the local shows have been dieing here simply because you can often go to any local retailer and find similar if not the same gun for 10% less.
Gun shows started to decline when they opened up the vendor slots to the beanie baby/beef jerky crowd.
Lol no it's just over priced junk
I can see small gun shows declining because in my area it’s always the same vendors with the same overpriced firearms. You can look at a used firearm on one table and the next table over you can buy the same firearm new for about the same price. They need to sell pickles just so they can pay for their table. It has to be that a lot of them are paying out more than they are making.
@GgaryRT "I can see small gun shows declining because in my area it’s always the same vendors with the same overpriced firearms."
Exactly. There are no deals or sales like there used to be and that was the purpose of gun shows meant to be promotional. Now they are nothing but local gun shop get together events with the same prices on guns and ammo that are in their shops that never change and not worth the entry fee to the show.
Internet is killing the local gun show. Even with transfer fees I save money buying online.
The NRA literally helped write the NFA act in 1934. There's congressional records that say that the NRA approves of the bill (meaning the NFA of 1934) they have been a sham since the beginning. I am so grateful that there are better organizations out there now.
SHOT Show used to be a show where business was done, distributors and gun shops would actually place their yearly orders at SHOT. It’s now essentially a media event and very few orders are actually written. The incentive to pay the absurd amount for a booth isn’t there for the manufactures anymore, they don’t need it to get those orders written.
And the ATF was at
My local members-only gun range requires a 1-year NRA membership to join. So I got an NRA membership to join the club, but I will not renew NRA membership.
I got my Life Membership to the NRA when Obama was president, last time I gave them money was 2017
Not to mention it's $13.00 to get into the local gun shows here in TN. Pay that to go to a lame dinky show that is run by RK shows that's charging 100 for a table with no electricity
The only ones doing gun shows in my area lost me because during COVID and even way after their ads said "bring a mask or we'll provide one". This was in Florida where mask mandates had been dropped for a long time. That made it a big no for me
The problem is that local gunshows: ammo is the same price as on PSA. Antique and classic firearm prices are way up. About 25 of the booths are just junk (knives, no name uppers, sketchy holsters, sketchy cerakote, act.) There just aren't any deals to be had.
I have been going to local gun shows here in Miami since 1970. Years ago a gun show was not loaded with new guns. You went to a gun shop for that. The show’s were full of old guns, used guns and gun parts for old guns and military surplus and hard to get ammo. Now - all you can find are Glocks and ARs. Miami shows have been sold to one group that runs all the shows. Old timers with old stuff have died off or left the area for better places. Missing a show doesn’t matter anymore. Best Lounge in town. Good luck guys.
Years ago I overheard a guy setting up his table and he said he had to raise his prices to cover the cost of coming to the show, I haven’t been to a gun show since.
We get 3 gun shows here in Dallas every month . These are geared more towards first time buyers and the people that don't know any better.
The last 4 smaller gun shows I’ve been to were a waste of time. Other than just seeing some rare stuff occasionally, prices are stupid high, even higher than the local stores. It’s been years since I bought much of anything at one in my area.
it used to be Diprete gun shows in NH. it was run by one woman from Bow,NH who passed away in 2021. they were bought out by another company, New England Events, that wants to do "everything but gun shows". the local collectors club does a single day gun show in concord, but that's all.
there used to be 6-8 shows across NH spread out over the year. now we get one, and not many go to it.
"You"cott - time to boy-cott censorship
Yep being censored.
I agree with you all. I am a supporter of the second amendment and I am happy to see that there are other people who are not supporters of everything that the community advocates for. The principal matters. Just what are we using these things for? Are we going to allow for government overreach and if they can overreach with this, what else will they try to overreach with and on? I just want to teach the people how to survive with that tool and help them avoid unnecessary conflict.
Absolutely
To make gunshows bigger, I wish GOA or other groups, would show up, do training courses. No gun training courses but state gun law courses.
i renember in the 90s charlton heston was pres of nra, would be on tv in the wee hours of the morning urging people to fight for gun rights showing film of guns being grabbed and destroyed in all eu nations including rare historical guns in mint condition from private collectors.
Anthony! You are a California lawyer! Gun shows in CA are virtually illegal! That’s your answer on the subject?! “They’re lame”… seriously
I went to a local gun show for the first time in about 8 years, they’ve gone downhill. The show used to be full of dealers with antique and surplus firearms and parts. This year was full of Chinese made knockoff optics and weird anodized Chinese made AR parts.
The nra has been about as useful as a televangelist, for decades. I quit in 94 !
That’s kind of funny bc here in NY the gun shows are where you can find all the cool & high end stuff. Many gun shops you have to order the cool stuff

Regarding gun shows, we basically have two larger promoters in the DFW (Texas) area and a couple of smaller ones. The number of tables can range from 100 to 500 or more (although the large shows have a lot (about 25%-30%) of tables that are non-guns).
Personally, I only go to the larger shows (over 500 tables). They are always very crowded, from opening until about 3pm - I primarily go to be able to touch and hold a larger number of guns in a single trip. I do buy if a table has the item at a competitive price, otherwise I am just a look-i-loo. (I always try to buy from a local dealer first, then the gun shows, and last choice is the online stores.)
Contrary to the news media, there is normally only about 2-3% of the tables that are non-dealers, where a background check will not be required. I know a lot of folks do not like to be on a "list" and they walk around trying to buy guns from individuals that are selling. (I have several NFA items and 90% of my guns had a 4473, so I could care less about a list)
Personally though, I would never sell a gun without getting a photo copy of the persons drivers license for my records, and I do a bill of sale for it (for my protection should the gun be used for bad actions anytime down the road.) - I rarely sell anything though, and when I do, I try to trade it in at a local dealer.
Same thing with buying guns from individuals - I usually avoid buying from someone I do not know, unless it will be a range-toy only, or a gun I do not plan to get rid of after acquiring it.
(Although in my younger days, I did not think about issues I may have down the road if any were used for bad actions. - I bought and sold many guns, usually with a max $50 loss limit in mind, which I viewed as a rental fee, so I could try out as many guns as I could while reducing my costs. This let me figure out the ones that were "keepers") - I don't have many now (more than 2, less than 100) but all of them have a rightful place in my collection, even though I may not have fired it in 5 years or more. (For some reason, the same dirty dozen seems to stay in rotation on range visits, and the other favorites just sit in the safe(s?)
I just miss the deals! The last few I went to, prices were higher than new..
Dear America,
Stop complying. Become ungovernable.
Going to big Expo's is awesome. I miss E3 Expo for video games. That was so much fun
All the gunshows in az are still doing well. But gunshows are a relic of the past. It's 2024, gun buying change.
Gun shows Vs Shot show are 2 different animals . Shot is trying to promote new items towards selling to distributors or some FFLs that buy volumes of products. Gunshows are geared to selling to the public . But gun shows in general suck . I can get just about anything I want online. As opposed to haggling with an old guy “ I know what I got” mentality.

Why anyone is giving anything to the nra is beyond me. Someone from the GOA needs to sit down and have a talk with Donald Trump...
I’m ashamed to be an NRA lifetime member…
Unless an event is open to the public and I don't care or watch it.
I stopped giving to the nra over 13 years ago. I was not seeing the nra do anything for the 2nd Amendment. My father and I would have battles of wit over the nra. Unfortunately my dad died months before the nra had it's problems with the state of new york.
Love to hear you mention WISCONSIN!!! I am 45 and gun shows (small ones) around here such. People don’t sell guns or want more than new price…..???? I just don’t understand it anymore. Used to go all the time, stoped 3-4 years ago. Go 1 to 2 times a year maybe now. 😢
There's liberty and no short of gun shows in Arkansas.
We still get good turnouts at our Arms collector gunshows. I believe Gunshows tailored to Milsurps are still going to do well. Mostly because a lot of milsurp collectors would rather see a surplus firearm in person to inspect every detail and have their questions answered immediately. And Milsurp centric gunshows allow you to look at multiple items without you having to specifically look for it.
I never went to a Gun show ever . Iam on a gun show every day via the internet and Web sites. Why pay to look at firearms and accessories for free get free reviews etc..
I am an nra member only because my range requires it my only other choices are driving 45 minutes and not having 600 yards to shoot. Also my membership is only 120 for the year
😂Guy's love the stories and Stay safe enjoy your Coffee and your selves always Lot's of luck and love you guys
I remember that guy at our CRPA inogerle meeting in Visalia. He was definitely weird. Let me say this: I'm not saying he has bad intentions, but I would leave my kids with him
Is this an appropriate section to ask for a future topic? I feel the 2A space has seen a pretty significant shift in the past week.
SHOT is designed for the manufactures to display their new wares for the distributers/dealers and to except orders. They could get more FFLs if the show will allow 03 FFLs. Seems anyone can meet the bar for reporters. Went to 3 SHOTs in New Orleans/Dallas back in the 90s
Hoping to meet you guys at GOALS!! Wondering if I could get you guys to autograph a pmag or something there. See you guys next month!
I think Matt (Demolition Ranch) said it best. He doesn't mind taking selfies with you as long as his family is not around. Which is to say, if I'm alone come say hi, if I'm with my family leave me be.
Back in the 1960’s In California there was the great western gun show in Industry Ca. But someone fire a round from a
loaded gun the was on display. It was shut down shortly after 2 years later the location was bulldozed. The state there shut down most of them. Slowly but surely. I did go to a lot of gun shows but they have slipped from the old 80,000 square feet to a tiny 10,000 SQFT.
Nothing wrong with Johnny B. But I would like to hear more from Jared and Anthony!
Specially in Comifornia
21:26 not an nra fan , have never donated to them and never will .. would far rather support Other groups that actually fight for the 2A
yeah I agree with Curtis I think marketing has changed, people want to see real reviews before buying or anything so the 5 minute booth interview is dead. especially since they are showing off stuff that is a year off from release. The NRA will be gone I think in the next 10 years unless they replace all of the NRA board and take a new approach, and I am fine with that. I think local gun shows would be better if the tables were vetted for pricing and products.
Just intensive life support actually
Many times those old orgs. Just can't adjust to new times and circumstances. Most will probably fall by the wayside.
Doesnt help shot show is not open to the public but only certain people
Gun shows are a live and well in Texas
Now I saw Lacus used in a news program. Even though it wasn't about him.
Fuel the jets! Beat Al Gores Rhythm!
I believe everything the government says.
We have some good shows in s.e. Pa.
Regarding "celebrity-dom" - This may be humbling to you guys, but about a month ago I had never heard of any of you. This channel popped up on my feed one day and I liked it, so I subscribed. (not a shot at you fellas, just the truth)
I like your content, but, you never have to worry about me bothering you for a picture or autograph! 😅
But then again, I have had the chance to meet well over a dozen big name celebrities, and I have only bothered John Wayne and Clint Eastwood for pics and autographs. (And I did get pictures of Lee Majors and his then wife Farrah Fawcett back when he was doing The Six Million Dollar Man TV show when I was about 10 - I had her poster on my wall, but was too shy to talk to her and get her to sign it)
I got to meet the entire cast of the movie "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" when they were filming in Montana (we were staying at the log cabins they shot in) - I have to say, of all the celebrities I have ever met, George Kennedy is the one who stands out the most. We were kids, and got to go on set due to knowing the art director's kid. My sister had asked for his autograph after the bank vault heist and the director gave us the brush-off saying Mr. Kennedy was too busy to be bothered right then. Mr. Kennedy however, put the director in his place and commented he was never too busy to take time out for a fan. He stood there for 30 minutes talking to us and signing for anyone that wanted it. - Class act.
39:04 dinosaurs?
Did anyone else have to google "Stalwart"? We had to wonder if it was New England slang after Jared sar something 😉 Love you guys, keep up the great work!
Nope I have a vocabulary

Misled
Seems like most of the local shows here in East Tennessee are more based for collectors and people who have no idea about pricing or the industry. The GUN SHOW theory all together is dead. You still have your old guys still hanging around trying to sell there used Glock for 800 when new ones are 550-600 out the door. Or Bear creek ARs for 1000 when new ones are 400. Reason why several small gun shops are dying also. Why pay 5-20% more locally?
Give us a list of all your favorite shows!
Brandon Herrera - trump's director of the ATF?
Why not disband it
Mislead lol naw
Most gun shows suck ass though lol
Oh come on guys! Who in God's name that's a gun fan doesn't want to go to see new products and modifications and updates from all of these manufacturers. Especially all the new guns and EDC items and so on. I honestly think you guys have just been to too many and you're kind of burned out on them.
The NRA has given my counties 4-H shooting sports program nearly 100k over the last 10 years through grants. All for kids between 8-18. Is there another gun rights group that does that?
They support gun control
Considering the Bumpstock ban, we never got any satisfying answers about the event that sparked it, the Las Vegas shooting. We remember.
