I don't understand why people don't want to go to malls anymore. I like trying on clothes, looking at products in person. I prefer going to malls especially for clothing since things fit so differently, I wanna buy stuff that fits the first time around and not have to worry about paying more for shipping. plus it's nice to get out of the house (not so much during the winter though lol)

In Holland the malls are struggling. Even the ones in the biggest cities can have 40% empty space.
Mind you, they can look busy but if staff, stock and energy is becoming expensive and because of Online shopping people buy 30% less each visit your mall might be struggling as well.

The Mall Era was awesome!! It was a super fun time for myself and in the early 90's, man they were so fun to walk my kids around in their strollers. Getting photos in the photo booths that I cherish till this day!! The one in Phoenix, AZ called Metro Mall was a filming spot for Bill and Ted's excellent adventures. Before I moved there there was actually an ice skating rink in the mall. Then they put in an arcade and carousel. It was Rockin' in it's hayday!!! Thanks for bringing up all these great memories with this one Josh!!!

I normally never leave comments on any channel, but I feel like I have to this time. I used to love going to the Galleria as a kid; was always a blast! Viewing footage of the interior gives off a HUGE sense of both nostalgic and melancholic emotions. I last visited this mall in 2018, 2019 and it was like walking in an eerie ghost town. It had such an immense dead feeling. The sense of a bygone era and how much that has radically changed since the Galleria's inception. Sad to see it go, but I'm thankful for the copious number of great memories I had at the Silver City Galleria. Cheers, Josh for making this video!

Man, this was so tough to watch. My grandmother passed away last year and we used to come here often in the 90's as kids. My most clear and favorite memory was going to the food court after a day of being dragged around everywhere in the mall lol. They had tables right near the huge wall to ceiling glass window and it was such a nice view if you could snag seats there. Especially on a clear and sunny day.
Going into Gamestop and rushing because my Grandmother had no interest in being there lol. Checking out the puppies at the pet store and the fish at that aquatic store. My cousin tried bonding with me one day and brought me there to hang out. Always appreciated that so it stood in my memory.
Oh and don't forget the massive bungie bounce thing they had where you guys were hover boarding. I was always too scared to try it lol.
The last clip was gut wrenching for me and made me very uneasy. My mind kept relating it to my grandmothers death and it kind of choked me up.
Thank you for this though. It was beautiful to watch and reminisce.

Never got a job there, but many of my high school classmates did. I spent so much time there between 1992-1993, back when the mall was the place to be (and pretty much the only place worth going to in the area). Its surreal seeing it so empty.

I used to live in Taunton back in 2009 till 2021. I spent a good chunk of my childhood shopping at the Galleria cause they had the Disney Store and the Build-a-Bear. But when those stores left the mall, you could visibly see the decline as stores left one by one. I loved going there just to walk around and see what stores had, especially the F.Y.E . It killed a part of me when I heard the mall finally closed down and was later demolished. Awesome video, really neat to see normally busy places empty like that, very eerie, very backrooms.

    • @RealFableFox
      @RealFableFox Před rokem

Sadly, online shopping (depending on product) you can optimize distribution. You don't have to pay space for something people not willing to buy ( for example I once walk into a bag shop, with some bags are actually out of production and the online store already sold it out at 70% off, yet the shop still selling it at full price.
Also with so much online shopping, the numbers reduced the cost of shipping - I still remember the cost of mail order for something you just can't get locally.
Some trends just caught on. I always wonder what will happen to food orders / delivery (other than fast food) once there is no more lock-down. Actually it was super busy. I went to my favorites' restaurant and the online order machine kept on ringing.
      Oh well.

What you were mentioning at the end makes sense, like in the last few years there's been a combination of things contributing to the decline of malls....But it isn't happening equally everywhere. In my area there is a mega popular, huge mall, it's always SUPER busy, and I try not to come on the weekends cause it's just too chaotic and packed...It's becoming more and more a luxury mall tho, so I guess richer people can afford to buy nice things more often, I wish there were more affordable stores there, and there's a movie theatre there too, it's not super busy anymore, but I think it's slowly coming back to life since lockdowns are over.
Then we have another mall, it's been like a ghost town for years, because they were turning it into this "Amazing" shopping complex on the outside, meanwhile most people couldn't easily get access to the original mall, AND then COVID hit as well...So the original mall has almost no stores left, meanwhile the new area outside is booming with all fancy restaurants and fancy stores....The food court inside got completely gutted and they built a brand new food court with only luxury eateries... 😐 I want to eat there but it's all so expensive.
It's kind of a weird mall that's still undergoing it's transformation....A combination of ghost town and modern luxury together
..You'd have to see it to believe it lol

After death: Ecclesiastes 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Meaning: Saved souls shall go into ABRAHAM`S BOSOM and unsaved into hell, for these 2 are holding places for the departed human SPIRITS.
Only ones who “ghost” in this realm without body is the evil spirits:
