It was Jim Morrison himself who had the car for sale on 2 feb 1969, but it didn’t sell and he used it to film HWY • Jim Morrison; There is...
    All the later ads point to Ray Wolff from Hi-Performance Center/Motors Inc Inglewood (General manager at Shelby), Probably he or the company bought te car from Jim and tried to resell it, Not known is if he actually sold the car. The milage in the ads changes from 14m to 15m, which make it look like the car was stil driving in 1971. The milage from Jim's ad (5,000mi) and the milage from Ray's first ad (14,000mi) show that Jim drove 9,000mi between 2 feb 1969 and 12 nov 1970.
    I believe; The car didn’t get totaled by Jim, maybe it got some damage but it certainly didn’t get towed off to a crusher, but instead it was towed off by Carol Shelby's general manager Ray Wolff to Ray's Hi-performance center/motors in Inglewood. Ray was the guy to go to when your Shelby had damage in the 60's, he could fix anything; www.ponysite.de/68_notchback_R... So he fixed Jim's Blue Lady's "minor" damage and after that he put the car in storage to put it up for sale later(see the ads in the video). Al the stories on totaling the car are stories based on assumptions, Tony Funches had one were he thought it went to the crusher, Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugerman write in their book; "No one was hurt and a few days later the car was towed to the repair shop in Beverly Hills." etc. Never was there any real evidence on the story, until I found all 12 ads. They show us that Jim's car lived on, in a running condition or 'Show room condition" as stated in one of the ads. Ray Wolff tried to sell it by placing ads, the last time on 13 oct 1971 months after Jim's passing. Did it sell? I don’t know.. I didn’t find any sign of life after 13 oct 1971, it all went silent. Possibilities are that the car sold out of state, out of country, was converted for racing, or was parted out. But taken the fact that the car was in "showroom condition" I think it survived.. Is it still around? Maybe, there are many possibilities, Somebody could have bought the car and it crashed/got stolen/burned down in the years after 1971, Or someone knew the history and stored the car (Not likely, the real interest in the car came after the 1991 movie, before that nobody really was looking for it). There are also some claims/videos on people possessing the car, but they all fail to produce evidence other then stories and assumptions. So for now the whereabouts stay a mystery..
    These ads shine a completely different light on Jim's blue lady, not based on stories and assumptions, but real evidence which I'm very proud of. It took a me lot of time to dig all 12 ads up from the past. The most special one is the one posted by Jim Morrison himself, I was flabbergasted that Jim wanted te car gone on 2 Feb 1969, before the filming of HWY.. Does it show the car wasn’t special to Jim? I think so, it was just a fun car for Jim but nothing special..

      Thats amazing that he wanted to sell it in 1969. It's not like he needed the cash.

      I've been searching for the license plates for years, closest I've gotten was VRE 839, it's out there somewhere. Great work. I had a correspondence with someone that told me Morrison leased a '71 Sublime Challenger convertible with white interior after the Mustang was gone.

      You're conclusions are right.. Everything after 13 oct 1971 is a guess, but when you analyze the ads you will get the feeling the car survived, this because they advertised it as "in showroom condition" in some ads, also the milage in the "Ray" ads change from 14.000 to 15.000, indicating the car was driven/in driving condition. If you ask me, I think it survived, but I'm not sure until when.. Before these ads all we had were assumptions made by friends of Jim, non of them had any expertise to assess any damage on any car, all they did is assume, nobody saw it get crushed.. Flatbed stories could be true, but when that flatbed took off it went straight to Shelby's Hi performance motors in Inglewood. Ray Wolff was a racer; www.ponysite.de/68_notchback_Ray_Wolff.htm he passed in the 90's I researched the obituaries, the only Ray Wolff that appeared was living in a different state, some more research learned there were 2 Ray Wolff's, The Duesenberg Ray is findable, but he’s the wrong guy... The search continues ;)

    Thank you! This is by far the best info on the Blue Lady. In all my posts elsewhere on the subject, I said “someone” needs to cross-check the phone numbers on the ads. Thanks for being that “someone”. Now someone needs to write a movie about the quest to find her…

    • @TheDutchGuy
      @TheDutchGuy  Před rokem +2

      There is a possibility she’s out there, somewhere.. Oct 1971 is the last sign of life, there are several possibilities why license VRD-389 disappears from history; she sold out of state/country, she was converted to a racer (Ray Wolff was active in racing; www.ponysite.de/68_notchback_Ray_Wolff.htm ), or she got parted out.. The ads show a GT500 for sale, advertised as drivable and in showroom condition in some ads, so the parting out and the converting to a racer are unlikely to me.. So probably she survived the 70's, but what’s not clear is how long she survived, Maybe she had a major crash in the 80's, or got caught by nature in a flood, twister or fire.. But fact is that these ads give us some slight hope, they show us that all the stories about the totaled/crushed/gone forever Blue Lady are based on assumptions, triggered by stories from people who did not have any expertise in assessing damage on any car.. Tony Funches is one of them, I totally respect him, but I think he makes a assumption on Jim's car by stating it got crushed, He probably saw it getting towed of, but i'm 100% sure he never saw it got crushed. These ads show it took an other road, Tony could be right on the towing, but the car didn’t went to any crusher, it went straight to Carol Shelby's Hi performance motors run by Ray Wolff in Inglewood. Any damage; Ray was a expert in restoring any damage on any GT500 (See link shared earlier)...

    Obviously all the stories of Jim crashing the car and abandoning it, or leaving it at the air port when he left for Paris are bullshit. I’m sure plenty of people knew about the car and how special it would become some day and wouldn’t just let it fall through the cracks. Your video is obviously proof of that. I believe that if the story was as simple as it got sold and totaled, that information would’ve surfaced by now. Someone has the car, they know damn well what they have, and they’re keeping their mouth shut for a reason. I also believe that the people who know the whereabouts of the car have probably helped to spread the false rumors of its doom on sunset boulevard. I believe we’re dangerously close to knowing the truth…

    $2500 was considered a decent sum of money back then for a used low milage muscle car. In 1977 I bought a 1970 Buick GS Skylark 455 that was Red/white vinal top/white interior center console shift auto for only $700 with only 50,000 miles on it. This refutes all the claims made by Morrison’s friends at the time of the accident in the fall of 1969 that the car was totaled and scrapped right then and there. Some have said that the car was totaled and scrapped in the early 80s but that seems unlikely given that Shelbys had high collector value. If and when this thing is found, this will be the biggest barn find of all time.

      None of Jim's friends were car guys, or mechanics. Any assessment of damage would be a guess by them.. They probably saw the car behind a tow-truck and made a assumption that it was a total loss, their next guess was the crusher.. But none of them saw the car get crushed with their own eyes.. The research I did shows that the car probably was towed, but straight to Ray Wolff at Shelby's Hi Performance Center/Motors in Inglewood. If there was any damage on Jims car or on any other GT500 then Ray was your man, he had the expertise to fix it, like he did with this Notchback; www.ponysite.de/68_notchback_Ray_Wolff.htm Which he did, he restored Jim's car so he could resell it. In the ads for the VRD389 you read words like "showroom condition", "been in storage like new" etc. Also the milage changes, showing the car being driven in that period. The last ad dates 13 oct 1971, It goes completely silent after that date, but now we know the car didn’t get crushed and that it survived Jim.. What happened in the 80's would be a guess, everything is possible, it could be a victim of a flood, a fire etc. or it survived and is out there like Little Red was, waiting to be found; czcams.com/video/qfpWW8EpkVw/video.htmlsi=-g4kqj235pVLABeW

      With no proof it's just a story like the eight others with the same claim.. They all took parts, some in the wrecking yard, some from a flatbed, some in Mexico some in New York... Maybe it's better that you discuss it with them first.. All the real evidence that is out there points to Ray Wolff Inglewood, no stories involved, on 13 oct 1971 the car was in good condition and for sale.

    Either one of two possibilities, #1 someone has it and doesn't know what he has which is highly improbable or #2 and more than likely what happened to it, it was wrecked and parted out years ago!, you know when Morrison owned it, it was in more than a few wrecks and probably got the snot beat out of it much to the chagrin of all of the Shelby purists out there!🤣🤣🤣

      Nobody knows for sure because it is impossible to confirm since they didn't keep track of VINs back then. But there is an interesting story in a video on the CZcams channel MOTOR'N TV and the title of the video is roughly 70 Cuda and possibly Jim Morrisons Shelby Mustang.

      Not Jim's mustang in that show, It's just a story and a look a like car. He talks about the Shelby experts telling him it's not Jims car, and they are right... Also Jim never jumped the car in a film and Jim never had beads on his rear view mirror. So all evidence he gots is the sand in the radio, a look a like car and some unknown people with non trackable stories.. Jim's car had vin 67402F2U00939 he could talk about that, but he didn't, he chooses to talk sand in a radio as evidence.. Also the video is from 2019, and nobody did something with it, no reveal, no further research, nothing... So to answer his own question; No it's not Jim's mustang..

      @@TheDutchGuy Yeah i actually read a lot of the comments in that video i read yours as well. It looks like Doors management got sick of him crashing it all the time whilst drunk driving and sold it to a wrecker. Did you read the commenter saying that his father worked at the Wrecker where it went and he's got the side mirror and taillight from the car and that it was definatrly crushed. Also its documented as being crushed. He drove it into a telephone pole and broke the engine block.

    • @TheDutchGuy
      @TheDutchGuy  Před 2 lety +5

      It's not documented as crushed, the only reason people think it got crushed is because Tony thought and told me an others it was crushed.. But he never saw it get crushed, he assumed it.. The story about a dad taking parts from the car is claimed by 8 people already, they all say they are legit.. All these people are trying to get publicity with stories that can’t be confirmed.. So i skip them.. Fact is that the car got sold to Ray Wolff, employee from Shelby, he tried to resell it, the last time on 13 okt 1971, it was drivable and in good condition... We know the ads are 100% about Jims car, and I'm 99% sure i didn't got crushed because Jim wrecked it...

    So the story about Jim crashing on Sunset Blvd. abadoning the car and walking to the Whisky A Go Go, returning and the car gone is a total LIE hahahaha, that's nice to know... The car even in 1971 is in "showroom conditions!" Since that place is closed now, the point is to search for former Ray's Hi Performance employees and ask them if they remember or where can we find the data of the client who bought it around end of 1971, it's difficult... but not impossible!

    • @TheDutchGuy
      @TheDutchGuy  Před 2 lety +3

      Maybe it's not a total lie, It's what Tony remembers.. I think Tony saw the car being sold and towed off after Jim had crashed it, Tony assumed that it went to the crusher and made this his story.. I think that a crash and the tow off happened but that it took a different road, the one to Ray Wolff. He restored the (maybe minor) damage and listed the car for sale. Searches for former employees are done, and his son was eventually found (Ray Wolff is deceased) But they didn’t produce any clues on the car. For now the last life sign is 13 oct 1971, the license VRD-389 goes silent after that date, which could mean that it is been sold out of state, put away, being converted to a race car, or being parted out/crushed..

    why was the common narrative that he wrecked and ditched it? .... if he sold it, it wouldve been commonly known it seems by other people, including the other doors.... has it been verified, that the private number when it was supposedly was sold thru his offices, that it was indeed morrison or the offices?... jim really loved the car, so why would he have wanted to sell it?

    • @TheDutchGuy
      @TheDutchGuy  Před 2 lety +6

      Because Tony told this story, He assumed the car got crushed, but he never did see it go to a crusher.. The Doors weren’t one big family, they were business friends, and when the business was over the all went their own way.. Ray didn’t know about Robby's Porsche's, And Robby didn’t know about Jim's mustang as they had there own life beside the Doors.. The ph number is verified to be the Doors office ph number, it was an easy one as they use it on all their stationary papers from the office on 8512 Santa Monica Blvd. I also think Jim loved the car, But Jim was also a person who didn't like possessions.. So the love we are talking about is't the love Jim had for the car.

The vast majority of them assume the car was ditched and crushed.... this would interest also car enthusiast shows wh/ run specials on classic cars & investigating their past. no higher currency in that world in re to the muscle car era then shelby's. when you throw in the story of one of the most fascinating rock stars ever previous owner into the center of a possible shelby still floating out there, you have a real attention getter. you should distribute this info to people in that world.

      I researched and found the ads in 2021, uploaded the first vid in May of that year, thats when it came out first. I don’t want to move to fast, sure i can promote and try to get attention, but it distracts me from the research because people push each other away to come with new claims.. Most of them about dads or uncles who took parts on a wrecking-yard, flatbed in different locations like Mexico, New York, behind a gas station etc.. I don't got time for that, as they all expect to be answered.. I think it's better to let it simmer for a while, I do share the video, but in small amounts and on places where I think there is more info on the car.. Also i'm busy researching Jim's naval sword, which has my priority now.
