Great video. I have run the full crossbow a lot lately and it’s such a satisfying weapon to use. Risk/Reward is very high obviously. Using it really gives the player no choice but to get better with movement!!!
love watching all your weapon guides!! currently trying to learn how to use the bow thanks to your videos but i might have to give the crossbow a try now too :D
Just a very casual player, but played just a few hrs ago and was itching to suddenly learn the Crossbow since there's a few challenges that popped up... Glad i came across this video! ez sub!
I have a love/hate for the crossbow. If you're solo, your shots always need to count, but more so with this thing. If you miss, you're typically within shotgun range, therefore, making a missed shot so very easy to punish. I feel like being on console makes it a bit tougher on securing kills with it. Thats why you always see explo crossbow on console.
As a crossbow enthusiast I feel it easier to put the enemy in the middle of the two bar and ignore the top bar. Only use the top bar for aiming at thing like lanterns and imos headshots. At least That’s what drastically up my aim with the cross bow
Also the shotbolt ammo can hit multiple targets if they are in the same line (Like spitzer or nitro), such as players, you can kill (At least from my experience) 2 players from one shot.
Another thing to mention is that the crossbow can OHK Immolators with a headshot, which is pretty neat imo What is your fav secondary to pair? Uppercut vs Pax vs Spitfire, etc. Or would you rather have a 2-slot? Btw, they changed Decoy Supply (maybe with the ammo update). Before you could use reg ammo boxes for decoys, even if your loadout only had special ammo. Now you can't (and can only pull from boxes your weapons allow), which saddens me a bit lol
I actually was not aware that it oneshots immolators. Thanks for letting me know! 💪 I would probably go uppercut for the high damage and pen or hand crossbow for utility, personally!
@@REXNOR_TV Yea! Not sure if it's an unlimited range headshot or just close range, but it works if you can't be bothered lol (they still explode obvi). Shotbolt also does pretty nice dmg to Rotjaw and OHKs Immos iirc I do like other sidearms, but that 126 is hard to beat for this loadout
Step List for me. #1 Get inspired by amazing gameplay. Step 2# Equip loadout and join lobby with my mate Step 3# mates roll their eyes at my meme loadout. Step #4 have 0 impact with the crossbow because i'm terrible at hunt :( solid vid cheers bro haha
I love both the crossbow and the bow but prefer the Crossbow and think is better since it allows you to preserve your mobility while the bow will cripple it, crossbow can aim and fire which is quick, with the bow you have to draw, aim and fire, dps wise the bow will be better but will only matter if you get pushed during your reload window or miss your shot becasue of the reload/redraw diference in them, but most of the time this is a non factor IF you land your shots because most probably you will kill anything if you hit it and have time to reload which you can do while sprinting as opossed with the bow, OHK potential in the crossbow is better than the bow because of the shotbolt, simply put once your crossbow is reloaded it is better than the bow but between shots is worse, yes the bow can redraw faster but wont allow you to sprint, it also has to do with trigger discipline, the way i see it is that crossbow behaves like a single shot rifle while the bow behaves like a bolt action, I always enjoyed my beloved springfield with dum dum and sparks so im biased with single shot weapons idk why but find single shot weapons so satisfying, also REX i know that you dont like the derringer but ive found it very usefull with single shot weapons
You make some valid points, but I’m not sure it’s correct to say the crossbow is «better when reloaded» as that entirely depends on the situation and range. A bow can just as easily kill a player on close to medium range in the same time, depending on your aim but with the benefit of firing again much sooner. I consider them equally good but they both have pros and cons. I made a comparison video a while back. Regarding derringer, I actually like it but I don’t have room for it in my solo loadouts which is why I rarely run it 👍
Someone was doing tests and said that jump shots are only accurate on the upward movement and really inaccurate on the fall. Idk if that applies to crossbow
Crossbow is a very hard weapon to master. Every special bolt has a very different weight. Plus you have to move a lot, so you need a very good pc so you can have 60+ fps in combat. As a master of the trollbuild (explosive crossbow, frag bow), I can say these weapons with these special ammo, are the hardest to master. Bomb lance with frag bombs comes third. Explosive bolts are very heavy. You need tons of practice to get it right, so you can fire through holes inside buildings, aim through big distances, or aim at the sky so you avoid walls and buildings in your way. A huge advantage, is that you can use it as a distraction in the start of the match, like an explosion on different compound, to confuse other hunters. Frag arrow are more straight, easier to aim, but total different gameplay. Aiming is a lot harder on difficult situations where you can't pull the bow at full force, so you need to learn to adjust your aim on different power. Hundred hands trait used to make this easier, but I think they changed it. In comparison with explosive, with frag arrow you don't aim the legs only, but mostly body or objects. They are easy to ricochet, so if someone is hiding, you can hid a wall to his right, and the frag will go on him. Very hard to master this technique, because the first times you will try this, the frag can go towards you, and not the enemy. Wanted to make a video about these type of ammo too, but g4560 and rx580, don't help much with recording while playing hunt. But I assure you, these weapons make this game really fun and more difficult, so everyone must try this combo!
I’m honestly surprised the Derringer was never brought up in this, it’s one of the most essential picks for a bow loadout imo. Whipping out the Derringer and getting the quick kill is so pivotal when a Bolt doesn’t hit center mass.
I’ve got nearly 10 000 bow kills and I almost never brought a derringer for that loadout 🤷🤣 Why a derringer when you have a secondary? I’d much rather save my 1 available toolslot for a flare pistol personally, but then again I am solo most of the time, so the need for utility is what dictates the tool selections!
@@REXNOR_TV It’s all about utility and options in my opinion. It’s kind of like saying “Why bring a hand crossbow when I already have the Large Crossbow, LOL”. Everyone doesn’t have 10,000 kills with crossbow, and having the ability to not be absolutely punished for missing a shot or hitting a leg/arm gives you more advantage in a fight.
@@leapfork Sorry, you said bow in your previous comment so I misunderstood you, my apologies. In either case, I rarely see the need for the derringer unless I literally don’t have a gun at all. Could just be preference, to be fair, but most sidearms in the game would outperform the derringer in velocity, damage and penetration power, hence why I don’t bring it personally. All comes down to preference at the end of the day, and you’re by no means in the wrong for bringing it 💪
Aim right in the middle of all 3 lines if you are close and if you are on distance aim in center of the two bottom lines and higher up depending on how far you are! :)
Crossbow is good but it’s just inferior to the bow. There both able to one tap from good ranges, however the bows sights are SOOO much better, and your able to get much more ammo down range than the crossbow. When you factor special ammo in, maybe there’s an argument for crossbow because of shotbolt, but even still it’s very close. Hunting bow is just a better weapon. I’d like to see them add a different unique kind of weapon like those however.
I wouldn't really say inferior, but rather different. They both excel in their own ways. There will be scenarios where the bow is better than the crossbow and vise versa!
@@REXNOR_TV oh cmon Rex lol I’m not saying inferior by a long shot but the bow excels in mostly every way compared to the crossbow. Are there pros and cons to each yea ofc, but I think the bow just outclasses its counterpart when you consider all of the pros and cons. But I defer to your expertise seeing as you use them both flawlessly haha
For sure! I find them to be pretty much on par honestly, but bow is more my style and what I've played the most. For a beginner, the crossbow would be a lot better I imagine! @@michaelsanders7484
Bow relies heavier on hipfire and keeping space, right? Where the crossbow relies on faster rotations and can push more easily Bow sights are very clean but crossbow isn't terrible. Imo that's the primary difference in function, with "reload" being second. After that it's a different flavor of the same thing, rather than inferior/superior aspects imo
I think so, but you might lose valuable time for a push to get the down. And the trait only has 25m range iirc BUT you can def track hunters with the trait. Ex- got the hit out of OHK range and they ran into cover. Throw a beetle to see where they might have pulled out the bolt and kinda see what direction they rotated Or you can use the trait to mark body locations and see if bodies were rez'd or not. Throwing knives are good for this, or just leaving bolts in bodies after a down
Man I’ve been waiting for good video about crossbow. Not from a casual guy, but from the one who played a lot with this weapon. Thank you
Awesome! I made sure to get plenty of practise before making the guide for that reason! Glad you liked it! ❤️

bulwark is also useful when running exp crossbow for close range fights. Also throwing explosives and shooting them with exp bow is very fun
