- I have been wanting to make a Backgammon board for a while now. I also have been wanting to try my hand at veneer work. This is my first time veneering anything. If I say so myself, "Pretty Damn Good" Today I finish the project and show it off.

Beautiful job on that Backgammon board Mike. Fantastic!
Thank you Dave
Great video, thanks for taking the time to film, edit and narrate.
Thanks
It's really beautiful!
Thank you very much
Awesome job Mike the board is perfect. It’s one of those pieces you can’t decide if it looks better open or closed. Mike you knocked this one out of the park. Incredible build
Thank you Thom
Gray looking project Mike. I like the sharpness of everything.
God Bless my friend.
Thanks Frank
Looks great. Nicely done!
thank you Joe
Truly impressive work Mike! 👍👊

Very nicely done Mike! The method you used for cutting the box apart was something I will remember.
ya thats a good one to remember

Thanks Dave
Wow! turned out reaaallly nice, Mike
Thank you Moy
Thats a beautiful work! Looks awsome with that finish :)
Thank you very much I work hard on it
I believe the joint you were talking about is called a locking rabbit I use it all the time building drawer boxes
ya, I think your right
The board looks really nice, good job. Couple of small details: 1. as per another comment, it would look even better if there was no gap in the middle between the 2 halves. 2. the size of the checkrs - it's nice if when you put 6 checkers on adjacent points that they are a snug fit, with no gaps. Your checkers look slightly small.
thanks
Great work Mike. And the finish looks awesome! Congrats!
Thank you Guy, and thanks again for the veneer and advise
Wow...awesome 😍
Thank you very much
Great job thank you
Thank you
Nice and really nice 👍🏼
Thank you Tom
Beautiful :) !!
Thank you Pam
Locking Rabbet, is what it is called. Did all my kitchen cabinets using that joint.
I was close, lol. Thanks Dave
Looks fantastic!! Congrats! Just curious, what is the size of the chips? Those would be a pretty easy lathe protect. I've got a small lathe, would be glad to help if you don't have one.
I have a lathe and though about making them it was so much easy to buy these cost $7. 1.25” on the chips. If your bored go for it. I thought it would be faster easy just to buy.
Great project! The board looks great. About how much do you think it would cost to complete a project like this? Many thanks
Not much material to it mostly time. If I sold it i probably charge 200. But if you build it and had to buy everything may $50
Great work! If you were to make the chips yourself, how would you go about it? Kinda feel making them yourself would top off an otherwise great project.
I would for sure use the lathe and I’ve been thinking about do it. Not hard work but time consuming
Wow.
Thanks Mike
That’s a terrific backgammon set you built. I tried going to your listed website in order to obtain or purchase plans but the site wasn’t working. Is there anyway of getting a set of plans?
i turned the website off, I didn't have plans for this one sorry
Super cool. No plans available for this?
Thank you, sorry no plans
You just like saying "butt joint". I know. Looks awesome Mike. Cheers! Chris.
Thanks Chris, butt joint, butt joint, butt joint
very nice work. I think the chip size should be inherent to the size of the triangles. when you have 6 chips lined up on the bottom there should be little room for movement between chips
Probably right
I play a lot of backgammon
@@mfwoodshop do you have a lathe? make your own?
You only have 12 chips, I think they sent you the checkers set, not the backgammon. Did you ever get this set together and the chip arch made? Thanks for showing this.
no i never did, I did buy a second set of those chips.
You COULD make your own gammons, or as you call them, chips.
yup
There has to be no gap between the two parts, there is special hinge for that. Also you forgot to make the chips holder inside.
Thanks
the reason you only got 24 pieces is they are "checkers' or 'draught' pieces not backgammon pieces. They should be 35 mm diameter per piece. Great board though
Thanks
