    Gil Hibben has a history of designing knives for Sylvester Stallone to feature in his films, going back to the Rambo III Bowie. Stallone has been an avid collector of Gil's custom knives and that relationship continued when Stallone commissioned Gil to make several knives to use in his new film, The Expendables. One of those was a never-before-produced, custom-designed Old West Toothpick. It offers a classic Arkansas toothpick style 11 7/8" AUS-6 stainless steel blade with mirror-polished finish and a solid brass back. Grasp this hefty knife by the classic hardwood handle and you can't help but feel the power of its construction. Includes a classic leather belt sheath with stamped Hibben logo. 17 1/2" overall.

    The grip isnt hardwood per se- it's a plywood-like composition. Looks good and is probably stronger than solid wood, but.. it isnt. I like mine but it seems more like a wall-hanger than a camp knife. Just sayin...

    Gorgeous knife, but not full tang?
    --
    Edit: I love :) hearing people make excuses
    for rat tail tangs. Instead of just saying;
    ''yeah, sucks that most of these semi quality
    Blades that claim full-tang are not, but it's
    good enough for me.'' I don't mind a rat-tail
    tang personally, but I don't like being conned either.

      Yeah, I hate being conned on the full tang issue. If the monster Timber Rattler outlaw bowie can have a full tang and sell for 30 bucks, why can't this more expensive piece of jewelry do likewise. Both knives are made Pakistan or China so what's the deal? Oh wait, I think I know the answer. Could it have something to do with more profits? Hmmm.

      5ive6ix If you do a search for ‘Musso Bowie’ on e-bay you can find some nice ones that can be tough and durable and unfortunately some that can be pieces of crap, you need to check on the steel construction though and things like their tang construction, Rockwell hardness if they’re made in the US or China or Pakistan etc. Research and find what you really want before you buy. And also check any local knife shows you might have with custom knife makers.

      @@Evilmonkey-ep6dbThere are many series of stainless steel, they hit it a lot in the video I hope it is at least the 400 series, a 440c would be equally terrible for the blade but I suppose this knife does not exist in carbon steel...
      do you have this knife?

    Safe to baton with ? What is the tang like

    • @MrZdixo1
      @MrZdixo1 Před 9 lety

      RebelForce8 It's stick tang, roughly reaching the pommel. Stick tang isn't necessarily a bad thing, however. I'm weighing up on whether or not to get one myself. Though that wood is soft-ish though

    • @RebelForce8
      @RebelForce8 Před 9 lety

      So if you hit the pommel with something, the handle will crack like with the cold steel natchez ?

    • @MrZdixo1
      @MrZdixo1 Před 9 lety

      Hmm depends on what you hit it on really, wood probably not, concrete and steel possibly, though I don't think this pommel is made for those purposes. Just remember this is a chinese made replica not one made by Hibben so keep expectations to a reality.

      @MrZdixo1 Před 9 lety +1

      RebelForce8 I would say good luck trying to find anyone hard using this blade. This design is very dagger like and thus is more suited for more fighting than bush craft. But I'd still consider it
