Ballard Bridge replacement

  • BNSF is proposing to replace the rail bridge over Salmon Bay near the Ballard Locks in Seattle. Input is being sought from the maritime community about our proposed design, which would be a vertical-lift bridge with 155 feet of vertical clearance for tall ships to pass through.     Sad to see an old piece of engineering go but nothing lasts forever.Hope the project goes well BNSF.

    This is going to be a massive Job and a very big impressive and to keeping the wheels rolling and keeping the sail's and narrow boats a float and sailing men and women to be very happy with the wheels are keeps on the Tracks and thanks to BNSF and all involved in this massive Project and I really hope you can have a Live webcam from start to Finish please this would be really beautiful to be able to watch I have never been to USA and I am a very big fan BNSF

    Hmm., upgrades. lol, I like that plan. It seems to me that the old bridge was a plan that was not planned to last for very long, or was a temporary solution until further plans could be implemented. And now those further plans are being implemented. This new plan looks to be of a more Efficient, wisely sustainable and longer lasting bridge. That old bridge with its bearing was not a wisely sustainable design.
