    WHO do we trust. Thank you Dr Ross. I truly appreciate “US” talking about this. I started with a small spot at the crown in 2003. Around 2018 the area got bigger, dermatologists diagnoses were CCCA. Suggested Rogaine. I didn’t use. After another big chop, area did not grow as expected. In 2022 got a referral, and received 2 rounds of PRP within the course of 3 months. Hair loss is now rapidly progressing outward, and toward my hairline making it harder to conceal. I’m scheduled to see yet another non-African American derm in Aug 2023. I’m located in Alabama ~ I don’t freakin want to go bald or broke, trying not to go bald. Nightmare!

    So far the best video on how to correct this condition. My hair breaks in two areas on my crown every time start a relaxer. It did well for two months then bam . It grows yet the relaxer may b the problem or person doing relaxer

    • @NinaRossAtl
      @NinaRossAtl  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi there, relaxers are very damaging to the hair and scalp especially when you have CCCA. The chemicals in relaxers are way too strong and because CCCA makes the scalp really sensitive you are more prone to chemical burns, which creates more scaring on the scalp. I would say its best to stop the usage of the relaxer especially because you have CCCA, it will only advance the growth of the CCCA and make it worse.

    • @sable7114
      @sable7114 Před 5 měsíci

      @@NinaRossAtl I was very reluctant to stop a relaxer for several years because my hair stylist were always telling me that my hair would break off at the line of demarcation and since I was experiencing a bald area that I was able to cover with my hair, that horrified mean. I then did stop my relaxer in 2016 because my cousin developed lung cancer and was told that she should stop dying her hair and when I asked her why, she had no idea so I researched that and learned that the chemicals aren't good on many levels so I stopped and I lost no hair. I was able to just transition. I had sought help from dermatologist, several in all Races, in my area getting no help other than to be told to use biotin. Never asked to return for follow-up appointment. I never experienced symptoms of itching or burning or anything like that so never suspected that anything was wrong other than I have some hair breakage or something for whatever reason. Whenever a hair stylist would look at my scalp, I was told it was stress and when you get rid of the stress your hair will grow back. Ice scheduled an appointment with two different trichologists and one didn't even bother to show up for my appointment and the other was in a sense playing me and wasn't as compassionate as she was pretending to be so I never really got to see her either. A doctor a couple years ago prescribed a topical steroid and I used it for about 10 months to no avail and again I had not been invited to return for follow-up and what next? The laser caps and red light caps came to my attention so I scheduled an appointment with her again the latter part of last year. She must have been told by the nurse that I complain that no one has ever done blood work on me or looked at my scalp under a microscope or ever taken pictures for comparison so what she did was took a picture this time but only after telling me there was nothing she could do because I waited too long. My response was I did not wait too long I have been seeing different dermatologists trying to get help for years. She never addressed my question about the cap so I went ahead and purchased one anyway during the holiday sales so I have not used very long at all since you don't use them everyday. I will begin looking for a dermatologist or a recommendation possibly in another city or in a neighboring state. I'm willing to travel for a good evaluation. When that dermatologist left the office the nurse did inform me that there were other options like a transplant. So I'm treating myself right now by using the cap and of course I have used oils on my scalp, essential oils to spaced on things I heard on CZcams and haven't noticed Improvement but was never really consistent. I also haven't noticed any progression and the rest of my hair is very long which caused some beauticians to say, look at all this here she has it must be a lack of vitamin B complex which didn't make sense because it seemed as though it would affect all of my hair and not just the area that's being affected. To whomever, thanks for reading this long comment but I just had to get it off my chest and I'm hopeful. Hair loss in women can be devastating. I believe in the power of Prayer

    This is encouraging. I was recently diagnosed with this condition and am trying to find info online about treatment options. I haven’t been to a dermatologist to get diagnosed, but I have a feeling that it is CCCA… When I had some breakage, it didn’t effect a huge area I can say. I’m now natural and the breakage has stopped, HOWEVER It seems as if the inflammation has spread a bit. I don’t get any breakage, but I do get the tenderness 😩. Something specially is triggering it and I need to figure that out. It comes at certain times I do my hair, so I’ll start to track, what I do and what I use.

    Thank you for sharing. I went to the dermatologist today and this was my diagnosis. I was given steroid shots, told to use rogain, was given a topical treatment and vitamins from their clinic which seem to be hair and nail vitamins that are way over priced. I was advised to stop using the nutrafol vitamins that I started taking which seem to have more vitamins included tan what was given. Prior to the visit , I started taking vitamin d, zinc, and iron pills faithfully for almost two months and saw a difference. When Im listening to your approach , it makes me wonder why this was not offered and just steroid shots. Im very nervous about steroids in general. I was thinking of getting a second opinion. Any advice ? I just want to do whats safe .
