- Today we are fininshing up the chicken tractor (aka chicken cart), planting garden, and cooking over the fire. Andy is using his Farmall 140 at the creek garden today. We are using our HOSS seeder to plant Japanese Hulless Popcorn, Jade Bush Beans, Supremo Beans (aka October Beans) and Pink Eyed Purple Hulled Peas.

Your family has the best life. You will never worry about your kids, they are learning from you two. They will always know how to take care of themselves. Be proud of yourselves and kids. That 140 is in outstanding shape for when it was made and they made them to last. Hard to believe they farmed and fed the world with those small tractors . Sure beat a Mule

I love this old tractor. I have my Dad's 1957 Massey Ferguson Ford tractor he used. My son n law keeps it on his place. These older machines are hard to beat. Deer hate garlic so here in my flower gardens where I plant some food I plant garlic or onions to turn deer.

We have 3 silkie babies that were hatched by mom and being raised by their momma. They are in with our other chicks and all the silkie moms keep them protected.

Good, the best first, POPCORN. YEAH!😅 loved the video. Quiet beautiful private area. Plenty of fresh oxygen. Good food. My oh my. The Chicken Truck looks so nice. Being moved by one, and not too heavy will simplify things no end. You know, back in the day they never took chicks away from their Mother, did they? That mom wanted her chicks and is loving them feeding them and protecting them best she can. Warms my heart to see that. I know you're keeping a good eye on them, and I bet Maggie will also be watching out for them too.❤😊
Great video video this am family. To see Andy so happy on his tractor😊hope it’s a good crop this year. The stream area is where it’s at Megan. I get it. The peace,laughter of kids and just fun family times had by all. You’re truly blessed with such a spot. We raised our boys on our property and recently took the grand kids down to the stream they played in growing up. Filled my heart to see my sons as daddy’s showing off their spot to their kids now. We had to do some brush cutting since the blackberries had taken over spots. But so worth it. Really appreciate you showing us around. Thanks!! Here’s to spring planting,best wishes to all,God bless❤

Love your new chicken cart, I rototilled my garden yesterday and today my body is resting.
That was a good job starting the fire Jacob. One reason it takes a few strikes on the fire starter is clothes have flame retardant on the fabric. back in the day you could lite it in one strike.
Never thought about that, makes sense!

Looks like a great farmstead you are developing there.
I'm concerned at the size of the milk crate handle holes on the chicken cart. A Long Tailed Weasel can easily get in, have a meal and shimmy back out even with a full belly. Maybe a wood framed construction cloth door panel with hinges across the top so it opens by unlatching and opening from the bottom?
Weasels will take up residence nearby if the prey is plentiful and farms always have mice, chickens, feral cats and other typical farm setting snack that foxes, weasels, hawks, skunks and coyotes love to eat.

I love cooking fire especially if it's alder tree would taste so nice When we went camping all the time with mom and dad that's all we used to cook over or tree bark makes nice warm coals to cook over but never fur trees or cedar trees use fur and cedar and hemlock for heat because alder does not have any heat a lot of ash
I’m third gen with my grandfathers Farmall cub. We use the middle buster to open the furrow and fertilize. Then put the discs on to close the row. Then knock the top off the hill and plant seed with a cole planter in the rear
God has surely blessed you guys with a garden of Eden! LOVE the place by the creek!! Can you adopt me? I'm a good gardener, hog raiser, chicken lady, beekeeper and cook! 🤣 But Meg, you will have to teach me how to milk a cow. lol
Looks good. I like the design and the functionality of it. The first change I would make would be to put a door across the laying baskets to deny them peing pushed or pulled out.
That's quite a convoy going across to that creek garden. 😊 I know what you mean about being in a peaceful place that seems away from the world. I live deep in the boreal forest 26 miles from the nearest village to get any supplies.
Would be good to add another layer of chicken wire with a wood border all the way across the 4 egg baskets, secured with a clasp, so the chickens cannot pop the egg baskets out. They are crafty. Also protects the birds from predators too. On the door, snakes and rodents can get into the coop! Need to redo that door! Plant some pumpkins in the middle rows!

I don't have much family my wife passed away 5 years ago.i grew up doing a lot the same things I'm 53and have a dream of moving to the mountains or I'd love to just be a hand on a place like you all have don't want any pay just a little one room shack some wood heat a little porch I can set on play my guitar a little in evenings basically in exchange I work do what has to be done.id love to visit maybe stay a summer at least

Before you plant your cabbage plants again mix a pile of wood ashes in the dirt it will keep the bugs off the plants
