I have got Clark Kerr RH Double Suite. Does that mean I'm in a suite with a single, a double and a quad room and I'm in the double room? Or does that mean I'm in suite with two single rooms?

hello! I'm in 11th grade right now and I think I might want to major in architecture in college. Could you please tell me a little bit about how to create an architecture portfolio to submit? I've never really taken any visual arts classes and I have no idea what a portfolio should look like.

+Ayla あいら UC Berkeley doesn't require you to submit an architecture portfolio in order to major in architecture; however, you will create one throughout your college career in order to apply at firms later in your career!
Can you live in a Clark Kerr your first year? I don't really like the idea of community bathrooms!
You can apply to live at Clark Kerr your freshman year! I had two roommates who were freshmen. However, on-campus housing is randomly assigned to students, so even if you make it your top choice, you may not get it!
How's the social aspect in terms of suites vs. dorms? Is it any harder to keep in contact with people in the same housing complex? I'm considering a clark kerr quad suite for freshman year (so excited!) but don't want to miss out on the entire dorm/floor/hall experience.
+Anna Hwang Dorms are definitely more social than suites because you share a lounge and a bathroom with your whole floor. I highly recommend living in a dorm your freshman year! It's the easiest way to make friends.
hi! im an incoming freshman this year :~) i think my first choice is a dorm in clark kerr but i am so conflicted about whether to request a double, triple, or i didnt evne know there were quads?? What's your opinion about this quad suite and could you compare it to a normal non-suite where there is just a bathroom per floor or something likethat? Would the non-suites be more social? Are there ever issues sharing the bathrooms in this quad suite?
+Kristen Elizabeth I love living in the quad suite because we have more space and our own bathrooms. However, dorms (non-suites with a lounge and a bathroom that are shared with the entire floor) are much more social. It's much easier to make friends living in a dorm than a suite! my suite mates and I have not really had any issues with sharing a bathroom, only during the beginning of the year did some of my suite mates forget to remove their hair out of the shower drain. But other than that, we all got along perfectly fine!
Is there AC or heater inside the room? If yes, can you control the temperature?
There was some sort of HVAC system in the room, but none of us could ever figure out how to use it! We would just open or close the windows depending on the current weather.
Are the RAs strict? Will my friends be able to sleep on the couch or on an inflatable mattress when they come visit or have to sleep in a hotel??
It depends on who your RA is and whether or not he/she will strictly enforce the rules! Your friends will be able to sleep over as long as your roommates approve. Where they will sleep (on a couch, the floor, a mattress, etc.) depends on which unit you will be living in.
Can you change the height of the lofted bed, can you un loft it to a normal height? Please respond because I’m moving to Clark Kerr next month!
Unfortunately, you cannot! But this was filmed a few years ago, so I am not sure if the furniture has been updated since then.
Your freshmen year about when did you find out how was going to be your roommates? I'm Berkeley bound.
I found out around this time! My brother is going to be a freshman at Cal this upcoming year, too, and just found out his living situation a couple of days ago.
So a couple days after I accept my housing offer or weeks after. I'm sorry, I'm sort of excited and anxious. 😄
It should be a couple of days or a week! It's okay, I'm sure you'll end up with awesome roommates! :D
How do you become a RA? I would love to live in a single but i heard it's really competitive to get it
There is an application, and then an interview! I'm not too sure about the details of applying to be an RA, but it is a difficult position to attain. Some of my friends are RA's, though, and they love it!
Would you recommend staying on campus sophomore year or finding an apartment right away?
Also did you get priority for clark kerr or was it still priority to first-years?

It all depends on how ready you feel to take on the responsibilities of renting an apartment! I personally didn't feel ready quite yet my sophomore year, so I applied for residential housing instead.

Hi, I also got admitted to UC Berkeley as a transfer student this fall 2017. I would like to live in any apartment/dorms on/near the campus, but I am a person that really need privacy. Is there any types of housing that is for single occupancy bedroom?? Thanks!
You are only granted a single occupancy room in the Units if you are an RA, other than that, you are either put in a double or a triple! There are mini suites in Units 1 and 2 that are a lot nicer and more spacious than the regular dorms, but you still share a room with one or two other people. You may choose to live in a single in an apartment, but those are extremely expensive and often hard to find near campus. You may also want to check International House or a co-op, they may have single occupancy rooms available!

Do freshmen ever get single dorms?
anthony Very rarely! Unless you need to be in a single dorm for a medical reason, your chances of getting one are slim to none.
How much did it cost to go to this school? Do you have to buy a meal plan?
It costs around $33,000 a year including tuition, residential housing, and a meal plan. I receive financial aid and take out loans, which cover most of my costs!
