    I have been on low dose Testosterone for a little bit over three months. I'm out as non-binary everywhere but I prefer to share intimate details about my personal journey only with close friends or especially supportive individuals. So, many people have noticed drastic changes about me that don't even know I'm on T. They say I look happier and healthier, they say it's even more fun to hang out with me now, because I am more present and communicative. I feel more at home in my body. I had no idea how much of my ruminating, dissociating, mood swings and anxiety was due to dysphoria. I haven't had a panic attack in three months! I used to have at least one every two weeks, sometimes even multiple times a day. I am glad that after three years of going back and forth, I finally made this decision that feels right to me. The only down side is that I have acne on my chin now and smell like a wet dog when I sweat 😅

    i'm currently combining low dose testosterone with daily finastride - the second medication is supposed to reduce facial hair growth and balding - finastride is usually prescribed for trans femme people, but for me it is reducing the rate of change for those more obvious areas that I want more time to decide about whether they are right for me. i've been cycling on and off testosterone for years and was so tired of not having stability because of all those hormone changes. hoping this will allow me to have a regular dose over a longer term, without getting too far to either end of the spectrum.

    Hi! So I'm sort of figuring out being nonbinary and it's all very confusing! The question I have currently is about the effects that low dose T has on voice. Pretty often, I find myself wishing my voice was deeper, but the idea of going on T is a bit scary because I know it's does a LOT more than just that, though I will admit, I'm not opposed to the idea of more facial hair! Even though I like the idea of having a lower voice, my gender expressing can be really fluid, and other times, I find that I'm jealous of the younger me that was a better soprano than current me. You mentioned that changes in voice may be irreversible, but are you aware of any ways that one may be able to lower (or raise) their voice in a less permanent way? Thanks so much! This video was super informative!

    • @DRZPHD
      @DRZPHD  Před 3 lety +30

      Hi. Thanks for asking. Our voice is subject to change to training. Which is seen in many trans women changing their voice via voice therapy alone. I would suggest looking into voice masculinization therapy without any HRT or surgery to see how you can learn to modulate your voice.

      Voice training is the option, BUT it is possible to damage your voice by trying to deepen it so you really have to research. For me this would be the #1 physical change I'd want. I would also like it being easier to build muscles and a more defined jawline, but most other possible effects are negative to me except reduction or stopping of menstruation.

    So I started microdosing T around my 41st birthday. It started causing mass hairloss so my doctor placed me on 5mg of finasteride. I have had subtle voice change, zero bottom growth and only very minor facial hair that isn’t even beyond what some older cis-women can get. I have heard this may be because of the Finasteride. Has anyone else heard of or experienced this? I asked this somewhere a few months ago. I am now four months along.

    Hello I have some questions about microdosing on T or testosterone in general. I'm a AFAB person that now identifies as bigender using he/she pronouns, but I want some changes in my body because I still feel dysphoria. The main change and my principal reason to do T is bottom growth because I think that's the most comfortable I would feel with my genitalia and I really want it. I don't mind about body hair or anything else like more masculine/androgynous features like shoulder broathening or else, but I have a problem with hairloss. I don't want to have hairloss and also I don't really wanna make my voice deeper cause I like it how it is, I think it suits me well. But I don't now if it's possible to only get bottom growth and not deeper voice, I wouldn't mind if it was a little bit lower than it already is but I don't want it to sound like really masculine. I don't know if I'm explaining myself enough cause English isn't my first language and also I'm not very great explaining but if someone could gime me some advice it would really help.

    I'm AFAB non-binary, and I've been wondering if going on a very low dose of testosterone gel would work for me. Gel, since I have a phobia of needles. I'd like to make myself seem slightly more masculine to get the androgynous look I want. But the things I don't want are more body hair, but I can deal with that, I think. But I really, really don't want facial hair. Is body hair something that always changes first with testosterone or does it depend on the person?

      Ngl hair should be the least of your worries bc if it bothers you that much there are always other solutions! Just because you start to grow it doesnt mean you have to keep it. You can always wax unwanted hair or even eventually get it lasered off! That's what I plan on doing if I grow too much unwanted hair on T, but honestly it's not that common to grow a TON of hair even if you go on full dose of T, many trans men still can barely grow facial hair even on years of T. Either way hope you have a happy journey!

    • @aarniv6620
      @aarniv6620 Před 2 lety +4

      You may try the gel, and take the risk of having a little more facial/body hair, if a little more hair is not a devastating result. Because with gel you can easily stop using it and no more changes happen after stopping, in contrast to the injections, where you have to wait for the whole taken dose to exit your body. But it really is a personal thing how soon and which changes happen first. I would also say that body/facial hair is not just something you can ”easily remove”, if you e.g. have to shave your face every couple of days (if not every day), when you did not want it in the first place. Or if you have to start waxing your thighs, if there has not been need for hair removal before. But again it depends on your own experience, which changes would be definitely bad and therefore avoided at any cost.

I was talking to two non-binary people, assigned female at Birth, and they both took testosterone microdosing for about half a year to a year, one of them took a higher dose for short amount of time, and one took a lesser dose for a longer amount of time. They both discussed how they wanted some small changes, I was wondering in your practice, how many non-binary Folk decide to stay on microdosing a long time versus a short period of time. Do you have any information in regards to long-term vs. Short-term, or how to decide to adjust or stop taking t, or hormone replacement in general?

As a psychologist, all I do is help assess if you reached your goals to help you make best decision and its very very individualized. Some people choose to stay on low dose because they feel comfortable with how it makes them feel, others ditch it once results are obtained. Hard to say.

    If a non-binary person wanted masculinizing effects and began to take a low/micro dose of T would they have to eventually stop if they wanted to maintain their level of non-binary?

I live in a country where no other types of T is allowed to be prescribed to women except Andriol Testocaps Tablets. I know they are much weaker than other methods. So I really need advice on how many tablets per day will equal a microdose per week and how many tablets will bring about more drastic changes. I know my question is a bit general, however I need some direct advise from an expert if possible not just reading information online. Again where I live, little advice is given on any such issues and transgender people are not liked or tolerated. Thanks a lot

    Hi there!
    Some questions about microdosing - asked my newly appointed psychiatrist about it so I really hope to be able to start:
    What changes go away, if you stop microdosing T?
    Is it horribly bad to miss a day, or apply/take it at slightly different times? (Asking cause my daily rhythm is nonexistent.)
    From what I know, it's not possible to become a little bit taller from microdosing if one's already been through the growth time for a human, is it?
    Is it possible for T to impact sexuality or gender identity? I'd not be bothered if it did, really, I'd just like to know.
    If it would not change the two things with the most dysphoria (voice and hips), is there anything else that can be recommended?
    There may be more questions, but these are the ones I can think of now, when watching the video. Would be grateful for anyone with answers ^_^

    Hello everyone i am nonbinary trans person living in a thirld world country. I have been considering microdosing for a few months now but there's no way i can go to a professional because being trans is illegal in my country. The only available t in pharmacies here is androtardyl 250mg and im very scared to take a dose thats too high. I just want a subtle fat redistribution. Any help would be very much appreciated!!

    Can a microdose change your voice? Currently I am not in a safe position to have that happen and I've been on the lowest dose and me and some other people that my voice noticeably lowered a little bit. I've been on T for 3 weeks now, at this rate, will my voice lower even more?

    I have a perscription for TGel that i maintaince dose once in a while as somone on HRT (estrogen)
    Though im gonna be leaning into it a bit heavier once i get bottom surgery. While i want feminizing effects from estrogen being that im Gender fluid its important that i maintain some aspect of my masculinity.
    Some days i just wake up feeling boy and i dont want that to become disphoric by not being able to be that.

    I don’t have a doctor and I’m not sure where I stand on having insurance, so I don’t know where to get T or who could give it to me and how much it may cost without insurance. If anyone could help, I did some googling but all that came up was TRT for older cis males.

      HI and thanks for asking but I cannot comment because I currently only work with adults. I suggest you seek help of a professional in your area.

      yea you can get blockers, i'd suggest talking to your gp telling them you have gender dysphoria. definitely try to get a referral to a gender therapist or something, and talk to them about your dysphoria with puberty. they may put you on blockers
