Enjoyed this. Would be interesting hear you talk about pleasures like cigars, alchohol, sweets, caffeine, video games, social media, tv, movies - when is it a sin to consume these things? I've recently begun smoking small cigars.
The answer is simple - excess is when it becomes sinful. I smoke cigars once in a while too. Nowhere does it say that smoking is a sin. I know priests who also enjoy the occasional cigar. As for what constitutes excess? Here’s how I look at it - if you have to ask yourself the question, that means you’re probably too close to the line and you should take a step back.
@@michael.di3 Thanks. I believe Michael Knowles said he smokes 1-2 cigars per day. I smoke around 1-2 small cigars a day usually (which takes 5-8 minutes each to smoke). I don't think this is too much but I don't know.
Best episode I can remember, especially the conversation about arguing. Looking forward to Tim's book!
I wish you guys were around when I was young. What a blessing this podcast is
To be fair, chastity is not about swearing - I am someone who tries to swear as little as possible but I’m not confessing it if I don’t

Leave and cleave sounds like a title for a slasher movie.

Somebody's fell into the profanity bucket. Not a good place to be for someone professing a chaste life.
This fear of profanity is part of why people perceive Chrisianity as weak and effeminate.
Swearing now and then to make a point is different than being crude all the time.
