And also, when you consider who their musical influences are, it is easy to see why their rap skills would be so far above the rest. They learned rap by listening to Eminem, Nas, Drake, and other great western hip hop artists along with great Korean hip hop artists. It is a lot different than learning to rap in rap classes during training. Not saying other Idol rappers are not good rappers, but the skill levels are not the same.

In case no one have told you, the Cyphers basically started when they kept getting hate from other rappers. Coming from an underground scene background (except Jhope), when they chose to become idols, a lot of them were saying they were straying away from hiphop. They said they arent "true rappers". In particular, a person named B-free humiliated them saying that being idols equates to being "feminine" and that they are not rappers. They had a mentality that you cannot do hiphop and be an idol. Thats why in Cypher part 2, they had a line saying "go back to hawaii" because bfree was from there. They are the only kpop group to release these cyphers.

They’re actually friends with EXO. Jimin is BFF with Kai (EXO) Suga is friends with Suho (EXO leader) and V is friends with Baekhyun (EXO). As a group they are both in good terms. But of course for EXO-Ls and ARMYs, it’s always a competition. 😂😂😂Sometimes a healthy one, sometimes a toxic one😂😂😂 most of the KPop artists are friends with other groups since pre pandemic they see each other on music shows and award shows..some became co stars on a Korean Drama..Jimin and Kai belong to one Circle of friends (I forgot the name) Jungkook belongs to a different circle of friends named 97 liners since all member of that group were born in 1997 (and belongs to other KPop group). It’s the fans that makes it complicated but interesting at the same time😊

There are only a couple of other groups that actually recruited experienced Rappers from the K-hiphop scene. Zico and a few other members from Block B, Mino from Winner, Minhyuk from BTOB, T.o.p. from Bigbang.

While Idol fandoms can be quite competitive, Idol groups rarely have significant issues with other Idol groups. The Cypher series was mainly a rap response to criticisms of BTS and Idol rappers generally from the underground rap scene. The underground rap perception was Idol rappers had sold out hip hop and basically sacrificed skills and control over expression for fame and money. Idol rappers in reality as BTS shows can be quite skilled and free to express if their label permits. However, BTS's efforts were enveloped in a stereotype which drew overt ridicule and belittlement. BTS, literally on their label, included these Cyphers on their albums allowing their rap line an appropriate rap (battle) response.
Watch BTS Hardships so you can understand why the cyphers exist. The amount of hate and prejudice they faced as they emerged is why the cyphers go from anger to being over it and being above it all at the last cypher.
The three of them really is good in their own ways. So it's hard to choose your favorite😅 but personally i like jhope the most because i like his playful voice when he raps

These small groups can't compete with BTS, and you can't compare BTS with anybody, BTS has been working for more than 10 years, they paved the way and made Korea worldwide, BTS is the most talented group in the world not just K-pop, but they struggled to be at this level, not like the groups that came after BTS, everything seems easy for them because BTS made it, even the groups before BTS couldn't do what BTS have done and when they saw how BTS was getting bigger they tried to bring them down, all the industry was a struggle for BTS, but they made it after nights without sleep and hard working for years, and trust me when you get deep into BTS’ ART, you will realize that no other artist can do what they are capable of, they are just too talented and creative and different, their music makes you feel alive, they deserve the world for real
this is my fave cypher sonically. just more my vibe. cypher pt 2 though in terms of wordplay and strictly cypher-wise is top tier to me. meanwhile, cypher pt 4 just makes me really bounce and a real anthem. 💜

Idols calling out names of other idols can create fanwars, some 'fans' cross the line of humanity and say some really disturbing shit to the idols constantly....I literally cried reading one such tweet directed at jimin ....and I wasn't even a fan then. So yeah idols understand this problem they know they all are in this together and support each other.
Also cyphers are not done by idol groups. Its not their genre. Its a hip hop thing. Although I haven't seen it for myself, I believe there must be some good idol rappers out there. But Rapping is not equal to hip-hop. (Please don't take it as an offense though I don't mean it that way)
Other idol groups are not allowed by their labels to make cyphers and BTS cyphers are against all the hate that they receive since the start. You could react to "bts from nobodies to legends" and "bts hardships" to understand all the things they've been through.

I consider Mic Drop to be the end of the Rap Cyphers. That is why at the end of Mic Drop they say they won’t address their haters anymore after this song. Basically, saying they are above all that now. And they haven’t addressed haters since.
I love the Cyphers so much and they are on constant rotation. My favorite ones are pt. 2 and 4. This one is so good as well and it’s really hard to choose because they’re all different but again I have my favorites.

Actually they not calling out western rappers but kpop hiphop rappers who diss them when they turned to kpop idol group, they trying to Rapp in english so Jhope reference was toward them . Bts actually loving western rappers especially Eminem, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, drake etc etc etc I mean there is a song hip hop lover by bts where they calling names of many legends of hip hop and pricing them cuz they started loving hip hop thrue them !
While Idol fandoms can be quite competitive, Idol groups rarely have significant issues with other Idol groups. The Cypher series was mainly a rap response to criticisms of BTS and Idol rappers generally from the underground rap scene. The underground rap perception was Idol rappers had sold out hip hop and basically sacrificed skills and control over expression for fame and money. Idol rappers in reality as BTS shows can be quite skilled and free to express if their label permits. However, BTS's efforts were enveloped in a stereotype which drew overt ridicule and belittlement. BTS, literally on their label, included these Cyphers on their albums allowing their rap line an appropriate rap (battle) response.
Watch BTS Hardships so you can understand why the cyphers exist. The amount of hate and prejudice they faced as they emerged is why the cyphers go from anger to being over it and being above it all at the last cypher.

Cypher series are savage... BTS rapline dissing their haters. I noticed also that since the cypher series and Mic Drop those haters has mellowed down. They are still there but has "lie low". Just don't anger Suga or else cypher 5 is coming....lol
These small groups can't compete with BTS, and you can't compare BTS with anybody, BTS has been working for more than 10 years, they paved the way and made Korea worldwide, BTS is the most talented group in the world not just K-pop, but they struggled to be at this level, not like the groups that came after BTS, everything seems easy for them because BTS made it, even the groups before BTS couldn't do what BTS have done and when they saw how BTS was getting bigger they tried to bring them down, all the industry was a struggle for BTS, but they made it after nights without sleep and hard working for years, and trust me when you get deep into BTS’ ART, you will realize that no other artist can do what they are capable of, they are just too talented and creative and different, their music makes you feel alive, they deserve the world for real
this is my fave cypher sonically. just more my vibe. cypher pt 2 though in terms of wordplay and strictly cypher-wise is top tier to me. meanwhile, cypher pt 4 just makes me really bounce and a real anthem. 💜

Idols calling out names of other idols can create fanwars, some 'fans' cross the line of humanity and say some really disturbing shit to the idols constantly....I literally cried reading one such tweet directed at jimin ....and I wasn't even a fan then. So yeah idols understand this problem they know they all are in this together and support each other.
Also cyphers are not done by idol groups. Its not their genre. Its a hip hop thing. Although I haven't seen it for myself, I believe there must be some good idol rappers out there. But Rapping is not equal to hip-hop. (Please don't take it as an offense though I don't mean it that way)

I consider Mic Drop to be the end of the Rap Cyphers. That is why at the end of Mic Drop they say they won’t address their haters anymore after this song. Basically, saying they are above all that now. And they haven’t addressed haters since.
I love the Cyphers so much and they are on constant rotation. My favorite ones are pt. 2 and 4. This one is so good as well and it’s really hard to choose because they’re all different but again I have my favorites.

Supreme Boi is an old friend and writes a lot of their beats almost became an idol but decided to stay as a songwriter/producer. Also JHope is def not calling out English and American rappers here, he's calling out Korean rappers who want to only rap in English. It's an important point.
