So many great books on your list!! I have to check out "high how we go in the dark"! Yellowface is also on my list to read soon!! I had so much fun filming this tag myself, I will make it into an annual tradition! I hope the rest of the year will surprise you with more favorites!!
how high we go in the dark is so enthralling. It might be uneven but it absolutely haunts me
the ending story is one of those things I wonder if it's stronger in the original language maybe because i kind of forgot it after i read it
The best book I've read this year is definitely The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab (very late to the party), but it's followed pretty closely by Season of the Witch: Enchantment, Terror and Deliverance in the City of Love by David Talbot. Season of the Witch is a nonfiction history of San Francisco California in the late 1960s through the early 1980s, specifically through a political lense. I really got into it because I work in and live near San Francisco. It was fascinating to learn about this particular time period because it was so culturally relevant, not just to the area, but to American culture in general.
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke (again, very late to the party) is a new favorite that I just wrapped up a few days ago.
Invisible Life was by far the most common answer last year when I asked people what their favourite read of the whole year was so I'm glad to hear you loved it too! I'm still to read Piranesi so also very late to the party 😅
The spring break cheer 😅 I also loved hmrc and pre ordered the sequel 💚

i feel ya, i'm very stingy with my 5 star reads but i managed to find 3 this year! a good girl's guide to murder, the hunger games (not sure if rereads count 😂) and fourth wing! i'm really hoping the rest of 2023 will bring in more 5 stars for all of us ✨

My favorite books this year is Once Upon a K-Prom by Kat Cho and Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han! I also reread Daisy Jones and the Six which remains one of my favorite books of all time!

My favourite books so far we The Sword of Kaigen, Fourth Wing [honestly a big surprise], and I just finished The Way of Kings and can't wait to read all of Stormlight now.

I've read some amazing books this year. My faves are the frostheart series. Amari and the Night Brothers. Threadneedle. The left-handed booksellers of london & the cat who saves books.

My favourite book I've read so far this year was Fourth Wing!

So far my best reads of the year have been the Savage Rebellion series by Matt Wallace, so underrated but fun and unexpected in so many ways! I’m on book 3 now and loving it to bits 😁
There's something very magical about finding a series that just keeps you wanting more!
Two 5 star reads in 23 for me- Learwife; and Hula - also biggest surprise- didn’t see that coming.
I am also a beekeeper and LOVE a good bee aesthetic!!!!🐝 although my copy of Alone With You in the Ether doesn’t have that… 🥲I’m more pumped to read it now! ❤

I had 3x 5⭐️ Project Hail Mary, Martian and Elantris. I read/listened to them in one breath. I think that’s a pretty good score for 6 months. If I get another 3 that I love so much in the second half of the year I’ll definitely be super happy
Yes! Another Elantris enjoyer! Not that people hate it, but I just don't find that it gets the same appreciation as Sanderson's other books.
I LOVED Elantris too! And Project Hail Mary was my top pick from last year so so glad you liked it!

My favorite so far, new to me but not new release, Remnant Population by Elizabeth Moon. I was def surprised by how much I loved this book and that it stuck with me.

Just finished Strange Weather in Tokyo and it definitely has that lost in your 30's, prefer to be alone and everything is okay with a very real seeming love take on that aspect of life.

I've only had two 5 star reads for the year so far, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches and Fourth Wing.

Would recommend "Dark Eden" series by Chris Beckett, since you love sci-fi. I really enjoyed the wordplay in this one, although read it in translation. It tempts me to read them again in English, since I bought the set of three after reading them from the library - they are pretty expensive in their polish edition now and the last volume hasn't been translated yet.

Not me knowing it was The Stone Sky as you said you loved the first one and didn't enjoy the second one as much. I haven't read The Stone Sky yet cause' so many are disappointed in it and I'm scared haha

The whole time you were talking about your most disappointing book and building it up I was sure it was gonna be that one. Sad I guessed right but I’m still excited to continue on the series.
I still need to read Saga Vol. 10 but I did enjoy marathoning them so I may wait until Vol. 11 is out.
I’m also eagerly awaiting my FL copy of Shadow Cabinet!
I’ve only had 3 5 stars so far this year - one being our June Moonie read.
I’m not sure about our July read it. I may pick it up if I have time (or I’ll wait for people’s opinions first)
