Reminds me of when I was younger and would dress up the cats in build-a-bear my little pony outfits. They didn’t seem to mind (probably because they were old and didn’t care) and would just walk around the house in full princess outfits

tbh even though I am not a young child anymore, I want that Pastel cat to be my imaginary friend
I had something like that as a imaginary friend, but more natural colored and it was like, a normal 4-legged cat, and it had a tie die bow. I think hallucinations were a side effect of my adhd medicine when i was a kid, but i think i was just a weird social awkward kid.

You know what could be cool? Looking at those rainbow eyes i was thinking that if for a stockbox episode, instead of giving us a theme, she showed us an array of materials she has (fabrics, body parts, discarded clothes) and we voted for a part for her to make a doll out of?

Fun fact!
She mentions that the outfit is reminiscent of a clown costume, but the face is as well! The pastel stripes are really similar to a form Japanese theatre called Kabuki. So all in all, this is a really clownish doll. I love it!

@@Lori_P89 Kabuki focuses on exaggeration and large spectacle. Exaggeration is a core feature of clown work, from the Chinese military clown to Commedia d'el Arte. You'll find that the common link between all of these acts is the exaggeration of the human condition. It's super cool!

I did my theater history undergrad in clown, including a heavy focus on commedia. This is a major area of interest, and something that can be taken much more seriously than "all theater is actually the same", a patently untrue statement to anyone who has ever compared the satirical value of Euripedes and Aeschylus. Japanese Noh is more like clown than Kabuki, if anything, but the idea of using that exaggeration *for comedy* was not a part of Japanese theater. Even after importing western clown imagery, the focus was on dramatic French Pierrot form- which is why the Japanese word for clown is 'piero', instead of a variation on harlequin. Chinese opera was a little more similar, but the inherent idea of clumsiness, comedy, and serious improvisational study can't just be reduced to a single, simple worldwide throughline. It's disrespectful to each of the art forms you're reducing like that. Exaggeration was only a single, even minor aspect for many of these performance styles, and the storytelling itself was often the main focus.
It would be even MORE accurate to say that Drag has a lot in common with forms of clown, but you're not going to say this doll looks like Drag makeup, are you? No, because that's ridiculous. Not all performance art is the same thing, or even equivalent historically.

Oh, I think the reason the pom-poms didn't look as good on the real doll is because the concept art showed the ears sticking up higher than the fluff on the head, but on the actual doll the fluff comes up high enough to be level with the ears and changes the balance of proportions on the head

I've never considered myself interested in doll making/customizing, but this just so happened to appear in my recommended feed and idk I just decided to go ahead and watch. It's really fascinating to watch. My own creative hobbies (other than writing, my main one) includes cross-stitching, so I could really appreciate seeing the doll take more and more form with each step.
All the random eyes reminds me of seeing soap makers with a ton of random embeds XD
My biggest flex is that I’ve been here long enough to know the dolls she was talking about in the first few minutes of explaining...

I love the doll so much!
The only thing I’d change is give it more cat like eyes to where you can’t see the whites, and the pupils are thin or really big.
Other than that, it’s amazing! I love cats too, and this doll doesn’t disappoint!

I always love seeing when your need for rainbow pastels reaches its peak and must be satisfied
I'm not sure if it's been said already but if you're using paper in resin you can use packing tape on both sides to create like a film to keep the paper more protected, the resin can yellow the white paper and that might be why your purples became red :D I love that you're experimenting with resin though and the doll came out amazing as always
For whiskers you should get those cheap paint brushes and use their plastic bristles as the whisker for future cat pieces to make them more cat like. I feel like this guy could’ve done with some eyebrow whiskers

Freya and Freyr look like the distinguished older siblings in their 20s and this cat looks like the quirky younger sibling that always gets the deep sigh from the parents. Like they both have well paying jobs and then there is this teen cat that wears pastel and probably cosplays.

hey this is just a tip i saw once about yarn wefts: instead of just cutting over and over again with some bigger and some smaller, you can cut a piece of cardboard to size, wrap the yarn around it, and then cut on the top and bottom and boom! mostly perfect sized wefts and takes way less time so you only have to worry about how horribly you might do the hair! (jk ur art is great lol)
