DIY Cement Pot Using a Basket and Papercrete

- Hi everyone! In this video I used an old laundry basket to make a cement pot out of papercrete. I think the result turned out great. This is a large cement planter that you can easily and cheaply make at home. You can use any size basket you would like. Papercrete makes the final product lightweight yet very durable. As you can see the basket made a cool geometric pattern on the pot.
Thanks for watching and feel free to ask any questions!

Thank you so much...👍
The prices of flower pots nowadays this is the answer, make our own.,,👍❤
I use saran wrap and then packing tape, it comes right off.
No you dont
Far less expensive too
Do you use Quick Crete or Porters Cement? What ratio Cement to water do you use? Thanks 😊. I am fixing to try for the first time.
Seeing two pots, my heart became a garden.
Nice.
i watch a lot of videos of people making flower pots. Most of the pots are beautiful, then the creators ruin them with gaudy colors that complete with the colors of the plants or flowers they put into them. I prefer either the natural color of the cement or subtle colors like your brown and tan.
I refurbished all of our old faded and sometimes cracked plastic pots 2 years ago for about 10% of what it would have cost to buy new ones. I repaired the broken ones and painted them all in shades of brown &/or tan or one or two shades of green. Many admirers ask me where I bought them.
Now I am contemplating making some cement pots and I am certainly not going to paint them bright orange and purple.
That is beautiful! You are an artist!
Wow, absolutely love this idea.
I LOVE the natural look without the paint.
Me too!
What a beautiful art you've developed! I must give this a try! WOW! 💜💜💜💜
Just found your channel because I was inspired to make some concrete projects and you mentioned Ron’s nursery in a prior video and I had to take a double take! I live on 6 street :))
Super excited to check out your videos and make some planters! Just have to get my hands on a mixing drill 💕
That is awesome! I live a few hours away from there. You can also use a blender to mix the paper pulp if you don't have a mixing drill.
Thanks for sharing this project with me. Excellent!!!
Beautiful, the pot is great as well
Thank for a great job
Du hast Talent, gefällt mir sehr gut, Dankeschön für die dolle Idee ❤
@12:37 Wow! This project looks easy enough for me to try it. I have been wanting to get new planters for the front of our home but the prices are ridiculously high for cement planters. You have inspired me and I can't wait to give this a try. Thanks for sharing.
How did they turn out?
I did mine with Petemoss in place of the paper pulp. It keeps the planter from being heavy and I used a cardboard box and packing peanuts and a trash bag to make the planter look like a huge boulder, it is a much better look, and more realistic. I look like a superwoman when I move it around lol. Just be sure you do not make the cement mixture too runny. I did the first try with another box inside to make the chamber for the potting soil. it seems to work better than the hand-packing of the cement mixture. Poring is easier than placing the cement in by hand. Oh, and the center box was covered by another trash bag to avoid a soggy box. or just fill the bag with something to make a place for the soil. it was a lot of fun and my failures made great fake rocks and gravel so no waisted cement and Pete moss. I just put them around my trees to reduce evaporation to save water. good luck

How exactly did you make it look like a Boulder?

Don't forget to put in a drain hole

Beautiful both you and pot
A big thank you: it's beautiful, a feasible idea. I need a planter and I have everything here. That's wonderful.
Un grand Merci: c'est magnifique, une idée réalisable. J'ai besoin de jardinière et j'ai tout ce qu''il faut ici. C'est magnifique.
Learn something new, everyday. Thanks❤
Wow, that's beautiful
Wow this was awesome seeing you using saran wrap to make your flower pot .
Thank you so much 😊
Very nice and easy method. One suggestion is to put an 16 or 18 inch tile on top to level the to rim, keep the edge smooth. and keep it there for the drying process to keep the planter in shape.
Good job, thanks for sharing, I will try to do it for my garden
Very creative..wish you success and be healthy
I am excited to try this! ❤
Excellent work.
Beautiful nice work
Love it! Thank you! Off shopping to get supplies :)
Wow! Looks like a flower vase made of chocolate. I'm sure you are a chocolate freak. Nice project...loved it❤
Hi Char, thx for sharing this great idea! It was help if there was a list of items used. I wasn’t sure of some of the products you used (eg sanding block, type of paint).
Super excited
BRAVO! belles idées merci de les partager .
Love it! Thanks!
Beautiful❤
So impressive!
Awesome job.

Krista
Awsome :) It took me about 3 minutes to focus on what you where making :)
Gotta try ! Thanks Char :)
Many years ago I did a lot of hypertufa.Same concept.@0 + years ago i covered an ole free standing sink with the hypertufa mix and it is still standing outside. I did bowls, troughs, a ball to use in a fountain and leaves to make bird baths.
.Over working the tufa will make it less sturdy.
Beutifull !!!, good job mam,,mabuhay!!! From ,the philipines,,
Очень красиво! Вы молодец! 👍
Wonderful work's artist
Hi👋I really enjoyed watching your video♥️♥️.
Madam's pot with two flowers is very beautiful
I love video's like this very nice 👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Great job ‼️
Loved the video
Amazing. Thanks 👍
this ended better than i thought it would have. WELL DONE!
my two cents : after finishing paint, id add to the vertical and horizonal grooves left by the "mold"
Vertical groove: fit wooden dowels from top to bottom
(one dowel per groove)
Horizontal groves: fit twisted twine or soft metal wire aound the pot (one per grove)
this would give it a nice aesthetic and if done with strong materials, would reinforce the pot itself.
keep up the good work!!!
You're talking about a hellofa lot of work Bro.
@@shaggydog5409 the best, most valuable things in life tend to take time and effort. If something is quick and simple then there is little value in it unless your particular skill makes it look quick and simple but then you put the time and effort to get to that level. Make sense?
@@rathma242 you're kidding!? We're talking about a FLOWER POT Bro. not a house. Use your damn head.
Great idea (recommendation)
Very nice looking. Thanks for sharing this. First I have to figure out what papercrete is. Never heard of it. Love this, though!😊

Parabéns! Lindo lindo!!!
That girl is so talented
Absolutely beautiful pot! Do you find that you can grow most anything in there or do thr pots dry out too quickly? Do your plants seem to do well in your pots? I LOVE THIS IDEA THANK YOU! 💕
Lindo ,ótima idéia ,qBeautiful, great idea, how whimsical and, you just have to let it cure, leave your vase wet for 1 week, otherwise in 1 year the cement will crumble, you have to go through the cure
wonderful
love it
Amei.Lindo o seu vaso
could you perhaps do one with colour in the mix, thank you wonderful idea

@charsnest
Was water used in the mixing process, and did that one mixture sufficient for that size basket, by the way what is the basket size??
Awesome
Very cool! Can you tell me how to get paper pulp? Also, what kind of sand did you use? How much water? It turned out very pretty!
jgg7377 tear paper into pieces put into a bucket cover with water 💦 for a few days mash drain paper pulp. (I think 🤔)
🥰 ! Excelente trabajo !!! 👌
Crazy question, can you seal it inside to make a fountain?
@char'snest
Have you ever used color in the paper mech, if so how is it mixed and what color product should be used.
Loving the idea, but won't it just crumble to bits after the first hard frost?
artist hands👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Try GLAD Press 'n Seal. The back of the plastic wrap is coated with a Post it Note "something". It will lightly stick to most everything. And, you can see through it!
I see some using paper pulp and some not. What is the difference? Can the ones with the pulp be placed outside? Thanks and nice job 😊
Neat idea. Because I expected you to keep the plastic grid inside the concrete for long term support. As is, perhaps it will not last so long??
How do you make the paper stuff you used with the concrete & sand?
Very well done. LOVE it!
Shred paper with a paper shredder or rip newspapers junk mail etc. soak in a large bucket with water stir a couple days . Either use and old blender to purée or buy attachment from hardware store to mix cement with attach to a drill and whirl the paper then add your sand cement mix together again
It will be nice if y can tell what u are using. And qty also
Que tipo de pintura usa,gracias
Klasse gemacht. Ist es auch wetterfest?
How much water did you use in the mix, or is the water from the pulp all that is needed?
thank you
Gostei muito parabéns
Nice
