One of the most underrated bands
I mean they're pretty popular
I dont agree...many people say this. This is not an underrated band. It is a special band with special fans.
I think this is kinda true. Cake has been my favorite band for nearly 30 years. They gets tons of airplay, used in soundtracks, critics and fans love them. But they have never had a top 10 album. Fashion Nugget and Prolonging the Magic (maybe the best 2) were not even top 30. So maybe not underrated.... but album sales don't reflect how good they really are.
Underrated guitarist perhaps - Xan is pretty darn good.

I still think of this band being in their 30's. i looked up the lead singers age and he's 56... its kinda fucking with me. kinda fuckin with me. i bet its fuckin with them even more . bless you all if you see this and thanks for so many great shows.

I had the pleasure of seeing Cake open up for No Doubt in Albuquerque, NM back in 1997. They were amazing! I was especially amazed by the trumpet player who also played keys and percussion. The guy never stopped moving throughout the whole show! They sounded fantastic live, and I quickly became a Cake fan!!! Oh, and No Doubt was good too...
I saw them on the same tour, except in Birmingham Alabama. It was The Vandals, Cake, and No Doubt.

Highly highly highly underrated......my God
Saw them 3 times in concert. Simply an amazing band. Nobody else does what they do..... When I went to see them at House of Blues in Orlando in 2001, the place was so crowded, I never actually "saw" them...only heard the concert.
This man even syncopates his mime clapping around 11 minutes. Whenever I want tasteful, intense syncopation I listen to CAKE.

They came to my town in the 2000s. I remember just laughing at the ticket price and saying no thanks. they wanted like a couple hundred bucks for this??? no way. 40 tops. Still love cake, 90s forever
