Apparently houses in Dallas are inexpensive and affordable. What is the value of these properties??
@@fhd588 yeah, but wages are also lower here than in other parts of the country, and prices have been climbing steeply as of late (and don't seem to be falling at all because of COVID, which is weird). It will depend on what area of town that house was built in, but my guess is between $400k and 700k.

OMG. The amount of natural light in this home is blinding. I love your home. So bright and clean. I like how you guys have a place for your rice cooker. Rice cookers can be an eye sore sometimes. As much as I love to look at two story homes, I only love to live in a one story. Congrats on your home. Hopefully in the next lifetime I can afford a beautiful home like this for my family.

Beautiful home!!! I love how you went all out on places that matter to you like the bathroom and kitchen and kept it sensible on places that you can update later on down the road. This is an amazing blend of modern and rustic! Home goals for me and my hubby when we look for homes next year!!

I just went and read your blog post about the upgrades you guys chose and why. It's my dream to do a new build so that was very helpful! it's so hard to find modern builders where I live, I think I gotta move to Texas! lol
Hi Laurie! I'm so glad it was helpful! I think it's important to remember some things can drastically change the look of a home you can hire a contractor to do afterward, such as a new front door, painting the brick, etc. Our house is definitely more transitional. Classic with modern touches.

I would have used different colors throughout the house, especially the cabinets in the kitchen; something like a light gray or light blue, and a vibrant backsplash. Still such a great house! Good choice!

I’m so curious about how much this house cost to build with all + the additional custom interior pieces because I basically want this exact same house and wanna know if I will be able to eventually afford it. If you don’t mind!! Would ❤️ to hear a general number!
I live in Houston area so the housing market should be the same as Dallas. I heard Dallas is actually more expensive now. This house should be at least about $600K. I won't be surprise if it is higher. The floor plan is amazing!!!! I assume the builder is a local builder. I saw the design center materials and a lot of standard ones are very modern and pretty. I built my first home with a local builder in Houston. They also build in Dallas and Austin. I haven't seen anyone in the same price range offer as good of floor plan and standard materials. So I guess this house is from the similar builder. It is so beautiful and her taste is awesome! I'm building our second home now and really got so many inspiration from Hoang!

@@itsrhileyj The base price was probably ~ $450K, but with all of the upgrades, it was more than likely closer to 530K-560K.

Absolutely! I love white walls and you could go from there. You can always paint, etc. after and it's much more cost-effective to do afterward than paying the builder for upgrades. :)

The appliance cubby and the floating shelves in the kitchen were excellent choices. Asian food is most delicious with very pungent aromas so the range vent should do the trick. The natural light is amazing. I'd turn into a crazy plant lady, lol plants everywhere 😁
I'm glad you're here! We've got much more coming! Yes - the vent has made such a huge difference. No more rushing to closet doors or me holding a baking sheet fanning our smoke alarm lol. Speaking of plants... we've got a thriving fiddle leaf fig named Frank. I think he thinks we built this house for him he's sprouted so many new leaves!
