  • I have been wanting to make a Backgammon board for a while now. I also have been wanting to try my hand at veneer work. This is my first time veneering anything. If I say so myself, "Pretty Damn Good" Today I finish the project and show it off.

    Awesome job Mike the board is perfect. It’s one of those pieces you can’t decide if it looks better open or closed. Mike you knocked this one out of the park. Incredible build

    Gray looking project Mike. I like the sharpness of everything.

    Very nicely done Mike! The method you used for cutting the box apart was something I will remember.

    I believe the joint you were talking about is called a locking rabbit I use it all the time building drawer boxes

    The board looks really nice, good job. Couple of small details: 1. as per another comment, it would look even better if there was no gap in the middle between the 2 halves. 2. the size of the checkrs - it's nice if when you put 6 checkers on adjacent points that they are a snug fit, with no gaps. Your checkers look slightly small.

    Looks fantastic!! Congrats! Just curious, what is the size of the chips? Those would be a pretty easy lathe protect. I've got a small lathe, would be glad to help if you don't have one.

    • @mfwoodshop
      @mfwoodshop  Před 6 lety +1

      I have a lathe and though about making them it was so much easy to buy these cost $7. 1.25” on the chips. If your bored go for it. I thought it would be faster easy just to buy.

    Great project! The board looks great. About how much do you think it would cost to complete a project like this? Many thanks

    • @mfwoodshop
      @mfwoodshop  Před 4 lety

      Not much material to it mostly time. If I sold it i probably charge 200. But if you build it and had to buy everything may $50

    Great work! If you were to make the chips yourself, how would you go about it? Kinda feel making them yourself would top off an otherwise great project.

    • @mfwoodshop
      @mfwoodshop  Před 6 lety

      I would for sure use the lathe and I’ve been thinking about do it. Not hard work but time consuming

    That’s a terrific backgammon set you built. I tried going to your listed website in order to obtain or purchase plans but the site wasn’t working. Is there anyway of getting a set of plans?

    very nice work. I think the chip size should be inherent to the size of the triangles. when you have 6 chips lined up on the bottom there should be little room for movement between chips

  • @David-fv7zg
    @David-fv7zg Před 4 lety +1

    You only have 12 chips, I think they sent you the checkers set, not the backgammon. Did you ever get this set together and the chip arch made? Thanks for showing this.

    • @mfwoodshop
      @mfwoodshop  Před 4 lety

      no i never did, I did buy a second set of those chips.

  • @JoniWagner
    @JoniWagner Před 4 lety +1

    You COULD make your own gammons, or as you call them, chips.

  • @rezajavid1680
    @rezajavid1680 Před 5 lety

    There has to be no gap between the two parts, there is special hinge for that. Also you forgot to make the chips holder inside.

  • @nickilly2474
    @nickilly2474 Před rokem +1

    the reason you only got 24 pieces is they are "checkers' or 'draught' pieces not backgammon pieces. They should be 35 mm diameter per piece. Great board though
