Appreciate that most of your punters aren't the photographers that watch your channel, but you've built a huge audience that will willingly amplify and recommend you based on your skill, reputation, credibility, integrity and honesty. That's a solid platform to help you launch this new venture Stu and as Dave say, nobody deserves it more. Good luck mate

Wow! That's phenomenal! I'm retired now but have worked for a few small business owners and I've always had the greatest respect for those who can "go it alone". If I had tried that, I'd have ended up locked away somewhere in short order -- I just don't have the personality / mindset for running (and supporting myself from) my own business. Very impressive and hope it does great!
Mate I'm absolutely buzzing for you. Can't believe it's so long ago we had many many sunrise chats about the pros and cons of giving up a good job to start that gallery. The old place really had its charm, but by the look of it you clearly needed more room and not only above your head 😅 … the new place appears very nice and I like this concept of a two-storey gallery. I wish you much of luck and if I am around one day I will certainly pay a visit. 😊

Hi Stuart, firstly best of luck with your new venture. As a landscape photography gallery owner myself, much of what you said in the video was familiar and I shared your feelings. I had a gallery for 11 years, latterly in Cheddar Gorge, it was successful with enough space to display my work from all over the UK, rather than just Somerset, much like you with your Lakes images. However, we (my wife & I) opted to close up and take life a little easier in our more senior years, and go back to just doing some shows/events and online to keep the business going, but on a reduced scale. Like you, a big risk. I hope the new gallery works for you and I look forward to visiting it sometime on one of my visits to the Lake District in future.

I can see there's a huge amount of potential in your new space and I have every confidence in you making a success of it too. You have a very impressive portfolio of images, which when displayed in the right surroundings will undoubtedly create the right kind of impact. The trick is to give your potential customers the ability to visualise your work in their homes. If they can see an image working in a particular space they have, you're almost home and dry.

I've been to your old gallery a couple of times and each time you were out - maybe I'll get to visit you in the new one. The other good thing about your new place has to be that it is on the main road running through the town. Hopefully people that drive past on their way into Keswick will return for a look. Life's about taking risks, dint get anywhere sometimes if you don't. Good luck with the new premises, I will have to pop in and check it out if I'm in Keswick.
Best of luck and I'll be sure to drop in if I'm about. I visit the lakes a lot and I did attempt you current gallery in the winter last year but it was closed so hopefully I'll drop on and you'll be open next time I come up. I think being in Keswick you'll 100% get more footfall as Seascale is a little out the way of the main touristy hubs unless your heading iver to wasdale. I'm sure you've made a good choice.

the very best of luck to you. timing as you say is key. I was about to give up my career a few years ago to become a full-time pro photographer, but I got sick (blood cancer) and that was that. I gave up work, yes; I had to! But the dream of leading workshops in waterfall country in the Beacons died.
I'm sure you'll make a massive success of the place - it looks ideal for hosting exhibitions, etc. And hopefully it'll be somewhere you and your son can share and enjoy together 🙂

You should check the fire regulations too if developing an upstairs area, separate fire exits are needed in some circumstances. Good luck with your new venture.

All the very best Stuart, I look forward to you opening the new gallery. Just one point, you need to get some staff because in the past I have attempted to to visit your previous gallery, but you have been closed due to photography commitments. Lol. So I missed out on getting some of your artwork.
Hi Peter thanks of that - staff is a non-starter as the gallery is very seasonally driven and there isn’t enough footfall during low season to justify another person financially. That may change of course though I do have a webstore where everything can be purchased also.
