    I really appreciate your post.
When you said "Be respectful and do not put down their vehicle!!!" This is so true. I had a friend once needed a ride. So, I gave him a ride. He started cracking jokes about my car. I stopped and looked him in the eye.
I said "You can say anything you like about me but don't talk about my car. Besides, where is your car?" In the shop.

Great content! I love that you don't put down what's wrong with it. People know what's wrong with their stuff. If it's not what you're looking for, walk away. If they want to know why you're not willing to pay their price, they'll ask.

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Some good input for sure! My dad was a Used Car dealer & I was able to learn a few things from him…the good, the bad & the indifferent. Rule 1: Be Respectful at all times, even if you’re the seller. I had a guy interested in my truck that was drunk. I could smell it & his behavior reflected it as well! I think it reflects well if you drive your own old truck, except if it looks like you just drove it from the junkyard. You want to enjoy the truck all that you can & there is a balance between the rough looks & something you are proud of. I love old trucks & cars & really like to see them on the road. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. Blessings my friend.🤩🥰✌️😊

Boy, I wish I lived closer to you. You're a respectful fellow. I have an 2001 F150 that I really need good guidance on. It has about 269K on him. Right now, he's looking a bit rough. Has rust on the rear tire wells, poor driver's side window fell inside the door, tailgate stuck, and now that it's been sitting for a few months, I have to get it a battery. I really don't want to but a new truck, but need to get an "honest" mechanic to give me the lowdown on how much to get it back on the road, vs. investing on another truck. I do know that I have way too much sentiment on this truck. It was the first thing I bought when I came back from Iraq, and took very good care of me through the years. Sorry for the long letter. Anyhow, very good & top notch on your video. Respectfully, & Sincerely, MSG Grace Griffin (Ret.)

Hello Grace. I am sorry for not getting to your comment sooner. It does sound like you have a project on your hands. I would say focus on the mechanical part first and foremost. Get it running and driving to where you are confident enough that it is reliable. Once you have it running good then you can start looking into some of the cosmetic things. I always stay motivated on a project when I can drive it and move it around as need be. I appreciate your kind words, and thank you for your service!

Just boght a 2000 f150 v6 5 speed for $1700. Seems to run great... no bad habits, shifts well, 4 wheel disc brakes, nice tires, but it has some rust issues. Bottoms of doors are gone and the rocker panels are rusted pretty badlly. But what the heck, its just a beat about truck to get to the dump and pick up a few things.

    • @tomswinburn1778
      @tomswinburn1778 Před 3 lety +4

Stop the rust from spreading if you can. (marine jelly or whatever) and don't consider "fixing" the rust. Can it be done? Yeah, but the expense would be stupid. Bondo ain't gonna do it, only welding in patch panels, eliminating all rust. A truck like that can last you a long time with TLC and avoiding dumb mistakes. I like to see em run as long as they are able. They're TRUCKS fer crying out loud. Designed to be worked, haul stuff, do the grunt work. What they AIN'T is $100,000 toys for idiots. Though there's no shortage of idiots. Try buying a 2021 without all the bells and whistles. Tough to do.

The problem with selling a vehicle in Colorado is that you (the seller) have to provide a fresh emission certificate for the vehicle. It is a good protection for the buyer, but a pain for the seller. The prospective buyer can say "No problem." but later come back and rewind the sale.

Rule of Thumb I use when buying a car/truck. If it runs & drives it's worth - $1,500. If they are asking less then that, don't nit-pick it, don't ask about the mileage, you are already getting a deal on it. Also, if you show up to buy a car/truck in a shiny newer vehicle. Don't use the "poverty claim". Just makes you look like a fool if you do. The Mileage questions, ug.... these older trucks don't have odometers that go to 100,000+ miles. There's no way of knowing for sure on any of that. So don't use that as your primary deal maker or breaker. Even my 94 Explorer only goes to 99,999 miles, and to me that's a newer truck.

Hi i found a 1987 Ford F-150 Long Bed for
    $1,900
    it has 100,000 miles
    Manual transmission
Exterior color: Grey · Interior color: Red
    Fuel type: Gasoline
    This vehicle is paid off
    Seller's description
302 Motor, everything under the hood has about 1000 miles on it, it has sat for about 2 years, son decided he didn’t want to drive it. It needs the carb adjusted, a starter solenoid, battery, the brakes are rusty, it just needs to be driven. 35” tires.
Lowball offers will not be replied to
Just dropped the price to $1900 from $2200. I am firm on the price and will not go lower.
Bring a trailer to take it home on, but bring a top post battery and a solenoid if you want to hear it run.
It cant tell if they guy is legit, or its just a crapy truck?
