Falls Creek is the closest alpine resort and snow destination to Albury, its an easy day’s drive from Sydney & four and a half hours drive from Melbourne.
In winter season the only way to reach falls creek is via Mt Beauty, other than snow season there is an additional route via Mt Hotham and Omeo which is better suited to those traveling from the Gippsland.
You can reach Falls Creek in a comfortable day of driving from most locations in Victoria and NSW.
From Sydney or Melbourne the best way is to take the Hume Highway, you can always take internal C(regional) roads to make your drive more scenic depending on weather.
    Resort Entry and Parking
You need to get your on-mountain car parking for both day trips or longer stays.
The cost for parking is covered with the purchase of a resort entry permit, which is required for all the vehicles entering the resort.
You can buy Resort Entry Permit : www.fallscreek...
During the snow season it is a legal requirement that all vehicles entering the snow resort carry snow chains, so irrespective of which type of car you have (AWD,2WD,4WD) you'll need to carry snow chains.
Depending on weather you'll need to put them on, rangers will guide you along the way and there'll be heaps of signs to indicate if you need to put snow chains.
Best time to visit : July end, August start
Other popular snow destinations in Victoria are : Mt Buller, Mt Hotham

Yeah it would be a great experience, have snow chains ready in case you have to use them and you'll be alright.

The bus ride up is good too. But without the front view. It's still beautiful. I understand the side of the road parking now. Thank you.

6:27 the cars parked on the side aren’t actually avoiding the fee. They are the parking bays for overnights stayers (which also incurs a fee)

Oh..!! Thanks for rectifying the same mate 🙏 did not know those are overnight paid parking bays.

@WORLDTHEWAYISEE We are going to FallsCreek for our first snow trip ever and I am in a dilemma on whether to drive or catch the coach. How are the roads to drive at the start of the season?

Hey Mahesh Priti, even I did it for the 1st time when I shot this video, but it was a clear day and there was no snow on the road as you can see. If you want to experience then I'd say by all means drive but do carry snow chains, you only need to put them on if conditions are such, you can get it on rental from many shops in Mount beauty and Alpine region. I did lot of reading on 2WD vs 4WD car and tbh if you are literally not driving on snow field it does not make huge dufference, my friends have also been to falls creek and hotham with 2WD cars, let me know if you have any specific questions, my friends took the coach and that was also very comfortable experience for them that day.
