    Rad bit of kit. One day i shall has it my precioussssses. Big fan of the jam you got going. I just wanna latch onto something you dropped in the end about the new module bringing you back to the early days of yr experimentation, before you really learned how you were getting what you were hearing. The thing I've learned through the y,rs is its the Result that Counts and the smiles abd the private/public dancing/meditations. NOTHING else (in the end) matters. There is a great wisdom in learning to unlearn. Have fun and thanks for another piece of candy

    !!!!! I’ve wanted to do this for years! I’ve always wanted to be able to play with harmonics separately from fundamentals!
    This makes me wonder what I can do with things like reverb tails which are already a sort of interpretation of an original sound…

    Awesome video, it really explains how the module works under the hood. This is the stuff I've been wondering about. Are you allowed to share more info? Is it some form of FFT resynthesis?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  Před rokem

      It is Tom Erbe's own method of resynthesis, tailored through long use to the specific needs of this instrument. The knowledge presented in this video grew from much conversation with Tom during development, as well as months of testing, exploring, and (most of all) play. We continue to learn more by doing :)

    The manual shows a +-12v cable, but it ships with a full width cable including 5v?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  Před rokem +1

      Thank you for pointing this out. The manual photo is incorrect. We will get that fixed ASAP. The Spectraphon does use a 16-pin header but does not actually utilize the +5V rail.

    @MAKEN0ISE what are the changes to the CV bus on this case? There is a stereo input with an atenuvertor and sum output.. Is there a new CV bus case with extra power in the works?

    • @timmarcusmoore
      @timmarcusmoore Před rokem

      He talks about it in this Sonicstate video czcams.com/video/utxKiFkceD0/video.html

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  Před rokem

      It is not a stereo input on the left, rather it is a two-input sum circuit with a voltage offset and attenuverter, similar to the voltage math circuit on the 0-Coast. The new CV Bus Case will ship in late summer with this updated CV Bus as well as the new 4-Zone Bus Board, with 33 available power headers and four isolated Zones that each provide 1A @ +12V (4A total), and 500mA @ -12V (2A total). The 5V rail is distributed to all Zones and can provide 1A @ +5V.

      @@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC Glad to see an power system and love that there will be isolated zones! On the new CV Bus there looks to be a dark rectangle on each end, are these holes in the panel? What is the intended purpose of them? Thanks!

    The "identity" of the tool does not change. What we do with it and how we think about it changes. That has nothing to do with identity. Misuse and abuse of the term "identity" has many people needlessly confused about many things, sometimes painful things. "Identity" is best reserved for logical and legal uses. There are plenty of helpful terms available to serve the purposes we want to serve when we reach for this "identity" term that really does not help.
    Good purple monkey washing, all the same. A new MN/SH module is always worth a reinterpretation or two.

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  Před rokem

      thanks for your comment. i would not want to cause pain via misuse or abuse of terms. what alternative term would you suggest? in the context of a tool or instrument, it seems to me that what we do with it and how we think about it may well constitute its.... essence? definition?

    • @wellurban
      @wellurban Před rokem +1

      Outside of pure mathematical realms, the concept of “identity” is always fraught. The very idea that a thing is identically itself, always and forever, is a bit old fashioned: most modern philosophy sees that things are defined not in terms of immutable essences but by networks of differences, by context, by use and by perspective. Is it a duck or a rabbit? Is a Maths channel a slew, an LFO, an envelope or an oscillator? The dimensions of a person’s “identity”, such as ethnicity, class, gender or personality, are socially determined and often fluid. Likewise, the tools that people use are fluid and defined by our interactions with them, rather than fixed. To the people who designed them, a 1950s lab oscillator was a piece of test equipment and a metal lampshade was part of the furniture, but in the hands of Delia Derbyshire they became musical instruments. The word “Identity” thus could be misleading, as its etymology suggests an eternally fixed state of being, but by now most English speakers have become used to the idea that identity can be forever in flux.
