Essential oils don't give you a good hot throw (scent). Use fragrances made for candle and not only will you have a stronger smelling candle, you won't burn your place down.

Instead of using essential oils that can be flammable, you should use fragrance oils that are made for candles. Otherwise, everything is on point!

Pleaseeee do research before trying this at home. You need to use fragrance oil made for candles and you should have a thermometer to know at what temperature to remove the wax from the heat and It needs to cool to a certain temperature before adding fragrance. You should also be calculating with a specific formula to know how much fragrance to add to your wax depending on how much it wax you have.

You really need wick stickers. Those wicks once low enough are going to start floating around on you and you could crack the glass once it floats to the side and you have a direct flame on the glass.
Next essential oils don’t get live a good hot throw and are highly unstable when introduced to a flame. Not to mention the amount you’d have to add to be able to smell would be extremely expensive.

Theres a sweet spot that is perfect to put your oil in. Not too hot and not too cold. The oil needs to bind with the wax. If the was is too cold it will not bind with the wax at all. You need to put the oil in below about 10 degrees below the flashpoint of the oil.

    • @AtomicElf1

Essential oils aren't necessarily dangerous when used in the correct quantities, but they are not going to yield as strong of a scent as fragrance oils. The type of wax, the type of wick, the size (thickness) of the wick can also will determine how strong the candle scent is and how well it burns.

Essential oils are safe to use in candles, when used in the correct amount. The largest problem is that essential oils do not smell as strong as fragrance oils and some waxes don't work well with certain oils or fragrances, so some people end up putting dangerous amounts of oils into the candle in an effort to get it to smell stronger, creating a fire hazard. It's best to either buy a pre-made candle making kit from a reputable seller or to make sure to do the proper research to make a safe and effective candle.

The step for dipping the wick into wax to make it stick onto the jar seems a bit useless since it immediately melts and displaces when the hot candle wax is added to the jar.
The article comparing the price of 3 wick candle vs diy isn't very good given the difference of burn time. The diy ones are much smaller and the store bought ones are affordable when bought on sale.
