Perfect instructions, thanks! I used 48" round bars and the only difference is the tower adapter piece and bracket piece, which operate exactly as the core ones. This setup, plus the sweet roll set & another company's suction cup mounted roller allows me to mount and secure my kayak solo in minutes with no muss, no fuss!
I wonder how tight should i tighten the screws. Lost my tool from yakima.
I really appreciated this CZcams when I installed my Timberline last year. But this year when I put my skis on the Timberline one of the rails moved and when I checked it I found the problem: the sleeve is loose. Do I have to take it all apart to tighten the sleeve?
Hello. Yes, it sounds like the fastener has worked loose and to tighten, the tower will need to be removed from the bar to access the hole on the underside to retighten. May be a good idea to check the others at the same time. The tool included with the towers helps to insure correct tightness. Thanks for your question.
Unable to get the covers off to get to the screws
at 9:39 you said "if you are wondering if you can unscrew this too much, yes, you can." Well, I did unscrew it too much and the rubber strap came off along with the long screw and the metal cylinder that holds the rubber strap to the tower. How can I fix it?
Hello. It is possible to reconnect, though it may be necessary to remove the tower from the bar in order to better access the metal cylinder in order to reorient the cylinder to be inline with the threading. i crank it all the way and the bar itself still slides in that sleeve. gotta return this now and go Thule. Everything is cranked all the way and its still moving.
Hello. The sleeve is tightened independently from the flexible band, the hole on the underside of the tower gives access to the fastener that will tighten the sleeve.
That plastic sleeve where did that come from.
Hello. There is an aluminum sleeve that connects the bar to the tower, it's black so it may be mistaken for plastic. It is included with the Yakima CoreBars. If this is not the sleeve in question, please let us know. Thanks!
What's the diameter on the strap
Hello. The max diameter is not listed with Yakima's technical data, however, the strap is approved for the large diameter side rails found on the Toyota FJ Cruiser for example. To confirm fit on a specific vehicle, enter the details on our guide: www.rackattack.com/wizard/ Thanks!
I disagree with your installation using the line on the bottom of the tower as the place to set the tower. I’d prefer to have the base of the tower sit against the cars raised rail. The air gap in your installation is not as strong as seating the bar against the rail and makes a place for the air to whistle as it rushes through that being said, maybe that’s as close as the bar can come to the rail with this vehicle and tower.

Where are the bands and the adapter that holds the bar to the timberline post? Not in my box, website says this needs to be ordered separately for roundbar but I assumed came with the post for the corebar since it didn't indicate anything else was needed?

Yes, the bands are very strong, flexible, stainless steel that has a rubber mold over to grip and protect the vehicle's side rail.

What should the distance be between the 2 crossbars ? Since you had the front bar already installed, what is the distance from the front of roof to the crossbar or how did you determine where to place the front crossbar ? Is it just a arbitrary number of inches from front?
Generally a 32-inch crossbar spacing is ideal for the widest range of uses, however, raised side rails allow for variable adjustment to suit the individual. Also, positioning the rack and carriers as far back on the roof without interfering with the open rear hatch is best for aerodynamics.

+Rack Outfitters Well then, i guess the jokes on me hah. Im looking to buying a set and at first wanted the corebars, but it seems they have no accessories made for them. Im now leaning to the round bars for loadstops and snowboard holder. What do u think? do they actually make accessories like that for corebar? ty for ur time 😀
No problem with the snowboard carrier, it will work fine on the CoreBar and so will most of Yakima's current accessories and future accessories, however, the load stops are a RoundBar specific product and the only thing that would be comparable is a canoe carrier such as the KeelOver: www.rackoutfitters.com/yakima-keelover-canoe-carrier-set-of-4/

Just like the other crossbar videos, there's no explanation of how to get the first bar installed properly. Installing the second bar properly is entirely dependent on getting the first bar true and square. This video does nothing to help with that.
