu dares to criticise a multi-million dollar TV show when - Shock! Horror! - he has NEVER created one himself, either. That's an absurdly retrograde attitude about critics, though not untypical of tiresome dim-wits who also have difficulty telling the difference between "complaining" and legitimate critique. FFS
This was a great vid. One the best I have seen of yours!
You really knocked it out of the park on this one!
_“you [the showrunners and cast] assume that everybody sees the world through the same [bigoted] lens that you do.”_
-Disparu
that final point of yours is especially prudent, and it’s one that needs to be repeated every time they pull this stunt and accuse their fans and customers of being the hardened bigots that they themselves are
This is yet another reason why this show will be bafflingly bad
Agreed, needs repeating @Disparu
They chose black characters for elf which race is described as white, black character as Tar-Miriel that is described as white as ivory, include black characters in race of hobbits which makes no sense and black woman as dwarf even that her character doesn't look anything like a dwarf. Who exactly is racist here? All of those choices are made for racist reasons. It is just against white people so it is right, right?
It's funny because elves are basically elitist by definition and generally look down on everybody else...
i would like to remind every single Tolkien fan, that the only way to show amazon what we think about their show is:
- cancel your Amazon prime subscription on the 2nd of september
- watch this sh.t show (if you really need to) only via different sources NOT amazon prime (don't give them streamtime minutes)
The one page in Unfinished Tales about a young Galadriel wanting to create and rule over her own elvish kingdom, which eventually contributes to her not wanting to leave Middle-Earth after the War of Wrath and finally being tempted to fullfil these wishes by taking the One Ring in Fellowship has a more compelling character arc, then anything they will do with her in TROP.
They’ve quoted Tolkien more in their insults than they do in the show.
Keep up the good work. As a long time admirer of Tolkien, I really appreciate your passion and commitment to exposing this crap for what it really is.
Best video so far. Keep going and tank you
Always a pleasure to hear your eloquent and accurate critiques. I agree completely.
The bunch of comedians behind this mess dont seem to grasp that they more they attack fans the more they drive away. Who on earth would watch this mess when all they seem to do is virtue signal or attack anyone who remotely doesnt like their non-Tolkein fantasy series.
Tolkien himself states in the Forward to the Second Edition : "As for any inner meaning or 'message', it has in the intention of the author none. It is neither allegorical nor topical". In the previous paragraph he states "The prime motive was the desire of a tale-teller to try his hand at a really long story that would hold the attention of readers,...". You really cannot get clearer than that! Looking forward to your next juicy videos.
Yeah, show is awesome so far. Battles, Sea monsters, crazy magic. Best fantasy since Willow.
Great vid. Thanks.
I really like your channel, you are witty and def get your point across :)
How many times have they doubled down already?
So now they are attacking the fans x32?
that number is so high nobody can keep track of it anymore
Ironic. Sounds a lot like Sauron's inability to understand Gandalf because he couldn't fathom anyone else viewing the world through any other lense than his own.
Dude. I just love your rants so much.
"…to show young people that female characters can be just as compelling as their male counterparts."
So... Arwen, Éowyn, Galadriel don't count?
Am I right in saying this "season" is only 8 episodes long?? When this show ess announced, and they said it was the most expensive TV show ever made, I naturally assumed it would be give season of 25 episodes a season, covering centuries worth of events. I didn't think it would be 8 episodes with a regular cast telling such a small scale story.
You can wonder where all the money has gone.
Small scale is all these "professionals" know
@@kristoffermaurer9689 Building new sets and $54m an episode. Show is a waste of $1b, so depressing.
I believe it’s 10 episodes, 1 each. They plan to have 5 seasons and they say it will be 50 hours of content. But, if we’re lucky it’ll be tossed into fires of Mount Doom before we suffer that far
Also there are obviously points with the two trees, before the first age. But then the majority of the cast seems to be from the end of the 2nd age (Elendil/Isildur). So they will either completely botch the whole timeline or just skip over centuries of stories in the very first season of supposedly their flagship series. This seems to be a commonality between these terrible book adaptations. They would rather invent their own shitty stories corrupted by propaganda, than actually just adapt the beloved series.
You cant have your thing you like anymore. There needs to be more female roles. There needs to be more representation. It doesn’t matter if the story didn’t include them, it’s not fair and it can’t be for everyone if everyone isn’t represented.
This insidious mindset often espoused by current day actors and directors will be the end of entertainment as we know it. It corrupts and ruins any existing works that people know and lots of future stories will be constrained by these shackles put upon them. Its not your story to change, it’s already been written by someone way beyond your ability and talent and its success has proved its characters appeal to people.
Don’t get me wrong, It’s still possible to create something that has these societal values and will be successful but only with new projects. Retro-fitting them into something long established like Middle Earth will never work and will end in failure as Amazon will soon find out.
I agree with you. And I think you have put it best.
The leftist cult wouldn’t like your comment buddy
I personally want to see Scorcese mobster movies with female gangsters
Right? If you don't like it write a story yourself. You don't have rights to desecrate it.
Great analysis!
Look how there is no toys this time. Both LOTR & Hobbit had them. I bought all of the action figures before Fellowship was even released. No one is buying any merch around this at all, to spend over a billion dollars & have no merch at all pre-launch, no lego sets nothing? Shows their confidence in this as a business. What a fail.
I will say it again, her power is in her wisdom, not marshal prowess. I get sick of it when people, and especially women, believe the only power they can have is through imitation of a man. This is a big misrepresentation of galadriel's character, and i will continue to say it until they see it.
Because her role in the Second age is one of the important "win factor" of the war of the Elves and Sauron and also in the war of the last alliance, because she chose to stay in Lothlórien with her husband, Celeborn, and be the first line of defense against the shadow of the east.
It's funny how people like the showrunners and actresses rant about 'toxic masculinity' but then use that as their model for creating a 'strong female' character.
Great stuff!
The time article said similar stuff to the yahoo one, and a while before the Payne troll quote they called him a Tolkien geek for checking quotes *on his phone *. Presumably he did it for the troll one too

The part where kool-aidman breaks open a wall and squishes the final boss, is going to be a cinematic masterpiece. Tolkien could not have written it any better. *Chefs kiss*

As reported by Time, trolls took to social media to criticize the casting of Ismael Cruz Córdova as the Silvan Elf, Arondir, due to the character being played by a Black Puerto Rican actor. The show's producers were quick to shut down the hate, with Payne commenting that author J. R. R. Tolkien simply described elves as being "creatures of dull and lumpish nature that had no more language than beasts" without reference to skin color.
Did they just name Córdova "a creature of dull and lumpish nature that had no more language than beasts"?!

What’s incredible is that if they wanted to see their espoused beliefs realized, they’d have done well to follow the source material. As Tolkien achieved their aims better, and far before than them. The Silmarillion is full of stories of fantastic teams made up of a powerful & able male and his female partner that he’d be nowhere without.
Yes, the concept of the alchemical marriage; the physical male with the spiritual female.
I guess the people of Amazon don’t understand much - if anything - of the anthropological, philosophical or religious arguments underlying the basic storyline.
And they call us trolls.
They don't have the rights to the Silmarillion, they only have rights to some unfinished poems and the appendixes of the LotR books.
