- Today I’m in search of the Most Comfortable Shoe Ever and this company says that they’ve created it. The Allbirds Tree Runner jumped back into the spotlight when Obama was seen wearing it at a Duke Basketball Game. The Allbirds Tree Runner features a mesh upper and foam midsole and shares many visual similarities to the All Birds Wool Runner and Tree Loungers. Allbirds has made the claim that they make the top most comfortable shoes, so I decided it was time to put their claims to the test. Is Allbirds actually the most comfortable shoe? Let’s find out!

I see these around my office and in Silicon Valley a ton. Even one of the co-founders at the startup I work at wears them daily. They are like 350s for people who don’t really care about shoes.

They care about shoes, just not the same shoes you care about.
They kinda have a quirky, geeky design goin on, or in other words...very poor taste in fashion. Like the people who find the big bang theory to be a quality sitcom
They're affordable, comfortable sneakers that fit in a business casual environment, especially in tech; the list of alternatives with those attributes is short. Before you fire back with some cooler looking supposed alternatives, "cool looking" is antithetical to the goal here. Streetwear approved sneakers are perceived as unprofessional and/or flexing beyond one's station.

Gave the Tree runners a try. Super comfy, light and flexible. Im a studio photographer and use every day week in week out. You absolutely need to wear longer than a week. First day I thought what the hell I done...heel felt 'loose' which went away, like a lot of footwear they need use, but no lie they have succeeded all expectations. Wash easy and not over hot or ever caused sweat. Not once.

Happy to see this review. I was really interested to see if they really were comfortable. I considering getting the wool one as part of my winter rotation, but not really willing to spend that much on shoes that fill in the line up.

What would you recommend for comfortable shoes for people who walk maybe 3-4 hours every day?

Are these good to workout or weight lighting?
I own 3 of these (all in wool because I prefer sweat wicking and all weather use). I have the standard black runners, the olive dashers, and some tan hi-top mizzle runners... they all serve the purposes flawlessly. My only complaint is the tread on the standard ones has made me nearly slip outdoors in muddy terrain or wet leaves. Prior to them I have had several Ultraboosts and while these are not more comfortable. They are definitely side by side or right below them. Plus for the variety and pricing... they are definitely better than the Ultraboosts. In fact I havent even taken my Ultraboosts out since I got my Allbirds.

I totally agree with your review....I’ve been wearing them for two weeks.... they are good casual shoes but that’s as far as it goes.... I would not walk Manhattan in them or run in them.....I own very supportive sneakers that are meant for that......

Thank you for the very honest review. I felt the same way but I work in Silicon Valley and I'm trying really hard to get my coworkers, who truly believe AllBirds are the most comfortable sneakers, to put on a pair of Ultra Boosts or Yeezys. They try to be "objective" by pointing out all the technology and materials involved in the making of AllBirds but there is nothing soft, cozy, light, or breezy about their shoes. It's a scam and I hope it goes away like the other tech trend - soylent.

I fell for their scam lol they’re nice for wearing around the house I use them as my indoor shoes or “high-class slippers” if you will lol. When I’m going out on hard concrete I gotta have on my Brooks or Ultraboosts.
This is a $95 shoe, the ones you named cost $180 and $220. Those are literally some of the most expensive "soft shoes" on the market. That's a drastic difference in price and your average consumer has no desire to ever pay that much for a pair of lifestyle shoes.

They often go on sale for way less than that which makes them way more comparable to the price of Allbirds. You can go on the Adidas website right now and find Ultraboosts for $135, and I’m sure at other stores you can find them even cheaper.

I have a pair of Allbirds. Let me be clear the wool makes for a snug fit and that part is comfortable. But the sole is a cheap-feeling foam material and is not that impressive at all. The Ultraboost soles are 5x more comfortable.

Love my tree runners! Also love my ultra boosts, but can’t wear them for more than an hour or two. Extremely comfy, but end up making my feet sweat and numb, so I just workout in them. Allbirds > UB for me!

Allbirds are the perfect shoe for when you need to run out the house to get something quick. I would not recommend them for standing around for long periods of time because it compresses under your foot and loses comfort. But both the tree and wool liners are soft and comfy, and 100% the essential.

What’s the most comfortable sneaker for high frequency walking on a daily basis on a budget? Hundred dollars zone kind of budget. I work in a dirty job environment so I need to be willing to get them dirty I don’t wanna buy expensive boosts etc.
Looks like the Nike Downshifter 7 Triple black to me which I own and wear. Very comfortable IMO. 😊

Wool ones were comfy until insole wore out and then they stretched and my feet got hot and moved around in them a lot.

Bought the wool runner. The shoe just fell apart after 4 months of use. Developed a hole on the top. The shoe doesn’t hold your feet well. Comfy tho.

It doesn't look to bad, but it isn't my style. I think that it is probably pretty comfortable in general.
Il stick to ultra boost clima for comfort, for some reason the clima edition are more comfortable the the other ultra boost by far.
uncaged ultraboost are the most comfortable shoes i've ever had, and I have erythromelalgia...but if its similar to those then I'd like them. Although I can find shitty colors of ultraboost for around the same price so I'm not drawn to these.
With Tree runners I don’t have plantar fasciitis flare compared to ultraboost. Best purchase so far
