- Nissan's all-new X-Trail with ePower and e4ORCE has landed on NZ soil. It's a petrol powered SUV that drives like an EV, so it doesn't need charging and as for range anxiety, forget about it. Topping it off is an electronic AWD drive system that's seriously good.

So much better drive and quieter than RAV 4 Hybrid.
My brother hired a RAV 4 HYBRID and then test drove a Nissan X Trail E Force.
Underwhelmed by RAV 4 especially when pushed.
One word for X Trail E Force.... Beautiful. Serene, smooth, responsive and high comfort. His will be delivered in Sydney in 2 weeks.
I test drove one myself. 100% agree.
The only EV like vehicle I would consider with current battery technology.
Have to agree, it's a bit odd having an engine that sparks up whenever it wants but it's a smooth and premium drive that's loaded with tech. Best in the range for sure.
I like Nissian's idea. But the price tag of Nissian e-power car is still high to my perspective as a user in Vietnam market.

The million dollar question…. Would you buy this car over the Toyota RAV4 cruiser hybrid (if both cars were available with same wait times) and if so, why?
Thanks for watching and comments. Great question but relatively easy to answer. We're big fans of the RAV4 here, however, the tech is more advanced in this Nissan, the safety is at least similar, the drive is more EV like so more instant torque and the AWD system is super quick and smart giving a more confident drive. Hope that helps.
@@TarmacLife Yes, seems a close battle between the 2. Having test driven both, I found the RAV4 to be more noisy in cabin and the engine revs hard when pushed in comparison to the X~trail but price is slightly better on the RAV4, its hybrid tech has proven reliable over many years. Ive got a RAV4 cruiser hybrid on order with still long wait but seriously considering the Nissan as the in cabin finish is so much more modern and sound proofing much better than the Toyota.
Based on your experience with both cars, how much better would you say the RAV4 is per L/100km between the two cars?. I know that RAV4 claims 4.8l/100 and X-trail 6.1l/100 but real world use doesn’t seem to back those number up. Did your test drives show both cars used similar fuel or was the Toyota way ahead? TIA
@@vrs76r to be honest it was a while ago since we drove the RAV4 hybrid so hard to comment on real world economy. We have found both vehicles to be ethical with their numbers though in the past give or take a few percent. The main issue we have is that we test out sport modes and acceleration whereas if you owned it and focused on fuel you'd be in economy mode and regen braking etc
@@TarmacLife Fair call. Ride comfort and in cabin ambience trumps a couple of litres extra per 100km for me.
If fuel economy was the determining factor , I would use a push bike instead 😆
@@vrs76r True, if you focus on fuel economy take Honda Jazz hybrid. X trail focus more on quiet driving and quality.

Not really, there is still an ICE engine under the bonnet.
Yes! The RAV4 has a terrible CVt gearbox.
This is a petrol car. It consumes about 6.5 lit of premium petrol. This is equivalent to about 9 lit of 91 petrol. My present x trail uses about 9.5 of 91 petrol. Where is the saving ? Plus the hybrid set up is too complicated, risking developing problems. The battery is too small. Not worth the money. We're going to buy a Ti with the 2500 petrol engine.
Thanks for watching and comments (and making me have to look this up) As a general rule of thumb the difference in fuel efficiency is about 1% per octane rating, so 91 and 95 unleaded fuels, for example, have roughly a 4% difference. This means that the quoted 6.5L in 95 is equivalent to 6.76L/100km (not 9.5L) so the saving is around a third. Added to this, the ePower is quicker off the mark (some people prefer this) and comes with a very advanced e4ORCE AWD system - I could go on. The Ti is good, but this is better.
I keep hearing about a requirement about premium petrol, but when i collected mind and asked the dealer they specifically said to use Euro 95, which is the simple one.
I was told to not check my fuel use until around 1000km, as the battery won't work at full capacity initially and I can confirm the battery charge doesn't get over 50% right now.
Look at Nissan the BMW fanboy, stolen BMWs newest headlight design! Hah!! The diff is BMW make it look good.

Nissan started that style headlight with the Juke. Every other manufacturer is copying them. Please do your research.
This is because BMW also hired Japanese designers but YES they are identical with a much affordable price.
