I was trying so hard to make this work in 3-4 days and it just WAS NOT. For some reason I was having a hard time working out how to split it into 5 though! This was helpful. We’re doing 5 days now and what big difference. No more complaining, from either of us😉. We’re doing five days smooth and steady. There are so few reviews on this curriculum, so thank you for taking the time to do it.

Im wondering if I could just get the teachers guide n have multiple kids work in journals? Shipping to New Zealand is expensive at the moment.
Hmmmm, if you don't mind the extra (definitely extra) work, you could photocopy a page and then use liquid paper or a sticky note to cover the answers because your kiddos will need to see the actual page. Or, you could copy the work on a whiteboard and have them work from that in their journals. HTH!

Love this review, it's so helpful!!! Do you know what grade this is aimed at? My son is so reluctant with school in general, he was a premmie though and functions about a grade below and it took me years to accept it and stop pushing to "catch him up." So he"lol be doing third grade work next year but he's not ready for this yet. He need to do some dictation, and sentence set up practice this coming year (he always says he doesn't know what to write). Do do you think this would be okay for him when he's doing grade four but is "grade five" age? Thanks for the review!!!
Absolutely you can work a grade level below! I had my gifted 7th grader start the program at book 1 (3/4 grade) because the program is so good. Go at your pace no matter how slow that might be. Come join our Friday night lives (5:30 pst/8:30 est) where you can ask questions and I can give real time suggestions. ☺️
Question regarding W&R Fables: We’re on week one and the assignment is to rewrite the fable The Lion and the Mouse.
My question is: Does the child rewrite the story word for word, replacing only a few ideas? My child chose to write about a mouse and an ant and set them in an abandoned library instead of a jungle. But should everything else about the story stay there same?
Is it essentially a copywork exercise where we change a few key facts, or more like a narration where as long as the main ideas are there, he can write his sentences however he likes?
Curious of the new phonics program you mentioned. My son is sounds alot like your son..reluctant to write and knows when a word isn't spelled right. He reads well but can't spell.
It's billed as a spelling program but it teaches so much phonics. It's called All About Spelling. Review coming this summer!
If I didn't get the teacher edition, is the dictation available somewhere in the student text?
Sadly, no. That's how they get you to buy the teacher edition.
Hey Nikki, I have a 9th grader who does not care to write and who struggles with putting what he has read in his own words, do you think I should start with book 1 for him?
ABSOLUTELY!!. Skip the grammar parts, you'll finish the book and advance through the series faster.
Have you used this with 6th-8th graders?
Sure have. I had my 6th grader use it. I briefly talk about it in this video or my other video review on Book 1: Fable.
