    Your mom and you should do a video together or maybe you can interview her about the industry, and how it has changed, and you guys can talk about employee vs. freelance.

    I wanted to thank you for taking the time to make content about court reporting regardless of you having to juggle youtube and your time as a freelance court reporter. Your time and expertise are deeply appreciated for people considering or starting out like myself. Thanks a ton ❤

    Hi there! I just found your videos and really appreciate you making these. I went to school for painting and have a bachelors of fine art, but I have found myself stuck in customer service roles and just scraping by since I graduated almost two years ago. I discovered court reporting when it was mentioned in a podcast I listen to, and found your videos shortly after. I'm also located in Texas, and really trying to figure out the best way to get into this! I have a lot of debt from going to school previously, so I am looking into online classes since they seem to be a bit more affordable. I plan on taking the NCRA free A to Z program to make sure that it is something that I want to spend time getting into. It feels like a lot of information at once but your videos have been the most helpful! Thank you

      @anahibee Před 4 měsíci

      same for me here! I’m planning on doing A to Z and based in Texas! Right now the confusing part for me is how the semesters work for ct reporting school and if i am able to start in the fall or not 🤔

      Ahh this is so good to hear! The A to Z program will be so helpful!!

      I"m so glad to hear there is a free program because I am looking into getting an independent hobbyist keyboard (Ecosteno) to start my journey. I was going to start with Plover and Lapwing theory and then move onto actual programs like the A to Z one you mentioned.
      Also, I'm an artist, too!! I went to school for illustration and have a BFA, too. Though I got to work for a studio job once as a freelance concept artist, the industry is super difficult to get into and retain. I'm tired of service industry jobs and want to move onto something I already have a passion in: speedy typing! I already type on a QWERTY keyboard at around 100 wpm and enjoy trying to transcribe DnD sessions into notes, so I thought the next step up to this strange hobby of mine was steno.
      I wish us both the best of luck! I recommend looking at Lapwing theory, too. I actually wouldn't mind a buddy to learn with, either, if you are interested.

    This video was the most interesting because I didn't know much about the freelance work or the professional structure of payments and scheduling. I very much enjoy the fact that it is similar to a personal business. You're in charge of your schedule and you can even hire scopists and such once you're at that point. Very interesting, thanks a bunch! Great vids

    14:47 per diem is latin for "per day", looks like a legal term that probably originated in labor/tax laws/regulations concerning compensation for travel/field work related expenses and got carried over to other occupations where task duration is unpredictable.

      I googled it and it’s possible, you just have to check each states requirements on transferring certifications, some states want you to recertify through them. I’m looking into traveling and doing this as well.
