Why would anybody consider it to be the rarest Bonny with a heap of them eventually being produced. As far as the smallest number of a model built that must surely be the 82 Royal not to be confused as so many are with the 250 Limited Edition Royal Weddings built, with half as US-spec and other half as the UK and other export markets, crazy as it seems they were 2 very different bikes and spec. TMA ie Triumph Motorcycles America was less than impressed with their single disc wire wheel models along with the totally different styling and rear shocks etc so said WTF why do we your best market get this crap. Pretty quickly Triumph thought we really need to keep them happy so produced a run of 50 Royal Limited edition bikes for TMA. As the wedding was done and dusted they simply called them Royals. They are basically the same as the UK version without a chrome fuel tank and silver frame, different extended side panels to cover the Bing CV carbs instead of Mk2 Amals to comply with the US emission laws, and different panel badges.
Also no certificate (unless you buy one online as can be done, well dodgy of course) or the commemorative plate with a number saying to commemorate Charlie and Di tying the knot, well for a while that is. I see one of these Royals being advertised last month in Sydney claiming it is a Royal Wedding by the dealer. Still, around $AUD 14000 with I recall well over high 30k mileage. The silly thing is when you break the numbers down they are 1 of only 50 not 1 of 250 Royal weddings or 1 of 125 if split into the 2 versions. I not aware of any other Bonny close to that few and definitely not the 74 T120v. Somewhere around 1000 at least I have read so not a great look for Classic Bike magazine. All Royal info from the chap that done a lot of research into the variants and also posted this video of factory circa 82. The link is below and as he states remember it from a VHS tape he has taken the trouble to digitize for your benefit so no moaning about it not being in HD

The limited edition models are only rare by design, not circumstance.
