In this lecture, I will discuss the role of Chemistry in NTPC or basically in a powerplant. This lecture is going to be very useful for those students who have applied for the post of "Assistant Chemist Trainee"(By NTPC Ltd. A maharatna company). Aspirants generally remain confused regarding the role of chemistry in a power plant. In this lecture, we will discuss the role of chemistry in brief and what are the basic processes that are carried out by chemistry department in a power plant.

so far i know pH of BFW is normally kept above 10. That means quite basic, neither neutral nor acidic. This is bcz the mergin should be kept higher, in case pH falls, it cant be below 7. + Ca/ Mg salts get converted into sludges at Higher pH only and later can be removed by blow down.

Resin regenerate krne ke liye HCl ki jagah pr H2SO4 kr skte hai? Since handling of H2SO4 is easier than HCl. And it will give 2 mol of H+ ions
There are many reasons for using HCl instead of H2SO4 :
1. First thing is that HCl is cheaper than H2SO4 and for industrial perspective we have to go for profit. In India production of HCl is much cheaper as it is a byproduct as compared to H2SO4 since sulphur rate is very high.
2. In our DM plant,we are using MS lines(mild steel) with rubber linning in which H2SO4 can't be use.
3. HCl is produced at 30% concentration and H2SO4 at 98%. Handling of HCl is easy as compared to H2SO4.

Hlo dear, DM water pH after MB outlet is 6.8-7.2 but when you talk about the water in steam-water cycle,pH has to be maintained in basic range from 8.8-9.6 depending upon the matellurgy. So don't be confused between these two. DM water pH is 6.8-7.2 but the water is unit side always basic in order to avoid any corrosion.

Dear, There are two types of recruitment at NTPC for Chemistry personal. First one is fresh recruitment i.e. only M.Sc. & the second one is for experienced professionals for which experience is mandatory. Current vacancies are based on experience,you can fill the form but there is no worth but if you want to see the pattern of exam,you must fill it.

There are n numbers of private powerplants like Reliance,Adani,JP,Tata etc. and apart from this, many number of water treatment plants are also there based on RO technology like Ion exchange India,Thermax,Driplex etc.from where you can get the required experience.
More specifically traning regarding coal testing,there is an institute called CISR-CIMFR(Central Institute of Mining & Fuel research- Dhanbad) from where you got experience related to coal sampling & testing.

Fresh candidates are also hired depending upon the requirement. Generally fresh candidates are recruited after every two years

Dear That's depends on the nature of job. For general shift 9AM to 6PM and in operation shift it will be 8hours continues job( first two days 6AM to 2PM, next two days 2PM to 10PM,next two days10PM to 6AM)

How to crack ntpc asst chemist exam please suggest me
NTPC online exam will be of 120 marks(70 marks Chemistry+50 marks general aptitude), Chemistry will be totally based on 11,12 & graduation level,no need to study like you used to do for NET,GATE etc. If we talk about General aptitude,then it is also not too hard but you have score good in general aptitude test because on an average marks in chemistry is almost same for all aspirants.This is the area which cause difference in the CUT-OFF list. There is no as such syllabus for this exam. Generally questions are totally based on 12 & graduation level. No need to prepare like GATE or NET.
But thing is that from past 2 years, NTPC is recruiting only experience based executive. Waiting for fresh recruitment.....let see
