Info on scuba diving visits the Trois Freres Distillery at La Plaine St. André and speaks with managing director and co owner, Richard d'Offay. Richard and his brother, Bernard started the business back in 2002 and now Takamaka is a brand known all over the Seychelles and beyond.
We sample the five core products and talk about how Takamaka came into being - originating as a recipe by their grandfather many years ago.
It is interesting to note that the d'Offay family can trace its roots back to one of six founding families of the Seychelles in the 1700's and today, they produce the rum at an old plantation dating from that era.
Visitors are welcome at the plantation house and to tour the distillery. You can also stay for a meal and a cocktail or two with Takamaka rum!

A taste of paradise...Congrats Richard and Bernard !
very good to know................
Good boss
This is my little review of the Takamaka Bay Spiced! Just captured a box of 11 bottles from Drinko.se today (sells from Germany like they say here). Whereas 4 of them were "Takamaka Bay Spiced". I have to say, the taste is unique & diffrent. As Richard here say it seem high quality & very clean smooth character. This is a good rum, although not the same aroma calibré in my mouth as Matusalem 7 year aged as im used to drink. But this is a pretty bald & interesting move, to make a rum with Vanilla & Caramell flavour as in the case of "Takamaka Bay Spiced". I prefer mixing my rum with lemonade & tropical juice, so it will be interesting to see how it goes with diffrent citrus mixers.. It works fairly well with Coca Cola, & Sprite/7Up but there might be better suitors for it like perhaps Schweppes Ginger Ale..? I can clearly see this is an interesting alternative for bars or any person that wanna try something diffrent tasting. Wish all well - Growth & Prosperity to this company in the future! ;)
3DFX thanks for your comments and review of the spiced rum. They now have a pineapple flavoured version which I have yet to try, but I am sure that if it is made with the same quality and care as the others in the range, it will be a winner!
Your welcome! The quality of the content as a whole, seem´s high as you say. Im very impressed they followed your advice & utilize their Pinapple Resources over on the Seychelles! Would be lovely to try it out! :) For my tastes however, i need alittle of something else, So it lead me to try blending it with some traditional Cointreau from France tonight... Since both are on the fruity side, its a notable mention.. :)
Hello 3DFX - I don't think they produced the pineapple rum because I suggested it - that would be nice, but I think more that they used their years of experience etc to come up with a new line that would enhance their brand. :) Again, I look forward to returning to the Seychelles islands and trying it for myself.
Yes! & if you happen to check your video comments when you been there, please hit me up with the video link! Would be interesting! :)
Of course I will let you know when, not if we get to go back and try it 3DFX ;) Thanks again for watching and commenting.
